  1. Hi Roy, Without a doubt mine is the Richard Dimbleby interview about the Spaghetti Tree on the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/april/1/newsid_2819000/2819261.stm Iain.
  2. LOL Doug, very good indeed. Its a date thing! Iain.
  3. Ah its good to see my old trade comes in handy on the Broads. Cable Ties rool! If they aint on flag poles, its car wheel covers! Everything, bar what they were designed for Iain
  4. @ Tim Iain. p.s. They are also I am led to believe, die hard HIBS fans. That deffo makes them nuts!
  5. Hi JM, Many thanks for your thoughts. To answer your Q no, but do negotiate with my own one, some dodgey surfaces with my Travel one, which dismantles into four main parts. My old legs struggled last year with walking anything resembling a walk, so now that I have a scooter of my own, I thought about hiring one for the holiday. It would be handy for Norwich, Wroxham, Beccles, Loddon and Oulton Broad. I fully appreciate there are a few places where the wheels and the ground would be a serious issue of being stuck! I will of course attempt to moor as close to places of interest as much as possible. I can walk ok, just somedays the Arthritis is not nice, shall I say. I could still bring my own one, but I don't think my female crew would appreciate a Sainsbury size shopping bag for all their holiday gear! Plus of course the liquid refreshments too. I say again, thank you for raising the point. I am still having a look see what is available. Iain P.S The scooter offered online is the same model I have.
  6. I agree Alan, there will soon be, if not already, domestic crisis throughout the forum. I blame Grace though, for using the webcams toooooo much! They are knackered! Iain.
  7. Where are all these retired Royal Navy types when you require one Steve Iain
  8. Will let you off Pally with a slap from a smoked kipper! Seriously, thank you for your input. Iain.
  9. Agreed, none are cheap to hire in the UK, I had a quote from the Broadland Mobility £65 a week or £20 per day, came to £175 for 11 days I think as there is a £45 delivery charge. I will contact all of them, once Easter is out of the way. Thank you all for your help. Iain.
  10. No worries Geoff. I have it on very good authority from the BBC Weathermen - they never get it wrong - do they? - that you will have wall to wall sunshine when you and Wendy are there. There you go, job done! Iain.
  11. Nah young Alan, its only 10.58, some fool didny put the clocks forward yet! Iain
  12. Hi Mrs B, I hope you have survived yesterdays blasts ok. Thank you for latest update. Iain
  13. Bump! Sadly no email reply from the place in Hoveton. Is it closed? Would appreciate any help on this. Iain.
  14. They could of course be like a good newspaper editor and REDUCE the column by a few inches! Iain.
  15. Hi Mandy, I have been the victim in the past of Sciatica, a very painful and disabilitating ache. I damaged my nerve lifting a fully laden storage heater. (my apprentice let loose 2cwt onto my back) One thing my doctor recommended was to lay flat on the floor, anno doesn't sound very appetising a thought, but it did help a bit. I was on DF118 tabs, pure codiene basically. My Doc then, was also a sporty chappie and played cricket with me. I hope you make a speedy recovery from it, but what ever you do, please do it very slowly, so not to streach the nerve again. Iain
  16. Ah thanks for that Rincewind, so really what you are saying is, the 3RRs should really be called the Ejits Afloat Race? EAR for short! Iain.
  17. The last time I cruised down the New Cut, it appears to be becoming narrower and narrower, (Marker posts) so maybe only fit for narrow boats soon! Iain.
  18. JM I hope they film the Falkirk Wheel properly, its a clever piece of engineering. Iain
  19. For this sundays canal trip, it may be best to put subtitles on The Falkirk accent is a strange one, its neither Westie nor Eastie, maybe its to do with it being in the CENTRAL belt Geoff, look at the BBC Weather website, get the factor 5 looked out, double figure temps! Iain.
  20. Are you sure it wasnt Chicken Fried Rice Number 3? Sorry Paul, not yours or our fault, just a forum thingy. Iain.
  21. Mod hat off! I do hope any blind folks are informed about these new obstructions. Horning amazes me at times, from ZERO mobile reception, limited mooring for holiday hirers, perhaps it would be best just block it off at both ends and build a by pass New Cut. Call me a cynic, but one wonders if Horning wants any holday trade at all? Yes, what was that reply I hear from the Parish Council? Iain.
  22. Are you sure this isnt just a a column in the EDP. I think the date has a lot to do with it! Iain
  23. Dear All, It has been brought to my attention, that there is a severe bout of Lipraloof spreading throughout the Forum website. I have been told its nothing too serious and should clear up later today around noon or there abouts. If you see this phenomenon, take it with a pinch of salt! To find all answers to this non disabilatating disease, check all national newspapers, its there somewhere, honest! N.B. This has no connection with the spaghetti growing tree syndrome Yours the Lipraloof medic.
  24. Here was me thinking PIKE was a young bloke in Dads Army....duh! Don't tell them your name PIKE! JM....that's a BIG fish! Iain.
