  1. I know what you mean.We get a man in now and again to clear our guttering.I dont do ladders.
  2. Marshman, much of what you've posted is hard to disagree with.Every day we wake up and dont really know if we will see another day. There are many illnesses that can kill us.The idiots walking around with knives and guns wanting for no reason to kill someone. Being 65 with COPD and other health problems, sorry if it upsets anyone this disease is a very real risk to me.If I get it I may well die.So forgive me if I am concerned about the R number.I want to live a normal life.Fact I am allowed out once a day with Marina or one other person, I cant visit shops ,just a walk near by.Sorry if I get annoyed that perhaps thousands gather in London to demonstrate, not only not caring about there health but those of the rest of us.Yes it's very true regarding Flu,something that can also kill me Ever since I recovered from pneumonia I have the flu jab,to give me a fighting chance if I get it .COPD is a killer, something I live with .I look forward to a time when we stop talking about this dreadful disease. Until this becomes more manageable I will expect a lot from this Government and any other body that looks after us.Do I believe much of the rubbish pushed out on TV and the press NO.This post is about the Corona virus .So it's not going to be the happiest of posts.
  3. The worrying thing ,it appears the R number is starting to be going up again.
  4. As many know I have COPD, as I understand, if you have breathing problems such as Asthma, COPD etc,you dont have to wear a mask. When I went to hospital the other week used a mask,it was not easy to breathe properly. I will speck to my GP on monday for more advice.
  5. A few pics from May last year at the Yare Brundall. They had been to the steam meeting at Strumpshaw.
  6. Like Ray my opinion is, that in the early part of this outbreak. We were rightly shut down, for quite rightly our safety. Most of us accepted the reasons for doing so.In recent weeks the breaks have started to be lefted. Now the balance is hard to get right. To little to much. The Government are in a difficult position. I remember one of the chefs I work with told us about this virus which could be a big killer, sometime in late December or early January. I poured cold water on that remark and said that's been said before, SARS for example. How wrong I was. This disease spread quickly, for many weeks no deaths, then the numbers kept on raising. Now is the time to play our part ,dont take unnecessary risks.Meeting is large groups is a risk.We have all made big changes to our lives. Its far to say all of us want to get back to a near normal life.I look forward to getting up to the boat.A meal and a pint even going back to work. The Government have done mush to be commended, also some that quite frankly were poorly thought out. With this virus becomes more manageable, I believe there should be an inquiry. No finger pointing, but what worked ,what didn't and how best to deal with a virus outbreak like this in future. May also be an idea if other countries could undertake inquiry s too.
  7. We may well see infection rates raise here and in America due to thousands in close contact. Also unless I missed the latest from the Government, only six people meeting at once. Not six thousand!
  8. I see the one regarding how many can meet outside is working (not). In the news today and yesterday, perhaps hundreds or thousands protesting in London. Not even social distancing.
  9. I think it was a mixture of things. The press and TV didn't help, then people panic buying without thinking. Supermarkets kept saying there is enough to go round just dont panic. Many carried on buying, much of which went to land fill.Like many we only brought what we needed, many didn't.
  10. In the main I have supported the Government, Im far from a natural Tory. That said as I've said overall I've stood by them. This is something none of us has suffered before. What I think is some major mistakes is:The Cummings business.Support for this man that it appears helped write the rules but then just did he's own thing.Boris should have had the balls and sack him. They say we are coming out of this.Yesterday over 300 dead, really. From Monday anyone arriving at airports will have to isolate. Lets say someone arrives at Heathrow then travelling to London,no doubt using public transport. That makes it a mockery surely.Track and truce, not sure that's working properly. Personally I am concerned if I get this I may die.I want to get out of this mass as soon as possible, but to do so the infection and death rates must come down.Yes I think the Government have done alot of good work, but there are some major questions that must be answered.
  11. It lost my ticket for England v West indies at Lords this month. The MCC told ,me yesterday that my ticket was cancelled and I will be refunded. The test series will take place behind closed doors.I knew it was coming, but very disappointed. I was hoping that it would transfer to next year.We should be in Cornwall now, that's be moved to next year.West life Wembley in August, now Next year.
  12. I'm sorry to hear that.We are next to you at cove.
  13. Be careful what you wish for!
  14. I agree think it's a good way to tell who had it who not.At the moment theres not enough information .Track and truce is still hit and miss.
  15. Not sure at present in the country the balance is right.Theres still to many infected and many dieing each day. From Monday if you come into the uk,you will have to isolate for 14 days. Many things wrong in my opinion. How to do get from the airport to self isolate?Surely until you arrive to a place to isolate you if infected, may well pass on infection. Plus for example if you travel from New Zealand where infection rates are next to zero, they will have to isolate, yet New Zealand is more at risk from us going there.Too many people sunning themselves on beaches, next to no social distancing. I enjoyed going out yesterday, the first time in ten months. I just feel we are entering a very dangerous time.We have all made many significant changes to our lives, many have died. Now is not the time to relax to much.
  16. Just had a walk in our park, which is the top of our road. Only out for about 20 minutes, that the first time I've been out since 20 March. Will try to do a bit each day. There was some people around but a long way from me. The second photo, looking towards the Thames.
  17. So its become a little bit clearer, from today people such as myself are allowed out .It wont change much in reality. I may go out in the car with Marina, when she goes shopping, but stay in the car.The top of our road is ,a park I may go for a walk there, making sure not to many people are around. Looking at the tv yesterday ,concerning to see crowds of people on the beach and people demonstrating at Trafalgar square, following the death of the chap in America. No social distancing what's so ever.I think overall the infection and death rates are still to high.As for me I will take small steps,I have missed not going out.The only time was two weeks ago and that was to hospital .
  18. I agree not sure how that would work,as you say, with someone with little or no experience .
  19. This point came up the other day, regarding car dealers. One dealer said that the customer would do a test drive on there own.He didn't say what safeguards were in place. I would think a deposit and or bank card car keys of your car.Not so easy perhaps with boats, some people have little or no knowledge of boats.
  20. Just heard a piece on BBC breakfast, according to them you can go out side of your house with one person from another household 6 feet apart, avoiding shops and crowds.About as clear as mud.I will check this out Monday with my GP.
  21. Check my post from last night on Corona virus. Its the way I feel.Think I made it very clear. I do agree we all need to be very careful, theres still too many people infected. To be safer that must come down.
  22. Think If I'm correct in reading this on the BBC web page it is.If you are on your own you can meet one other person from another household outside.I was told early on that I could go out to my garden, which I've done all the time.Theres only Marina and my self in the house.Think this item suggested you were not allowed out before, which was not the case. Mind you its unusual that the press get it wrong.
  23. The news today, its been a good day. From Monday six people can meet, children can go back to school.A good day,is that correct. Yet today over two hundred people died, many of which a slow and painful death. The start of the week a airplane crashed in Pakistan. 97 sadly died.We were shocked .Every death is sad a life gone, family and friends affected by there passing.Yet today 200 odd gone many a painful death. Pain touching family and friends, the Doctors and nurses, the cleaner left to clean up the departed.A good day!Now nearly 40 thousand lives lost to this dreadful virus. HOW many more.So Monday more freedom, just think for a moment, dont take unnecessary risks. None of us has the cast iron shield. We are all at risk be careful, stay safe we must beat this.
  24. I agree ,most river users look out for one another. Like many owners I am a member of the RNLI, I have a VHF on board. As others have said there are already The Broads Authority, broads beat, boat yards and private boaters. All keeping an eye on the river.
  25. Anything that improves safety on or around water is very worthwhile.
