  1. On TV the owner stated they had an engine to put in and make it a boat , not that easy in a barge ,me thinks ,but where do they go ? locked in by that 6 foot 6 inches bridge.
  2. Brings back memories Niel as we had a CB on a hire boat in those days and met a good few locals and remember a crowd in Lowestoft when we moored at Oulton Broad who would give out information and on a Sunday ran a quiz.Plagued by youngsters in those days I doubt if this generation would know what a CB radio is
  3. Hi from us two as well ,enjoy.
  4. May be some light on the horizon as today's EDP states that an interested party is in talks and would carry it on in its same format ,we would hope. :grin:If not we could have a whip round (about 2 million ) and it would make very nice NBN club house as I believe it has some water frontage
  5. Hi Pat.I am not into anything to technical ,but find Picsso does what I want and its free.Look it up it may help.
  6. I can understand the problems of running these places and the large overheads and we have been out a couple of times this week and very quiet.Last night four of us went to the Wayford Bridge and had a meal and was in there for two and a half hours we were the only ones eating and I dont think I saw any one other than staff. You can imagine the costs of every thing and they must have felt like going home but were very attentive and we had a good night .
  7. The Broad House hotel on Wroxham Broad went into administration this week but today's Radio Norfolk stated that all the jobs were to go and that they could not honour future bookings. It is a shame because it was rated highly amongst those that had been there.Lets hope that it will find a buyer soon. http://www.northnorfolknews.co.uk/news/ ... t_1_766616
  8. If you are running an outboard it may help to know there is a garage on the main road not many yards from Marina Keys on the river as you enter GT Yarmouth. We have been through with friends who have found it usefull as petrol is not readily available I dont think for some miles .Have a good trip .
  9. Nice pics and good location Sinon ,keep it coming
  10. Talked to someone today who said that the police had taken them over and he heard that they will be operational,so don't take chances, but certainly the standard of driving in the last few months has improved IMHO
  11. Hi ,endorse what has been said about the boat heating being fine in my experience.I think you will find that yards will not allow you to bring your own electric heaters as the boat would have to have "shore power " and they are geared to a certain maximum load . You cant just plug a lead in from the shore to the boat as it would not be safe with all that wet stuff around without the RCD installed on the boat.We have had many an enjoyable outing during the winter and would say go for it .
  12. Well done Simon ,makes me wish I was on the river ,pass these locations regularily ,but you dont realise how good they look till you see them captured .
  13. Must agree Colin it seems your reply is the same as the explanation they gave in the EDP ,since they have been erected I have noticed that the standard of driving has been far better IMHO .Having stuck to the limit in common with those I have seen on this road I am left wondering that it must have had the effect and will that change now we all know that they have not been switched on ? Has the number of accidents reduced ? like Colin I live locally and must say have not heard of any serious ones lately.I must say when they put them in I thought they might have been more suited to have been placed on the A 11 or A 47 with its greater traffic load .
  14. Great picture Col and what weather,on the river over the weekend in warm Sunshine ,rain ,dead calm to gale force winds .Jolly boating weather
  15. News of odstructions off the coast mentioned in the EDP today.Would not be to handy to hit one at speed http://www.edp24.co.uk/content/edp24/ne ... 3A37%3A650
  16. Thought you had bought a saily there for a moment Simon
  17. "Devil Duck of Ranworth picture" We had him round the boat last weekend whilst moored on the Broad and had not seen one like him before.Any one give us any details of his as we were curious ? as he was new to us
  18. Hi certain we saw you guys moored waiting to go into St Kats lock , we were on the Balmoral which had left Gt Yarmouth that morning and I must agree the worst weather I have seen for a long time on the water .We took the offshore route due to the tides and went many miles offshore when the storm came .We went through as Tower bridge lifted at 7.30 pm with a Thames barge going down stream after we had gone through .an interesting journey ,added to by the huge explosion and fire ball off shore at the weapons testing site at Foulness which was a sight to see ,but then going upstream , did not see our boy Rod on the water
  19. Great app just downloaded it and will give the eye splice a try as I have never got one right yet . So much better if you can see how it should be done rather than read it from a book.
  20. Have got some pics and will try to put them on
  21. Hi Jill ,went in about 11 pm and did the deed with Rentokil foam and it seemed to seal all round the nest .We have been told to leave for several days which we will.I got kitted up with all skin covered and a net laundry basket over my head ,looked silly but did the trick and came out unscathed .Will have a look in the morning ,but wonder about the ones that were not in the nest ,will they seek revenge ????????
  22. Wow,you are a brave one ,this is easy to get at so are going to try thr Rentokill foam ,its been nice knowing you all
  23. Hi Jill over the boat today and got a call from Diane ,we have a wasps nest in a candle holder the size of a tennis ball in the greenhouse. The Councill wont come till Tuesday and have read you can spray them yourselves ,how did you treat yours ? she is frantic and your pics freaked her Any one got any suggestions ?
