  1. Annual Lads Week. Last night our three craft declined to pay the illegal overnight berthing fee at Ranworth. The Ba staff stated we would have to leave. We pointed out he did not have the authority to make us leave. His answer - well it’ll be dark soon so you can stay even though one of our craft has nav lights and can navigate after sunset. Then they demanded names of skippers - this again was pointed out they do not have the authority to demand names. We gave them the boat names and reg numbers. I did ask if they were comfortable displaying a lie on their uniforms (National Park) they refused to comment. All communications were amicable We sailed from Ranworth at 0800 picked up Moonlight Shadow at Acle. Four craft over Breydon some good photos now alongside at Teedham chain ferry for a DTS Loddon for overnight this evening Griff
  2. The mayhem has commenced. ‘B.A’ fully crewed, victualled with bonded locker stocked. Underway to meet the t’other crews at Wroxham. 17 x Lads with one Purdey dog Griff
  3. What you bringing a sleeping bag for? I’ve instructed ‘B.A’s crew there is bedding onboard ready for you. ! Griff
  4. A hell of a journey Me n Purdey departed home in Trevor Transit at 2300 Wednesday night. 160 miles and a sub 3 x hour journey time on front of us at this time of night Four hours twenty mins and 190 miles later we arrived onboard. I’m over tired and well miffed off. Got lots to do today onboard I’ll be behind when (if) I eventually wake up it’s now 0345 First road closure A17. Second road closure A47. Third road closure a large fallen tree. And of course on the diversion roads there’s slower moving Hgv’s you can’t get past. You couldn’t make it up I’ll be under pressure now to get all the items tended to before crew start arriving Griff
  5. A pair of Vetus strainers, supplied by a pair of s/steel scoops with strainers through lever type raw water hull valves These replaced the original single brass tube with internal gauze Griff
  6. ONE sleep - beat that un Griff
  7. I wish you all the luck possible and look forward to your write up and photo's Upgrading / replacing / re-wring an original system is always difficult and proper time consuming.# It is often easier to rip the lot out and start again which is what we did with 'B.A' during her restoration. Brand new 12v and 240v - systems - the lot. We still made one huge fooparr - didn't take notes or make any drawings - Huge error. Any maintenance or upgrades now have to be done by memory and none of us are much good at that nowadays. There is only me and Bro' that really understand the systems Griff
  8. Two sleeps - Me and Purdey dog will be onboard 'B.A' sometime after midnight Griff
  9. Starbrite 3:8Ltr non toxic anti freeze currently on offer at Nearest and Dearest - £20:99 Ready mixed protection down to -50c This is the gear we use in 'B.A's Beta - Mainly for the non toxic properties. I've just placed an in-store collection order as I'll be carrying out a major engine service this week, part of which entails replacing the engine coolant May come in useful for those of you that winterise Griff
  10. Trevor Transit - That’s another 10’000 racked up so oil n filter changed but this time (every 30’000) it’s got flushing oil, diesel filter and ZX1 Beta next Griff
  11. By all means join us for the transit and our second stop. A DTS at Reedham chain ferry Griff
  12. It’s free to anyone that wants it. I can bring it down next week Griff
  13. According to my Navplan The Lads Week flotilla should be arriving at Gya heading south Saturday by about 1130 Griff
  14. Robin - I think it would be far toooo thick and not fold / stay rolled properly and be toooo big. However unless of course just a small amount was used for effect full width, folded over only a couple of times - That'd work fine. Grendel - I could get onto the chap that supplied the canopy and get a small sample big enough for what you require if you wish? Griff
  15. Nice one, Grendel now how do I 'Tick' your post with both a 'Thanks' and a 'Like' ? Griff
  16. I dug out about six proper root stumps today. Just got one more to do. This was the biggest of em along with a lump of concrete I unearthed. That took two of us to lift the blasted thing out of the hole. I have eight larger stumps around the back garden that I have cut flat (Chainsaw) as near to ground level as I could. These will be drilled, treated and burned down below ground level Griff
  17. So how will that work re folding the canopy back then? And what happens when it gets wet as invariably will do so from river water splashes (Other craft and models) or even the rain? Wouldn't some sort of showerproof material be a better option? Griff
  18. The figures I used for my annual inflation rates were noted by mysen each year from a government website / News etc Those figures totalled at 42% I have just been on the Bank of England website, they state the CPI rate of inflation from April 2007 to April 2023 is 59% to put that into context £10:00 in 2007 would now cost £15:95 to buy the same goods. Which pails into insignificance against the Blessed authorities inflation rate total of 147% Now what price / odds on yet another above inflation toll raise come April next year? Griff
  19. Just got home, two days at it, somewhat weary but broken the back of it now than answer the questions of idiots like me - keep digging!!! I do not consider you an idiot, not even slightly so. Griff
  20. Matt, that info is at home (I’m digging tree roots n stumps at daughters) but from memory about £275-ish Marshman, no idea, good question, I’ll have to check Griff
  21. It is with a sad heart that I need to inform forumites that we lost Clive on Thursday night - He has gone to catch up with his much missed MrsW (And as he said many times - have a few 'Words' !) Clive went peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep. That in my book is the best way to depart. He was eighty He had a Hampton Safari boat 'Dungraftin' and was one of our longest standing 'Boaty' mates. Huge family, never a cross word for anyone. He lived in Rotherham so not far from our place and we often visited as he did to ours Awesome metal fabricator / welder, he could pretty much turn his hand to owt. I always smiled when he operated his remote controlled mast that would lay flat and then sit up on command from a switch adjacent to the helm. All self designed and made We had the pleasure of his company only three weeks ago onboard 'B.A' ticking of a bucket list for him - Helming 'B.A' (He did most of the weekend, couldn't get him off the helm) and cruising up to New Mills pond He was full of Life's experiences too, always fascinating listening to him talk of a bygone era. He loved dogs (So in my book was a top bloke) Not long back he literally 'Stole' (Rescued) a dog from a house he was visiting for some sort of purchase exchange, saw the kids treating the small dog as a football, the dog was in a terrible state too. So he simply took it when they weren't looking (if they weren't kicking it they were ignoring its plight) Said dog is now with other dogs of its breed, healthy, happy and having a normal life of luxury with its present owner I consider it a privilege to call him and have enjoyed him as a mate Safe anchorage - Miss you mate xx Griff Photo taken during his weekend onboard
