  1. I think that is from last year Im afraid
  2. Try "Saildroid" and "Ulysse Speedometer". Both are good for slow/walking speeds and show to 1 decimal place
  3. We were moored at Coldham Hall last night when she came in, looks a really nice boat.
  4. Thats exacly how I look at it, we had 3 weeks away last year for just over £1.000. A similar boat on the hire fleet would have been over £3,000
  5. Thanks Alan, the summer ones are easy to sell, the winter ones are usually slower which surprises me as it is my favourite time of the year to go.
  6. Hi dnks, You're actually wrong, its 36 weeks owned so £12,600 per year and none of that goes to anybody as a management fee it is all spent on the boat. Mooring fees alone are over £2,500 per year then when you factor in improvements such as carpets, heater replacement, annual lift out, servicing, break downs(we try to keep these to a minimum with preventative maintenance wherever possible) anti foul, polishing - the list goes on. This is why if you can only get down to the broads for a couple of weeks each year it really is the way to go. I'm sure Clive and other yards on here will confirm how much it costs to keep a boat in the water that is used almost year round. Jon
  7. Another good one is "UK Aerial Alignment" Tells you which way to point your tv aerial. Jon
  8. My favourite is "Ulysse Speedometer" which is good for 1 Decimal Place on speed and very accurate in walking mode. Also search for "Anchor Alarm" which is great for mudweighting. Jon

    Wind!

Hi Sue, Thanks for helping out! Its Paul and Teresa on this week, their second week on the broads and their first on Southern Crusader, bit of a baptism of fire I think with such a high sided boat and these winds. Say hello from me if you see them. Jon
  11. The Eshima Ohashi bridge in Japan - the third largest of its kind in the world - rises sharply so ships can pass underneath. The concrete road bridge, pictured, spans a mile across Lake Nakaumi, linking the cities of Matsue and Sakaiminato. The two-lane concrete road bridge stretches 1.7km or just over 1 mile long and has a width of 11.4 metres making it the largest rigid frame bridge in Japan and the third largest in the world.
  12. I have the 3 "Mifi" unit, the advantage with this is you can wrap it up in a plastic bag and have it up high on the boat somewhere which helps in a low signal area.
  13. Just emailed back from my other half "Don’t even think about it!!" Jon
  14. High at Yarmouth was at around 12.45, had quite a bit to go up?
  15. Thanks Alan, Appreciate that, unfortunately we come home on Tuesday :-(
  16. We moored at Berney Arms last night with a view to going North this morning, when we looked at the tides this morning it showed a higher than predicted low tide so decided not to bother(we need 10'). I am pretty certain that about 9.30 this boat came past us, low at the Yacht Station was at 7.37, shortly after we went for a trip over Breydon, just up to the lifting bridge and back, the height gauge at the Berney Arms end was showing 8' at the bridges.
  17. We bought a couple of these, they charge either in the car on the way down or in the boats 12v sockets http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolson-61670-12V-Rechargeable-Light/dp/B0040KMZRW/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1424276106&sr=8-12&
  18. We like the Collins Guides, A5 in size and spiral bound. Perfect for us. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Norfolk-Broads-Collins-Nicholson-Waterways/dp/0007539002/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423907031&sr=8-1&
