MauriceMynah
Well with rums, sadly my favourite isn't available any more. Lambs Navy Neaters. (100 proof, 50% abv) Like Woods 100, but far smoother. To Ian, I was there in 2001/2002, working on the 39th floor. I was working there when the 9/11 twin towers attack happened. Rather a nervous time!!

SteveO
Mmmmmm good question. I am currently enjoying a bottle of Jim Beam which was a birthday present from my sister. Single malts: The Macallan, Highland Park to name but 2. Everyday drinking (well not every day) Famous Grouse. I don't really like the overly peaty, iodised Islay type malts, such as Laphroag and Lagavulin, which remind me of siphoning diesel. I have enjoyed Japanese whisky from Suntory in the past and am not averse to the occasional Irish whiskey which is generally smoother and sweeter than Scotch. On the question of water/ice. I attended a whisky-tasting event a couple of years ago and one of the key takeaways from that was that some styles of whisky are better consumed neat whilst others definitely need a judicious addition of water to let the flavour out. Cheers! Steve
