Nickwaiheke Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 sorry but does anyone know the name of the marina or berth provider where the yachts are in South Walsham? thank you Quote
Mouldy Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Russell Marine? Now called Marine Tech, I think. Quote
WherryNice Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Depends exactly where you mean, Bondons have a fair number of yachts on the front just before you enter the Broad and other moorings further round the Broad itself, next to Marine Tech.. sorry but I dont know the number. Quote
marshman Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 And then there are those by the Staithe - not sure who owns them! I also noticed that the moorings at the old boat club have been tidied up and some bits renewed. Quote
Helian Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Are Bondons still operating in any manner? I thought they had sold out to Russell Marine some time ago. Quote
WherryNice Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 14 hours ago, Helian said: Are Bondons still operating in any manner? I thought they had sold out to Russell Marine some time ago. My Mum phoned Celia Bondon about a mooring for their new boat at about this time last year and she was still operating then. Russell Marine(now Marine Tech) are on on the main bit of what was Bondons yard but Celia has the private basins still(or did recently anyway). Quote
Helian Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Thanks Wherry. She must be getting on now. I know Ray has passed away. We (family) moored in the private basin 50 years ago, approx 1970-74. Quote
WherryNice Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 My folks moored there between 1996 and 2014, both in the basin just before you enter the Broad and also the one that is on the Broad itself, sort of in front of their house. I forget when Ray passed but he was definitly about when they first went there. Quote
Regulo Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 I think Ray passed about 2000-2001. He showed us around the moorings when we were first looking in 1999, but we then dealt with Celia, a lovely lady, very helpful always. Hope she's OK, she used to wave to us whenever we passed, if she was down at the moorings. Quote
riverman Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Don't hold me to this, but we were supposed to do some work for her late last year and she had just gone into hospital. I believe she passed away in November. Quote
WherryNice Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Ah I'm sorry to hear that Riverman but thank you for posting, I'll let my folks know. Quote
Helian Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 I'm sorry to hear that too. Both very nice people. Ray of course suffered from, I think, polio, for much of his life. Quote
