  1. I believe the offence is not displaying the toll stickers, however every time I have been unable to attach them to our boat in what I thought was a reasonable time, I have informed BA office. They promised in turn to inform the local Ranger. I have never had a notice stuck on our boat. I have many reservations about some of the actions of BA, but I have never met an unreasonable attitude regarding these matters. When I needed replacement stickers, they were sent free on request.
  2. Unfortunately for you and those in your position, this will only affect a few people, and then perhaps only once, therefore getting a lot of people to object to it and protest would probably be difficult. Hope the new boat and all the great times you will have will help to alleviate your sense of injustice.

    New outboard

We were directed to this company last year needing the valve inserts for our old rubber dinghy. They had what we needed and were very helpful.
  6. Well I'm not sure I want to belong to a club that would have me as a member. -Groucho Marks. Thank you for the clarification. I look forward to receiving the uniform.
  7. So having completed 50+ posts, the Forum opens and shows just as previously-where are all these secret threads that I have been deprived of up to now-or were they just a long April fools joke?
  8. Great work and good to learn that items have been recovered. I believe that any items recovered that have been the subject of a insurance payout are now the property of said company?
  9. Your post drew my attention to my number of posts, and it seems this may be my 50th, so if you answer this, we may enter the hallowed halls at the some time! Mind you, I have the same reservations re. "sensible" posts. Do you think we have do undergo a trial run? Have explained to us the use of commas and full stops? (And question marks!) I guess we may be on the edge fo a whole new experience, or not. Best wishes for your inauguration-if I don't make it, please let me know how it went.
  10. Bobdog, they may have been the couple from a Norfolk shoe repairers: Guy found a ticket from when he left shoes in a Norfolk repairers 7 years previously. As he was going that way, he thought he would pop in on the off chance they would still have them. He went in produced the ticket and made his enquiry, The assistant asked him to wait a moment whilst he checked. The assistant returned, and said: "They'll be ready next Friday".
  11. It is very sad to see boats in this condition. Come to think of it BB I was once my mother's pride and joy, and now I seem to spend most of my time on the bottom! Let's hope someone can do something with the boat before it's too late.
  12. Having read MMs contributions for many years-I checked to make sure he had spelt it incorrectly-I would have been disssappointteed if he hadn't!
  13. Well, the water is low-I saw something white going under the bridge....................
  14. Because the schools are full? O to be up there at these times!
  15. You're nowhere near that oil seed rape ( I think its called) are you? never had hay fever until recent years, and then only when near that stuff. Even driving past a field sets me off.
  16. I agree about that van-I guess the driver doesn't know about obstructing the camera-after all, he never needs the camera-he's seeing the bridge in real life almost every day. I always find it difficult to gauge the height of the water, I try to look at the smaller arches to do so, but it never works! I always bow to the knowledge and expertise of the pilots when I am there, and pretend I know best when viewing through the camera. The only thing that gets damaged then is my ego.
  17. Doubt if we will be able to be there, but wish you every success-well done for a good idea. Let's hope the weather is good for you.
  18. Interesting, JM, I often wondered where they draw the line between boats and toys.
  19. Just trying to be helpful...I think JawsOrca meant if it hasn't got a motor...If you edit your post Jaws Orca feel free to delete this.
  20. As the OP I did not start this tread just to "bash" the RSPB. There are other threads which had already gone down that road, and I could have just attached a comment to those. I felt that as the RSPB seem to have influence in and around the Broads, this was a legitimate question. My question may have been a little judgemental, really trying to show the relevance to the Broads.
  21. I read this thread, but afterwards it still said there were no views. Points for trivia 3 out of ten? I really must get on and do some work today.
  22. Wow, Timbo, glad you got that off your chest! And the RSPB speak so well of you!!!
  23. Yes, a reasoned response. I just get the feeling however, that if this were two other organisations rather than themselves being involved, the RSPB may have felt that the lapwings, barn owls and open land were more important! Speculation of course, we will never know.
  24. sorry this should read RSPB could someone edit please
  25. It is reported in The Daily Telegraph today that an elderly lady in Cheshire left the RSPB 20 acres in Cheshire. This land apparently is home to barn owls and lapwings, and her dying wish was that it should never be built upon. RSPB is now trying to sell this land for £6 million in order for a company to build houses there. They claim it will help to increase biodiversity. Surely if a charity is left a gift that is inappropriate or they are unable to fulfil the wishes of the person who left the gift, it should be passed on to, maybe another charity, who is willing and able to do so at a fair market price? £6 million could buy lots of land from which to exclude the general public, maybe around the Broads? Or even, in the fullness of time, decide that building homes on this land would increase biodiversity or some such reason.
