  1. I don't understand why it didn't come sooner! I topped up in anticipation two weeks ago .
  2. I belong to a wine club and yesterday it e-mailed me to say 'no more orders until it has caught up with demand'!
  3. I'm not sure that closing Norwich Yacht Station is actually necessary. Unmanned perhaps but surely not closed. Otherwise all wise precautions.
  4. Those that are open, good luck!
  5. Interesting read: https://www.nya.co.uk/vagabond-on-the-move/
  6. I suspect that all the non original top-hamper is coming off. I would imagine that for her to pass through Gt Yarmouth {Peel Ports) that she has to be insured. She was once a sea-going ship so, theoretically, she could be again.
  7. If she is going to sea then I suspect that any questionable orifices will be simply and suitably welded up.
  8. If I read the EDP article correctly then she is being assessed before being allowed through Gt Yarmouth. Through meaning her going to sea and leaving the Broads?
  9. The things that people do for kicks!
  10. With the present unknowns of the Corona Virus pandemic I suspect that some of you may be prevented from visiting your boats. If I am able and not knocked for six by the bug myself and your boat is in or around Oulton Broad then don't hesitate in demanding help, even if it is just me walking past to see that no one has nicked it or is claiming squatters rights. I can even check to see that the waterline is still above water or I can let the cat out for a run, just ask.
  11. No fun with all those tree-huggers going shhhhhhhh!!
  12. Apparently you were spotted last year, on your mobile, phoning the tolls office just as your boat's keel touched the water! Now that is cutting it fine!
  13. https://www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk/news/coronavirus-in-norfolk-uk-demand-for-hand-sanitiser-first-buses-1-6563673
  14. I should think the likelihood is pretty much as near to nil as you are likely to get. Yes, the pubs might be closed but how many fifty berth boats are there on the Broads? Provided you are well then head for the Broads!! Just hope that those onboard the week before were virus free!
  15. I understand that some if not all local bus companies have been trying to acquire hand sanitiser gels and dispensers but without much success.
  16. I have two 'residential homes for the elderly' as near neighbours, both of which have today gone into lock-down, no one in and no one out, not even the relatives of inmates. Have spoken to one of the proprietors, very worried people. Clearly the potential for the virus to quickly circulate among both staff and clients is very real and potentially devastating. My wife and I visit one of the homes and I'm afraid that we shall lose some old friends in the coming months.
  17. We don't, we either guzzle it or we sip it, depending on our social aspirations!
  18. I remember many years ago one of the guys in the yard turning wire nails into a coil using a brace & bit and a vice, Why he was doing it I have absolutely no idea!
  19. Especially young ladies with well defined sheer, both fore and aft, and preferably broad in the beam with firm futtocks! Was an ancient regular at Oulton Broad's Commodore, name of Decko, always reckoned my girl friend's mini skirts were only just below sea level, if you know what he meant!
  20. In at least one of my local hospitals the worry relates to a probable shortage of doctors. Doctors, just as are nurses, carers, cleaners etc (and their families) are all likely to go down with the virus at some point.
  21. I would never have thought of bulk-buying frying oil! Apparently sales of chest freezers is soaring, which explains why one gentleman was struggling across my local Lidle car-park on Friday with a large trolley piled high with frozen meat, he must have cleared several shelves, all to himself, greedy sod!
  22. At a guess, remembering that tradesmen often adapted a bit for a particular job, then it might possibly be for winding wire into coils.
  23. Best buy a boat in October, prices tend to be lower, and negotiable!
  24. Inevitably I fear that any approved houseboats will only be available to very well heeled folk. Personally I would like to see a few flooded marshes with community, floating home projects for those on a budget. It could so easily have happened at Jenner's Basin/Thorpe Island.
