  1. Hi Mike, Good to see you! It is a nice boat, and I hope you and Pat have an enjoyable time on the river from 21st. 50 sensible posts??? Now there's a challenge for you! :)
  2. You are on the money here MM a very knowledgeable owner keeps a yacht on the inland waterways but does two weeks or more annually at sea. He said the kill off time was about a fortnight, and because he does both salt and fresh so regularly, he hasn't needed antifoul for a very long time.
  3. Polly

    I'm here, where?

Soar valley? Dungeness? Romantic Cantley? Lol
  4. Oy! Who are you calling hullabaloos?
  5. I expect Griff made new ones for BA, they work on the same basis as yours; worth asking him about how they were done.
  6. We got all ours checked by RNLI recently, all well but a ticking off for no crutch straps on any of them. Oops Maybe the kids in Roy's were embracing the boaty thing and enjoying wearing them
  7. A yearly once over would not be a bother.
  8. LBBY? Wayford? Whelptons? Martham? Looks like a proper 'boot yard' job to me.
  9. I remember seeing my dad dancing around on the bank with an eel attached to his finger. I think I must have been in trouble because I was definitely on the eel's side at the time!
  10. I don't know about common sense. If you are a regular boater, there are things that are plain and obvious to you..common sense if you like... but are actually learned behaviours. Modern cruisers with their microwaves, telly, and ensuites look and feel more safe and domestic than different and boat-like. Everything works at a button press and if you are not mooring up, (that is challenging to beginners) life seems easy. My point is that some people may be lulled into a false sense of security and relax their vigilance? The Wear It campaign does seem to be working though, there are lots more LJs in evidence than there were.
  11. It dries fast too, Tim, so if Uncle Albert is aboard, you are in with a fighting chance of it drying before he adjusts it's appearance.
  12. It was indeed, but, canals Ben?
  13. And a glass of Irn Brew if it's before 10 am?
  14. Definitely my sight of the summer is this. We were pottering along the Bure, as you do, when I did a double take! We were just passing a bittern, coolly hanging out in the reeds. S/he was not bothered by a boat less than three feet away, but we were astonished! The picture below was one I took as we circled back cautiously for a second look, so were on the opposite side of the river. Note to self: do a Jenny Morgan and keep the camera handy!
  15. Hello Spider, I always think that a motor cruiser with a half decker alongside is a really good combination on the Broads, especially in the busy season on the rivers.
  16. 'This weak' eh??? I got a similar thing from 'Pay Pal' last week, so it joined all the others purporting to be from every UK bank and building society in the trash. So annoying!
  17. Thanks Carol that is good info. as always.
  18. We sometimes go to the Sywell Airshow which is always good, I just checked before posting a link, and they are sold out, so I won't be going after all either. :
  19. I looked on Google Maps and found a long tree lined inlet / dyke on the port side bank about halfway between Wroxham and Belaugh, could that be it? If so can it be explored?
