  1. When flour was hard to come ,Marins got some in our polish shop.Just ask for plain flour It's very good Morrisons had flour bagged up in store. ASDA had sf flour yesterday.
  2. NEVER NEVER keep rice at room temperature for any length of time.Best to cook from raw and eat .At work we are not allowed to reheat rice also.It only takes 10,15 minutes to cook.Rice has a very bad form of food poisoning, which can be life threatening! As peter said eggs are very good. Never mind the beef single malt.I like mind straight, no ice or water. There is a little Scotch in me,sometimes alot.
  3. I was going to suggest pre cooking some meals, when we're on the boat for two weeks I always cook meals to go in the oven.I think some take aways are opening. Many available on line check food availability from.pubs on the broads.Tims of soup, selection of fruit and veg.Pasta, rice, stock cubes.Tinned meats ie corned beef.hope that helps. Ian.
  4. Marina and I both work in the city.At present we are both furloughed. So at home. Our biggest concern is travel. Marina used to get a bus to Woolwich then the DLR to Bank.Me was working 14.00 to 22.00.Would get the City Thameslink, which was not very busy, sometimes busy at night. Marinas trip at times busy. That for both of us is a worry. The R rate is at present low in London 0.40.Both of us dont know when or if we will return to work.Due to my health,Marina is more likely to go back before me.
  5. Vaughan you make some very good points. Which ever way you look at it the world is in a very bad place at present. Causing long term damage, much of which hard to repair. Like many I want to return to a better norm.I dont want to say what reporters have called the new normal. We all have made sacrifices ,we must treat this disease with respect, if not it will carry on killing many.My feeling is we're almost there, but now is not the time to be complacent. We need a long slow return to a safer world.
  6. When this first came about I didn't worry about it.Thats not the case now.life is a balancing act, we are all surrounded by risks. We all wake up and really dont know if we will see another day.We balance the risks that we face many we can control some we can't.I have taken risks throughout my life. That is life. With this disease as far as I'm concerned I must reduce as far as I can those risks. This is a very nasty disease. I worry that people my relax too much and a second wave will come back and bite us.Chris has put it very clear,a 747 or a A380 falling from the sky every day. I have only known one person who's had covad- 19.Thankly she recovered. We all want to go about our life as free as possible. We must keep the lid on this thing. If not it may well be two or three 747s or A380s.
  7. Just to be clear,I'm good at cooking no problem. DIY and me dont mix.
  8. I just want to fill in the gaps, that have appeared over time.
  9. It's not only this virus that is mad. There are many way Vegans can celebrate. Let the rest of us celebrate meat and fish in our own way.
  10. The one thing I know for sure. Is as someone with COPD, there are many symptoms of my disease, that are similar to symptoms of Covad- 19.High temperature, breathing problems (to a greater or lesser)extent I live with breathing problems always. Lack of energy, tiredness. To mention a few.If these appear, its a warning of a possible chest infection. Not sure what you mean about the photos.
  11. I do fear that the second wave will come back to bite us in two weeks time.I agree with Chris, theres a lot of pushing and trying to stretch limits. Also think theres a big problem with public transport. No one would be more happy then me if I'm proved wrong.
  12. Yesterday I started to paint Alan's old bedroom.Part of our plan to sell up and move to Norfolk next year.Happy days,That just leaves our bedroom, living room hall and stairs.Hope to get our room done and perhaps the living room done tail end of the year.
  13. The next month is going to be crucial, in seeing if the R number goes up or down.I still worry that some will disregard advice. Its clear that very tough measures taken by all of us have worked. Now more then ever important trying to keep the lid on this.Pictures on TV yesterday and today, lots of people back on Public transport.
  14. Think its welcomed. Sadly for me won't be able to leave home until the middle, end June.
  15. I think in the words of yes Minister. This is the guideline of the sub sub committee that reports back to the sub committee. That then have report back in writing to the sub sub committee .Then they will respond back,to the sub committee, then only then will they recommend to Ministers what tea to have in the canteen.
  16. The PM said yesterday ,not a direct quote, but in affect if you are using public transport and social distancing is not possible, its advisable you wear face covering, but you dont have to. Think this is the problem, too much has been left vague and people then draw there own conclusions.
  17. Think they've said more trains will be put back on.Public transport is the largest worry for all of us.
  18. I think the new rules will be pushed this weekend. Many will try there luck to see where they can go.And how much they can get away with. This morning reps from the lakes and some of the seasides have said stay away.Dont come here yet.Sorry Alan people going to work many of which have very little choice, have to use the transport system. More trains are needed now.
  19. I think theres alot of trying too get a square peg into a round hole.boating for most of us is not a sport, it is leasure. Let's wait until we can safely return to our boats.
  20. What is clear, its not clear. Marina has just got a text from her boss.As far as he and Marina is concerned. Nothing has changed, she and others will get at least 48 hours notice before returning to work. For us in London the biggest concern is transport.
