Norwich Peregrines

Took another look this morning, there was one peregrine sitting on the corner in the wind but I couldn't see an egg anywhere.

The egg is nearer to the microphone now, so a little further right and slightly more towards the middle of the platform.

Ah yes, I can see it now, a little further out, but they're not sitting on it. There's one falcon there at the moment, perched on the edge, squawking away and flapping its wings about.

By all accounts the Peregrines only sit on the eggs after they have all been laid.

Ah ok. Good to know. I had thought that it wouldn't survive without being incubated straight away ... never took biology at school!

I think its something to do with the fact that clearly they take a bit of effort to lay!!

And they want them to hatch within a day or so of each other!!

I looked at the Norwich webcam this morning and there is now three eggs in view.

I have not seen it but by all accounts there are now four eggs at Norwich & Bath so the peregrines will be sitting now until the chicks hatch.

I haven't kept up with this but on checking this morning it hasn't been good news at Norwich. Three eggs, one chick died and one was accidentally thrown out of the nest. I only had time to read the update quickly but it sounds as if there is only one chick left.

I did say I couldnt see the birds but have managed after 4 attempts.

Good to see at least one chick doing well at Norwich. We have three very lively chicks on our Wakefield Cathedral camera.
