  1. Looks a handy bit of kit Rod.On BW site they are now £28 but state up to 100 amp ,is this OK ?
  2. Colins your man for clearing a prop Jonny ,he will tell you how he did it
  3. Hi Ive used Valen Pegger which gives a bit of choice over size.I have found has been the easiest for me to use.
  4. Sad tale Andy and lucky the out come was not worse. So annoying that these manufacturers wash there hands on the stroke of 12 months.I have had several items just out of warranty and as it was a manufacturing fault ,not fit for use etc and in several cases by pursuing it got satisfaction .We tend to be to easy on these people and in your case a not inconsiderable sum of money involved.
  5. Dave ,how did it go after reading your thread on its refurb ????
  6. Hi Mark ,having talked about this the other day with you I had you in mind when I had a chat on the Eber stand at the boat show about my heater. The chap said if he was fitting one he would have a separate tank and run on paraffin ,much more heat output and cleaner burning he reckoned .Advised always running on full power and you should not get the problems that have been mentioned.I fitted a new unit to our Princess some years ago and was advised to take the fuel direct from the tank by Bristers who used to be dealers in Wroxham And to take the air intake from the cabin ,which was warmer rather than an outside locker where the air was colder to start with .The small tank could be vented and have a seperate filler to satisfy the BSS without to much trouble .have a good day Saturday.
  7. Certainly ,toll wise a short term visitors will do the trick,we have taken various dinghies with us in the past using them .But I think it would be wise to check with the yard who I am sure will find it no problem , as you dont want a problem when you turn up on the day.
  8. Lou,Colin and boys ,good to see you got home OK with the weather we have had.As Lou said we joined them all at the last minute and what a great night it turned out to be (always is when you dont plan it ) as we had decided not take our boat to Sutton on our own, when unfortunately Olive was unwell and even today did not sound to good, get well soon O. So we went home to change and returned for a realy good evening in good company as can be expected Colin , Rod and Terry were in good form having had a jar or two ! the girls and the lads did not do to badly either. At well past one we said our farewells and headed off to make our our way home.We could not stand on the ice outside the Inn and the first mile was a nightmare on the frozen snow making us wish we had taken up the offers of bunks on board for the night ,for which we both thank you all.Made it home OK and reflected on what a good time we all had.We intended going out on the boat to Ranworth but weather conditions were not improving ,so sadly decided that we would turn up the heating and stay home instead. Are Rod and Shirley still out ? Will try and post pictures soon .
  9. Hi we live a mile or so from the canal and have been to several meetings.they have done much work on clearing and openining up this end of the waterway. There was talk of some form of "get together of interested parties in going up stream " some time ago from maybe Wayford, but have heard no more.A trip of interested parties could be an option ? could you get as far in an inflateable or dinghy Mark ?
  10. Now theres an idea Brian ,like a firemans air bag.Could make a fortune and we would have the chance to see you on Dragons Den
  11. Hi found that using the engine only tightened things up .If you can get behind the boat from the bank or a dinghy and use a boat hook to pull it down from the prop at the same time as some one tuns the prop shaft from inside in the opposite direction to that which it got wound on or pull from the side again in the correct direction to go with the turning motion from the shaft has had some success in the past.Best of luck or you could do like Colin did and get in the river ,but then it was May!!!!!
  12. Nice picture of Gertie, but Diane said where is the Sister ?????? she wants more pics.
  13. It may sound stupid, but it is Propane you have fitted ?? as I have a Butane bottle that is reddy-orange color .I have yet to fit my winter bottle,I think I am right in that Propane has a male end fitting and butane a female fitting with a nut I also think only Butane has the push on fitting.Hope I am being of some help, but that is how I recall it from caravanning days when we went out all winter .
  14. Great pics Simon and a realy interesting place ,but a real visual blot on that part of the coast. We used to sit on the beach not that many years ago ,behind those wooden piles , whats now left on a very substantial sea defence when it was in one piece. We can see the lighthouse from home in the distance ,and have said when we cant see it ,we will bring the dinghy back from the boat !!!!! just in case.Looks like you had a good day out.Would have made a good photo walk/climb for the group.
  15. Hi all ,promise to post pics in the next few days, just dont seem to have a minute,Dont know how I ever had time to go to work before we retired ,still at least we dont get bored.
  16. What a fasinating thread have enjoyed it a lot.I saw the mention of the Pike in the Swan.I remember Bridget (the landlady at the time ,and for many years under Brewers Fare and when the pub was redecorated she decided to get rid of the " old fish "as she called it.This apparently caused some consternation with the regulars but she had made up her mind and " The Fish " now rests in the Museum of the Broads at Stalham.Worth a visit to see him alone I cant remember the story of his capture but I am sure someone can fill in the details of his "fame " .
  17. Mark hows the list going ? One to add to your list .The Grovelands Hotel is free access .It is just a short walk down from Thorpe Gardens moorings or the ones in the small cut at Thorpe (cant remember the name )and does the best value carvery in Norwich IMHO £3-50 Sweet £1-50 in nice surroundings .Mark is yours an I Pod Touch or phone I noticed that you said in one post you recieved but could not send E mails from the Wi Fi spots ?(Mc Donalds ) I tried my Grand Daughters I Pod Touch sent some e mails home but never recieved them .Great for checking on the forum etc so are thinking of getting one for when we are out and about.Any one else got one ? 19. Blimey Clive what with your vinyl and i am sure many more knocking about in our lofts, we could have a proper Disco at this rate Flashing coloured Photo floods in a box,Disco ball Ive got all the early Beatles some in Mono Elvis ( Diane's collection ) through to Frampton and some more later stuff untill disks were fazed out some great 12 inch singles ( 33 RPM Brian ??? ) that were my sons who had over a thousand ,many he got when he went to New York in the 70s to get original disks for his collection as he had all the decks etc and was into remixing music.Any way I still love my music and am looking at an I Pod Touch put much of our favourites on to use though the radio in the car and boat
  20. I could lend you the player .I will have to mend the handle and oil the spring first You have not lived if you have not heard your favourite artist on vinyl ,complete with the odd scratch or two (actually they are in a box in the garage and have not been played for years, but as the Kids bought then we have kept them)
  21. Hi Mark just got back from a few days away and read your post.It seems you may now be sorted but if you wanted we have Grandma and Grandad by Clive Dunn on a genuine 45 RPM you would be welcome to them.Who says there is no merit in being a bit of a hoarder.
  22. Ive seen them at about £1 each from most boat chandlers.A disposable nappy will soak up all that gunge we cant get under our engine easily but one of these (a cheap pack out of Tescos is only a couple of pounds ) worked under with a long stick soaked up every last drop leaving the bilge realy clean.
  23. Hi Ian ,many thanks for that offer that sounds a realy good way to kick off the season. We will do our best to pop in on Saturday if possible, as we have a busy few days on at present due to birthdays and visitors .It all comes at once when other weeks you are lost for something to do .have a good one if we dont meet up.
  24. A really nice idea Ian,I know there are members like us who would love to have a taste "out of the harbour ",as our boat has got the wrong "shaped bottom " and would not be happy going much further than Mutford. So would be very interested to hear how things progress.
