  7. Hi Alan, I too have a "3" Dongle and apart from the black hole of Horning its been ok as long as you don't try to send pics. I have even watched a bit of footie from Sky or BT with it lol. I find it handy for the likes of webcams (when they are working) to check moorings etc. Iain

  9. Hi All, With Easter weekend nearlly upon us, I got to thinking about those who will be out and about on the rivers with their mobile devices. We all I think know about the infamous "Black Hole" of Horning reception, although I do believe some now, can get reception there, lucky sods is all I can say on that one! So it would be interesting if you could report back after the holiday break and let us all know which dongle or other unit you were able to use, in different places. What about free WIFI? Where can we get that out on the rivers. I fully appreciate many of you want to get away from such things, but thought it may be of interest to some if not the many. Iain.
  10. Hi Mike, Good point indeed. I may be able to get a loan of one from my mates son-in-law, who happens to drive a Renault Scenic like mine. Oh the joys of travelling! Iain.
  11. Don't forget to order the doofers and a dozen thingabyjigs, very important! Iain.
  12. Hi Alan, The problem we have with the roof box is where to store it. We just do not have the space here. I think, if I get a reasonable quote for a scooter hire. I can go and collect it myself. We drive down the day before to Kings Lynn, Premier Inn, so plenty of time before boat take over. Its the £45 delivery thats annoying me most, not the basic hire price. Iain.
  13. Oye Alan, Traitor! My legs are naff but nowt wrong with my eyesight! Iain
  14. Having stood on the spot where he kopped it on HMS Victory, they made a very good job of cleaning up the blood stains! Iain.

  17. JM Great idea, indeed. I am fine most of the time (quiet you lot!) I am really It was the main criterior which boat we hired. I noticed a gentleman come out of Royal Swan at Ranworth last May, and that got me thinking about these bathing style stern boats, hence ended up booking Broadway from Richos. I shall phone OBYS for hopefully a pontoon mooring on the Port side as you enter the YS. Basically I have sampled the freedom that my new scooter has given me, and I am being greedy I guess. I have sent a couple of emails, so I get prices to see not hear but see whats on offer. Martin thats also a good idea, but think they are more for wheelchair users. Thank you all once again for input, much appreciated. Iain

  20. Hi Paul, When good electric recliners came on the market, I bought one. Worth every penny IMHO. Iain.
  21. Thank you JM, a very kind and generous offer. Watch this space as they say. Hi Mike, It has been discussed, and I quite like that idea to shift the clothes etc with a roofbox. Iain.
