  1. I am following this and fascinating Clive. Thanks for sharing this. I hope it will help your PR and marketing in some way too and it already appears to be doing that..... Great post. Keep going......
  2. Will be good to see you Col. Shame Lou isn't coming.
  3. We have 4 in total Barry, although it is usually only Lydia who wants to come along with us. We also have Lewis (15), Lil Tom (17) and Big Tom (19), the boys generally have their own weekend activities now. However, a party featuring on facebook has embargoed their right to stay at home :
  4. Great!!! Are you coming on Saturday Trev?
  5. Wow Adam and I, along with Lydia and Tom are looking forward to seeing you all.
  6. hi all!!!! In spite of some uncomfortable experiences in the murky north sea....we are up for this too! It was far more comfortable venturing out with both Mariotech and senator in front and behind us back in the summer..... We now know that we have a trim tab problem that wasnt helping but nevertheless its so much better going out with a number of other boats! see you all soon adam and suzanne x
  7. Hi John Nice picture of Jupiter Mist! No worries about our berth at Goodchild's, when we got in on Sunday afternoon in the high winds, we were rather relieved to slip into a larger space vacated by Milhan further down. Sounds like you had a good break.
  8. Found the real website now http://www.hardley-windmill.org.uk/
  9. I believe you can also view the mill which has been restored. http://www.norfolkmills.co.uk/Windmills ... inage.html
  10. Rather than a tale, I thought I would just highlight some of our happenings and findings from our week out. On board, myself, the skipper (Adam), rope waller (Lydia) and our dog Mercury. Overnights at:- Bramerton Rockland St Mary - visited the New Inn for the first time, I went in at lunchtime to book at table for the evening and it was packed with people eating. The food was excellent and it is a really cosy pub with lots of games, magazines and the daily papers to get comfy with. Well worth a stop and they have electric cards behind the bar too. Loddon Staithe - ??? a yacht covered up for the winter without people and hooked up to the electrical point ??? Fantastic meal at the Dilraj, probably the best Indian food we have ever eaten and we will definitely go back. Well worth a visit. For the first time, recognised Kingfishers, several of them on the way down to the Chet however, never close enough to get the camera out duh! WRC - met Lucky and family and his tekdek looks very good. Beautiful boat and good to meet you both. Lydia had a friend to stay and enjoyed the pool and play area. Oulton Broad - moored perfectly in our favourite spot overlooking the rowing boats and the broad having had the proverbial taken out of us by Pete, Paul and crew who do a fantastic job. Great to hear from them that they are over 1000 boats up this year compared to last year and last year was their best year ever. Well done guys!! . Another superb dinner at the Red Herring, we will back very soon. Adam had a belly pork and haricot bean cassoulet type of thing which was so good, I have spent most of this evening looking for a similar recipe on the internet to repeat at home. I had the fillet steak with devilled kidneys, which went really well together and had a great kick. Lydia and a different friend had the burger with brie and bacon. Lovely friendly service and a great heated outdoor area for the smokers. Also bought some of the beer cured black bacon from the butchers for bacon butties the following morning and it was delicious, so nice to eat proper well cured bacon. WRC - Halloween party at the Waveney Inn to give Lydia her Halloween experience. They had done a great job of decorating the pub and to Lydia's delight, she managed to win the kids doughnut ring contest...... We didn't fare as well in the adults competitions . As Lydia missed being judged in the costume competition, Martin gave her a huge box of choccies which was lovely of them. Thanks . A good night was had. Homeward bound - having had no contact or TV reception, we woke up to horrendous winds and high tides on Sunday morning and deliberated for quite some time on what our course of action should be. We eventually headed home in 40mph winds, experienced an engine failure and came across a boat which had lost its propshaft on the New Cut and was stuck. We attempted to help them, however, the inshore lifeboat arrived in the nick of time. One other point, there are now pontoon moorings at Hardley Mill with two electric points just south of Cantley.
  11. Same as Senator, we use Nick at Seabridge. We think he may be away at the moment as we have emailed him for something and he hasn't got back to Adam yet, which is very unusual.
  12. I really enjoyed reading that David, thanks and good to hear you had a lovely weekend and great service from Richardsons.
  13. Hi Col, Sounds to me like you have made a good decision. In my opinion, it has taken Olympus a long time to get back into the very dominant Canon?Nikon market place at the higher end since the advent of film died! However, that camera seems to have a spec that near matches my Eos 1d mk 111 (which I am actually quite disappointed with) and they have invested in a support system of lenses and accessories to keep the customer with their brand. Bottom line always has to be...are you comfortable with it! If you are...stick with it!! We have an Eos 50d and I have to say that it can produce some tremendous results though in no way does it have the durability factor of the 1D thats built to withstand afghanistan!!!! Our biggest problem with our cameras has always been exposure latitude or dynamic range...bear in mind that wedding photography has to suffer the extremes of bright white dresses in full sunlight to pitch black darkness of the grooms suit, and this is where they all fail! E3 included!! We use the extreme advantage of shooting at 11 fps with only one wedding shot...the confetti one!! The dual processors handle the data write speed perfecltly but I would compromise that for an extra 10 mp image quality and the ability to handle the contrast range in shots....particularly wedding images where we shoot the absolute widest tonal ranges. I cant wait to see some of your new pics with the E3 and who knows...you may get me sold on one... looking forward to seeing you all again adam...
  14. Wow So, good to see such historic photos, loved the one of the taxi being loaded in London. I imagine, then it must have felt very adventurous and exotic to take a holiday on a boat on the Broads?? Are you planning on floating her on the broads? (Edited for spillchick hick)
  15. I am going to sound really really blonde here..... What is DAB radio, as I am just about to get a new car and it has this and I don't have any idea what it means being a techno blonde phobe
  16. Mark, don't be put off by advertised prices.... there are bargains to be had. You just need to be cheeky. There are people out there with the credit crunch who need to get rid........... Try Essex Boatyards, being a home of bankers . We picked up a very good deal with Jupes from them. Col, will advise here also from his recent experience.
  17. Hmm, I thought the 'nameless' one might be Col At this rate guys, we will be having a meet in Southwold next year
  18. Sounds good, thanks. Although I don't think Adam would be too pleased if his camera got waterlogged in the dinghy
  19. Excellent Ian, thanks. We would love to see those seals.
  20. Yes, I quite agree Perry. Come on Ian, some of us have a lot to learn from your travels
  21. Just caught up with your thread Perry and fantastic to hear of your and Tina's good news...... The sea conditions looked superb on your photos.... wish we got more of those.....
  22. Beautiful Col and they are not fuzzy either. Have you changed a setting?
