  1. Is`nt it amazing how people always knock the Brits in world sport?. Maybe that`s because all we ever see or read about is football, cricket, rugby, and tennis. Yet look to the world of motorsport, and very often we excel. So why don`t we see more motorsport on tv?. Certainly a lot more exciting than watching 22 overpayed egotisits being payed millions every year to kick a cows a..e around a field...
  2. Yep, Button was finished several years ago, and has mostly been in it for the jet set lifestyle. McLaren only kept him on as a developement driver, as they knew last year the Honda engine was`nt going to be competative this year, and possibly only a midfield performer next year. .
  3. She certainly is, and if you see her end May/ beginning of June, please come and say hello :wave
  4. Sadly in the main Moto GP race, Scott Redding did`nt finish, and so the honours went to Bradley Smith and Cal Crutchlow, finishing 6th and 7th repectively. But still a day to celbrate. As you say Strow, good to see the Union Jack flying high above the two German flags, though why Nicko Roberg is classified as a German i don`t know, especially as father Keke is a Finn?.
  5. Hi all, I know there are several motorsport fans on the forum, so i would think you would agree that Brits winning in world championship events is always something to celbrate. However, today has been an amzing day for Brits competing around the world. F1, Lewis Hamilton wins the Chines GP (though hardly unexpected) Moto GP from COTA, Austin, Texas, Danny Kent wins the Moto 3 race, Sam Lowes wins the Moto 2 race, the Moto GP is currently still going, World Superbikes..Jonathan Rea wins the first WSB race of the day, followed by Chas Davies winning the second. On top of that, Cal Crutchlow was leading the qualifying field for the Moto GP, finishing fifth in the end, followed by Scott Redding in 6th, setting a career best. Here`s hoping for a great result for them too. It is`nt very often we have the chance to wave the Unioun Jack at the worlds elite racing series, so today has been a day to celebrate. As for me, i can`t wait to watch the hilights tomorrow evening.
  6. Mark. I had visions of picking up Lightning with full toilets and empty tanks?.
  7. Hi all, we recieved some e-mails from the Lightning syndicate saying that Brooms fuel / water / and pumpout pontoon was out of action due to a radical upgrade of facilities. Does anybody in any of the Brooms based syndicates, or Brooms berth holders know whether this has all been finished?.
  8. I was going to make a comment about that Alan, but did`nt want to cause you any anxiety, as i`m sure you and Dave have had more than your fair share of it over the last year or so?. Come to think of it, it might be there when you arrive?.
  9. Well done on the outboard front, as for your hand held VHF, as far as i know a radio is only as good as the signal you can put out or recieve. With a hand held, you only have a small antenna, so incoming and outgoing signals might not have much strength. If you can connect it up to a remote fixed antenna of a more normal size (or whatever that is) you should be able to get good incoming / outgoing signal strength.
  10. I would imagine the first thing they would do is take her straight into the yard at Somerleyton to lift out and give it a thourough checkover before taking her back to Brundall?.
  11. If you could rent it out, it could make you a nice bit of income, Sheltered off river moorings with all facilities would command quite a price i should imagine?.
  12. We`ve got another 6 weeks yet before we`re on Lightning. Have a greta 2 weeks Dave and April, and a great 10 days Allan.
  13. Sounds very much like Rosie Lea`s to me.
  14. What a great thread this has been, and so good, it`s almost 50 pages long. I wonder who will be the first to post on page 50?. Good luck with the move lads, and i hope you have no unforseen hickups when launching at Somerleyton. WELL DONE LADS.
  15. Looking very nice Griff. You past us going down the lower Ant last June, and i have to say BA looks absolutely stunning on the water. Hopefully if you`re aboard at the beginning of June, we might see you again?.
  16. Where`s Strowager when you need him, as this would be right up his alley. He`s often researched things like the engine info you require, so hopefully, he might be able to help some way. One thing i WILL advise, make sure you get the outboard fully serviced, as it`s a 4 stroke, and if it`s been left standing for a while, the oil might have degraded, , and completely drained out of the oilways in all the cam gear etc?. 2 stroke outboards are usually cheaper to service due to fewer mechanical parts requiring servicing, so (IMHO) a full service should be a must.
  17. Hi Mark, those visitor moorings are right beside Lightnings mooring, and they have to move her about to get their fleet out. I`m surprised they have`nt got better more open moorings for the fleet, boats, and visiting hirecraft.
  18. So a long and chilly night is on the cards for then Clive?. They`ll earn their cocoa when they get back. What surprised me was to read how you took them back and put them on another boat. I hope they don`t phone again with some more bad news for you.
  19. Inside the marker posts i note. And when the tide comes up at that angle, the water water will go straight in through all drain and vent holes.
  20. Hi Smitch, If you phone Jon at Wayford Marine for an engine< don`t forget to ask him to service it so you know it`s a good runner. Also while you`re on the phone, you could always ask him if he`s got any bits and bobs you`re after knocking around, as often you find boatyards like Jons can be a real Aladins cave.
  21. :clap That`s actually a very well put post Alan. Iyou might say "even if it`s just a pump out or a drop of fuel", but if enough of us on the forum were to stop off for just a pump out or fuel, it could mean the difference between an excellent indipendant yard surviving or going under. A simple post such as yours makes people sit up and think. It did to me anyway.
  22. Recognise this Roy?, Taken October 2014, a couple of days after the Beccles floods.
  23. 1 pair of Sea boots, 1 pair of deck plimsoles, 1 pair of everyday trainers, 1 pair of smart shoes, and a pair of slippers. And that`s too many really.
  24. Hi Mandy, i forgot to add, if the weather is particularly bad, it`s a very sheltered haven, and with the hook up (if you can get hooked up?), you can stay for a while till the weather breaks. It`s one of our regular overnight moorings when we stay south.
