    Another 10%

I wondered why your boat had moved from Stalham to South Walsham Broad!
  2. The electric posts at Sutton Staithe have been uncovered, no one was plugged in….
  3. Not sure why Sandstorm & Sandswift are showing different lengths as they are both 32ft! Sandswift is ex Lady Pauline or Carina from Kris Cruisers so I've spent some time crawling over her! Looks pretty much the same as the mid 90's when it was sold, even the upholstery looks the same as we had several boats with the same materiel. Huge aft cockpit and handled very well if I remember correctly.
  4. They may not pay £3K which is what you would pay for a Broadsman style boat, pretty much all Richardson's Bounty 37's are £1,400 including fuel for a week in high season - would they pay that? Or £1,900 for an Aquafibre Pearl 38?
  5. I have radiators with individual thermostats onboard powered by a Webasto. It also heats the hot water and if you have the space I can thoroughly recommend it. Not sure if our Chinese friends make these as well? Still have the Eberspacher but I don’t use it as much, usually a quick burst when I’ve been away and the boat is stone cold.

    My Day

Back on my mooring after an early and quite choppy crossing of Breydon. Winter covers on and buttoned up tight as the wind and rain is really hammering down now, looking at the forecast the rest of my week off will be spent doing various jobs on the boat rather than cruising anywhere.

    My Day

They were about 2 to 3" underwater when I went through and the tide was still rising. Bridge height at Yarmouth is 8ft at the moment with only an hour left to low water - thanks to project Troll for the info.

    My Day

I have next week off so was going to head south Saturday or Sunday, may leave it a couple of days now to the levels to settle.
  9. Herbert Woods only lift out their boats every other year, to my knowledge everyone else is yearly. It means half the fleet start the season looking dilapidated! They seem to have funds for new boats which is great but from my personal experience and a few others on here and even a staff member their maintenance appears a little sparse.
  10. Just opened my eyes from a deep slumber to see Moonlight Shadow slipping past St Benets!
  11. Just been speaking to a local and the police were called to support a Ranger recently. He wasn’t sure why as was some distance away. I don’t know what the answer is, I know some liveaboards live hand to mouth and may have issues we are not aware of. However, they should try and present a lower profile to avoid antagonising other river users.

    My Day

Flying home today after a few days training at our test centre, one day is usually hands on trying to break any new features but it was a tad rough this year! Calm before the storm, the small boat pointing towards the camera is full hybrid, works the same way as a hybrid car. It was a tad rough, watch the boat behind! IMG_1612.mov Lunch stop, not often I take photos of toilet doors but this one made me chuckle.
  13. We’ve hired the 45ft version previously, they are great boats just let down by lack of maintenance. The engine is fairly quiet from the helm, it’s just loud for everyone behind you!! A private one passed my mooring a few days ago and the exhaust was very quiet so it can be done.
  14. I’ve not posted much as it’s been more of the same really, most weekends I potter about between Stalham, Potter and Wroxham. I’ve had the kids onboard for a week and had a brief trip down south to Geldestone and back. Also visited Wells for a beach day and a couple of wild moorings and an evening / night cruise. Had 2 sets of friends onboard including a rather boozy weekend, our excuse was the weather was bad so we had to retreat to the pub! 11 days were spent working at the Southampton boatshow, split between the stand and our borrowed demo boat. We had a couple of windy days so had to remove the boat from the show as we had an exposed position. The RN patrol boat took 3 attempts and really struggled as the wind was blowing us on. We just used the IPS system to go sideaways and we’re out in a jiffy while they watched!! One in the eye for those who seem to dislike it for some reason. I spent last night at the Horning church mooring. Walked to the Ferry and had quite a nice evening meal, followed by a spooky walk back through the graveyard in the pitch black! No ghosts but plenty of cobwebs!! Mudweighted on Barton at the moment having a bit of a tidy up session before heading back to home mooring. Sweden next week to play about on more boats learning about new stuff, followed by a week in the office, then I have another weeks holiday so will be heading south again. 9f9ea7c3-6b7c-4989-9c43-b15103cf3bcd.mp4
  15. You may have seen me turn around!! Velvets on the pontoon facing onto the river!!
  16. Pretty high at St Benets as well, mean’t I had no excuse to not clean my waterline!! Hopefully I’ll be on Wroxham island tonight so I’ll keep an eye out. if not I’ll drop the mudweight in Wroxham Broad.
  17. This has been posted all over Facebook but no one has mentioned it here so I thought I would. Someone has created a website covering the history of Jack Powles, It's quite comprehensive and I'm still only half way through it all. www.jackpowles.co.uk
  18. Very hot today and made worse by very little breeze until late afternoon. I've dropped my weight on Wroxham Broad with windscreens down and canopy up to try and create a breeze tunnel, minor issue is there was no breeze until an hour or so ago! More of the same tomorrow but hopefully a bit cooler on Monday.
  19. The hybrid I witnessed coming into Neatishead was worse than a BMC 1.5 at 1500RPM, it was more like a Perkins 4108 at 1500rpm! As Robin said, correctly specced and installed gensets are barely audible.
  20. Most toilets shared the same space as the shower, with these Hampton toilets the first shower usually started with a large bang and splash accompanied by an “oh s**t” by whoever had dropped the soap down the toilet!! Never made them smell any better either!!
  21. Yup, water pump, accumulator and pressure adjustment all in one unit.
  22. Plenty of cars queuing at Richardsons this afternoon, think they have a lot out this weekend. I also made the mistake of going to Tesco’s on a Friday lunchtime!! You’d think I’d no better by now!
  23. These chargers are only powered up during office hours but I doubt anyone takes notice of who plugs in, there's a circular light that shows when the power is on. They are free and limited to one hours use but again, no idea who checks this. Looking forward to when my hybrid arrives in November!!
  24. Just noticed the McLovens ate playing at the Granary, Ranworth from 7pm on Saturday.
