Agreed. I've never had a flat battery in my life. The cynic in me suggests boatyards labour this to avoid call outs and perhaps cover for less than up to scratch battery and charging systems.

Best practice would always be to try and cruise with the tide, but that doesn't mean you can't cruise against it. You'll just use more fuel. Tides at Great Yarmouth tend to run quickest at the bottom

OK, I’m nearly 60 and trying to re-live my childhood, except that I didn’t discover Arthur Ransome books until about 5 year ago (deprived childhood obviously).
