Severe fire has been reported as Southery on the Gt Ouse.

Its not quite obvious from the photos what has happened as there appears to be areas on fire?

Looks like they may have moved a burning boat but not quick enough, to be fair the white smoke looks like mine on a cold day startup, hence the username.

I know the moorings, got to feel for them.

This is not the first time this has happened at this mooring. There was an incident in the late 2000s where some one had been burning off paint in his boat with a blow lamp, went to his car to get his lunch and in his absence his boat went up in flames taking several others with it. We considered ourselves very lucky as only a few weeks before we had enquired looking to have a mooring there but they were full!

it does appear that the boat belching the black smoke is moving progressively further from the other boats in the pictures

Once the mooring lines burn through a burning boat soon makes its way off down river or closer to other boats and that's how these fires can be spread
