We sailed past this twice on Saturday and I could not believe the noise and smell, I always thought the cottage on the other bank looked quite picturesque but now I'm not so sure.

I notice they have got their own Fire Station at the Factory but this was obviously out of its league.

I used to visit Cantley and Bury for work and British Sugar are quite rightly paranoid about fire - sugar dust is explosive! No naked lights anywhere, check your boot soles for drawing pins, smoking shelter so far away I didn't bother! I reckon as soon as the alarm went off it was quite exciting!

Hi Stumpy,

I have worked at Chip Board plants and the same safety meassures apply, as with any form of dust and its movement there is a constant risk of explosion & fire.
