Guest
We're looking for a permanent mooring to rent for our 21' motor cruiser on the South/West bank of the River Yare anywhere between Reedham and Norwich (excluding the River Chet) from next April onwards. Does anyone know of any vacancies or any owners that might be approached?

Guest
Hi, Thanks for all your replies but I think they're all on the North/East side of the river, which is the wrong side for us.
DaveRolaves
There was a mooring to let on The Yare about 300 yards upstream of Reedham Ferry on the left bank. There are some boats there and the moorings are quite long. The owner of the land may live in the cottage nearby on the other side of the road leading to Reedham Ferry. Dave R..... ZimbiIV
Buckenham, Langley Dyke and Rockland are the only places I can think of on that side of the Yare. Yes there are moorings opposite Reedham ferry the phone number is on a post in the garden of the old pub now a guest house I think. paul

Guest
Many thanks for all you suggestions and information. Finding the owners of moorings isn't easy - perhaps someone could compile a register? So far, we've put our name down on several waiting lists but nothing is definitely available yet. As time is now marching on and we have to be off our existing mooring by the end of March, we're looking further afield - the whole of the Broads! We don't need the facilities that marinas provide so what we're looking for is a river bank mooring which may be private, or owned by a business or council , it may even be a homeowner with a river-frontage who doesn't use it and could use a bit of extra income! As we would be travelling by car, suitable nearby parking is essential. Any information or suggestions would be very welcome.
grendel
There is a listing for moorings in the handy information section at the top of the page.
Guest
Thanks grendel, but those are 24hour moorings and we're after a permanent mooring.
grendel
Ah ok, sorry, I think there is also a list of boatyards that might be useful, if not, when you find the moorings let one of us on the team know and we will see if we can add the list to the handy information. Guest
Somebody wanted a list of moorings as everyone might find it useful but nobody had done one, if anyone had been asked, then some one might have done it; sadly no one has.
ranworthbreeze
I did one a number of years ago, sadly this was lost/amended when the new handy information tab was created. Maxwellian
Perhaps it should be resurrected! Just needs updating.
Guest
Thanks Alan, That's a great start but unfortunately still doesn't include non-marina moorings. For example, there are about 90 moorings in Hardley Dyke which are run by a "Club" called "The Hardley Hundred". We're on their waiting list but it might take several years to get to the top! Another example; there are at least 4 owners of moorings in Beccles. So far, it appears that only by walking round and talking to people can you find this sort of information out.... deebee29
It would be a good idea to have private mooring listed. As hirers-living several hundreds of miles away we have no knowledge of or contact with these moorings. When on holiday we see boats moored but give little thought to who they belong to or who owns the mooring. I would need people local to the area or with their own boats and knowledge of these moorings to supply the information (including contact details) Once we had this information a list could be compiled and included in the Handy Information section. I will start a new thread asking for details of moorings
