  1. There needs to be clear instructions of the way forward.Last night there wasn't. You can see here people are drawing there own conclusions. Most people on the forum in the main are well balanced. What has been said I fear we be intemperated to suit themselves .Yes we do need to re start the economy, leisure and live our life as normal as possible I think as far as I'm concerned the Government have done a good job.Not sure what was said last was far from clear. To say those that can't work from home can return to work tomorrow. If possible dont use public transport! That's almost impossible in London. I am worried that the real effort most of us have done for weeks may be cast aside,if we just dont take care.It is a fine balance between health and economy. I had hoped we would have learnt from countries that are in front of us,and how they are coping.
  2. I posted earlier, will say again I was taken to hospital this morning. I had numbness in my right hand and face. Thankfully all tests I had proved fine. Its very clear life has changed. Fewer people in A&E checked before allowed in.For me the first time I've left home in six weeks.I hope there more detailed information tomorrow. I worry if there isn't more clarity. People, some acting like sheep will just do what they want, with no regard for the circumstances.
  3. Sorry but if you think everyone can go boating think again. One thing is very clear. If people abuse this and all start going out not taking care, the R number that we have learnt stands for rate of infection will go up again and we will be back to square one. Let's be very careful and not take risks.
  4. I don't think things will change much yet. There may be more information tomorrow. We cant go up to the boat,I certainly cant leave home until the end of June in any case.
  5. Yes,there only allowing people that need treatment.
  6. I went out this morning ,near to Dartford. Didn't want to.I woke up this morning had numbness in my right hand and right side of my face.I called 111 they were very quick they then sent a Ambulance. Also arrived quick. They did checks on me,and took me to Hospital . More checks and a blood test. All fine they couldn't explain the numbness, but were happy to send me home. Not easy keeping two meters apart. I went straight in.Those that turned up at the door. Some basic checks before allowed in.I'm pleased all was okay ,I still have a slight numbness in my hand and face.
  7. Regarding booked and paid for holidays. If the company cancels they will have to refund the cost of the holiday. If you decide you dont want to go in my cases the cost will not be refunded. We are due to spend a week in Cornwall next month. I'm fairly sure that will be cancelled. Personally we like visiting pubs and restaurants on the broads. Think we will all have to do things differently for some time.We have our own boat, when allowed and possible will go up to the boat. Cooking and having a drink on board is okay.
  8. The last time we saw the boat,February the boat was a nice(not),shade of green.
  9. The only winners (In there mind ).Is smart A####d reporters.Ask a question, get a answer, ask another question, then another. Most people understand the answer to the first question.
  10. One fact for sure the world has never seen anything like this before.I for one hope we never go through this again. There are and will be much to learn from this in future. Has any country got every thing right?I doubt it.Once we come out of this. Then is the time to see what could have been done better.
  11. On tv they were at pains to say people were in family groups. That's why some were close together. We will see in a few weeks time. Its very concerning in care homes. There it seems to account for half the death rate. Something is wrong.
  12. A very different way today to mark the end of the war.None the less think a good balance. One things for sure when we come though our own battle with covad- 19.We should have a party. We'll meet again dont know where, don't when but I know we'll meet again.
  13. We lived in Friossart Road Eltham. They say it's a small world. My Granddad was in the Royal Horse Artillery in WW1 and drove trams in the second war.
  14. The two minutes silence. Pleased to say it was totally silent her very fitting. Wh shell remember them.
  15. My shirt for today.I never served in the forces. I always wanted to be a pilot in the RAF.That never worked out sadly. However I am a member of the Royal British Legion, I joined last year.I have collected for the poppy appeal for six years and very proud to help.
  16. A very sad story Ray.I was lucky enough a few years back to do the taxi run in Just Jane.I got a real feel of what it was like for those brave men.My thoughts with you and your family and friends .
  17. Today is also my daughter Nicola's birthday and my Grandfather's if he was still with us.Nicola is forty today.
  18. Today of course is VE day.Marking seventy five years since the end of the war in Europe.Any stories you have of your familys during that dark time?any light hearted ones, near misses. For us it would have big calibrated in a big way.Due to this virus ,it wont be so.We can however still mark this in a different low key way. My parents had not met.My mum worked in the Woolwich Arsenal ,she together with my grandparents, uncle and Aunts in Eltham London. The house I grow up until I was sixteen. One day she dropped a tray of detonators. Think she frightened the life out of every one.My Father was a miner in County Durham. .He wanted to join the RAF,but was told to serve in the mines. He joined the RAF after the war,and sadly died in service of a massive heart attack when I was 28 months old. Mums brothers and sisters were to young. My eldest brother served in the army in India. I know very little about his service history. Mum said there was a number of near misses. Think the family were very lucky.living close to central London and the docks and Woolwich Arsenal. They all ,thank goodness came out of it alive. Today I'm sure we as a nation will pay respects to those that gave there life, those that suffered. A day of reflection, respect and to calibrate. All those that lived and died. We will remember them.
  19. As far as trade goes in my business We try now to go with the seasons and local. My company works with lots of local and uk suppliers. I agree about strawberries, this time of the year uk/local are wonderful. With regard certain foods available all year round. Then we are all to blame, demand came from the public. There is a real change now in supporting local.I think that will grow following on from this dreadful disease. There is much that comes in from abroad, much of which from China, that wont stop how ever much we dont like it.Most via shipping and air travel. Transport is I feel the biggest problem concerning the world.Risks accessed and as far as possible managed. The world has to return to work.We cant just wait until a vaccine is in place, which may not be in place for a year.It will be a bit like turning the tap on then off if infections rise and so on.It is perhaps the most challenging crisis the world have faced in peacetime.
  20. As I've said before lets wait and see what is purposed to in affect returning to work and leasure. A GP this morning said those at high risk will have to stay at home now until the end of June.Thats news to me.In all honesty I would return to work tomorrow go up to the boat and get back to Normal. We must take very seriously this disease, it will affect all of us for quite some time.probley until a vaccine is available. So we need to take small steps.Theres no quick fix.Lets not do what's happening in some parts of the USA,where they appear to disregard advice.
  21. I will use myself as an example. At high risk, going back I was told if no one could get my shopping or medication ,that could be arranged for my.At present Marina does the shopping and meds.
