  1. Thanks for input Guys going to the boat this week so will lift the floor and have another look to see how it matches with what has been said.
  2. Hi Jill I think i will open up the joint next time over the boat and as you say mark things as I take them to bits.Took the cover off an outboard some years ago and bits and springs etc went every where .Had to take to repair man in a box and sheepishly asked him to " mend please" which he duly did.
  3. Sorry Jill forgot to reply to the last part of your post.We have a 3 cylinder Perky and Hydraulic drive, not sure of the make?
  4. Getting closer ,thanks Jill,My one does not have the bolt but looks like that one in the picture ,so wonder if there is a nut on the end of the shaft still?
  5. Thank you Dave and Clive ,I dont think it looks like the first one Dave and the second one looks more complicated on the outside of the casting Clive.I have had a suggestion that within the two halves a tapered end to the shaft with a key way and a nut on the end .The two parts bolted together make the connection from the engine to shaft, does this sound feasable and if so it should not cause a problem to remove the four bolts and inspect what lies within???
  6. Jill as said, there is no problem with the running of the stern gear ,it is just whats in side this coupling I would like to know.I will take picture when next at the boat.Roy
  7. Jimbo, this is a solid joint to connect the shaft to the gear box and I would think if you took out the four bolts you could slide the shaft back from the engine? Roy
  8. Same with me Jimbo,it may have been like it for years but I would have thought that it should be solid as it transmits the power to the prop.I dont get any vibration at all ,so it is not causing a problem in that respect.
  9. Working on the boat to day and there is a two piece coupling on the end of the propeller shaft joined with four bolts and this housing is about four inches in diameter .it is mounted on the hydraulic gearbox. When you hold the coupling tight you can feel a slight movement on the shaft both in the horizontal and radial directions,if that makes sense? What I would like to know is the end of the shaft fixed with a nut at its end ,and is it possible that this could not be tight? Could the other movement be the key way which is I believe in the end of the shaft inside this housing.Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Handy to know that if you need extra weight to get under Potter, better than a boat load of people ! Jimbo Looks a handy bit of kit ,had a look could not find it ,are they expensive ?
  11. Hi Colin ,I get your point and as a keen member on here I am also a member of several other forums, as I know are a lot of our members .I did not "leave those to come here " I joined NBN as I like the site and what I see on here and will pop in on any Norfolk sites that appear ,to have a nose,as you might visit several pubs and enjoy different company .As regards the photo group I am sure that we can find "opportunities "for good photos away from the reed beds Simon and you know we are all here when you feel up to it.Nice to hear from you mate
  12. Welcome home to you and Sue,Not in the NN then ??? what are we going to do for Grapes ???? I will popin when you feel up to it.
  13. Hi Simon,Good to hear you will be back home soon ,all be it in the NN. Watch out for that David ,make sure he does not eat all your grapes, the rest of us will need some when we visit.Seriously you are in our thoughts as I went through nearly five months in the same bed in the same ward some time back and what it was like in ITCU ,but with the support that we get from all around us you come through as you say with a different outlook on things .On a lighter note I get these Senior moments and when I first read the post about you I went in to Diane and told her that you were in Australia on holiday ! we said how it was a bit flat there ,but with all that heat I did think snow may be hard to come by? On reading the post several times it came to me that it was Austria! .This week I crossed a car park jumped in the car to hear "do you mind" from a woman I had never seen in my life!you guessed it Wrong car!Diane was sitting in our car (identical )two spaces away laughing her head off.Wondered why the keys did not fit.So better keep clear of me on the river ,as you never know what might happen.Best wishes to you both.Diane and Roy
  14. Hi Simon and Sue,good to see you are on the keyboard and look forward to seeing you back here soon .We both send you our very best wishes.
  15. Cor that was a shock, sorry only just picked up on this thread but glad Simon is now getting closer to being home.Diane and me send you and Susan our very best wishes and for a swift return to good health.
  16. Went down today, hardly room to park.Several seals were on the dunes and the Wardens kept us at a safe distance from them. but several pups seemed to enjoy showing off,and were not put off by the visitors. If the seal sanctuaries had a collection from every visitor they could boost their income and carry on the good work that they do.What a great natural exhibition of nature, our Grand daughter went two days on the trot and loved every minute of it .
  17. Hi Guys ,will be there on Sunday at the breakfast stop if I'm not to late to join you all.Sorry missed the earlier posts and have been away for several weeks and only got back Tuesday.Looking forward to it as the last one was very interesting and am hoping to learn a bit more this time.
  18. Locks ? we had 10 years onthe Cambridgeshire Ouse.Mostly power operated now,but a great social addition on that river .We made friends in those locks ( and on the river ) that we still have today.A great river but cant beat the open cruising of our Broads.
  19. Hi Guys,Sorry have not put my pics on yet,but have had probs uploading them.Simon my first " efforts " were on the SLR that "died "and I wonder if you could mail them to me .Some good stuff has been posted and the pointers we were given on Sunday show in the quality of the images.Hope to tag along if there is another one in the future. Away for a few days but will try and sort out my PC
  20. Hi Guys great photos,I will put mine up as soon as I can.Good time enjoyed it and would like to do it again sometime, maybe in the Winter.Liked the comment from the Lady at Salhouse " What are you looking at ? Are you TWITCHERS " How very dare her ! I mean did we really look like that ???? aah well maybe she did have a point ! Looked more like Papararazzi on Woodbastwick Green lurking around waiting for " that shot".
  21. Hi just a word to thank Simon and all who turned out for a very interesting time to-day.Shame how it ended ------being dragged into the pub and then showing myself up having a Wherry Shandy ,in a brewery of all places.sorry chaps
  22. Certainly good news.Does that mean that you dont have to declare if you even have or what type of heater you have ? ,or will it apply across the board heater or not.
  23. Nice one about switching the caps,I would like to be there if they used the old method of syphoning--------Stick tude down filler tube--------Place lips round tube and suck very hard------------when contents reach top of tube and pass lips remove tube and spit out contents --- ---He He He-------Just one thought if fuel was put in waste tank and pity the poor mechanic who had to clean out the injectors etc.---Yuk
  24. Hi sounds good ,count us in and think the walk and Fur and Feathers sounds good to us .
