  1. Theres no way I will ever work in a pub or Restaurants.I will do some work but as much as I love cooking.Once I stop(which could be soon). That will be my lot.
  2. Chocolate brownie cheesecake. I used to make between 35 to 70 each evening. All hand made.
  3. I think your right, when we come out of this. Many of us will change.Something only time will tell. I still get a buzz cooking for people, be that two or two thousand. Not so keen on much of the red tape that goes with it. We have our second Zoom meeting on Wednesday, then one to one. What I find hard this dreadful disease has thrown a big spanner in the works.I wanted to go when I was ready . My dessert a few days before my lay off.
  4. Funny enough Loddon/Chegrave are on the list.I'm probably will have to stay at home until at least middle to end of June. When I'm allowed out we will be up double quick.
  5. We are lucky in that crossrail, starts and ends at Abbey wood about two miles away and this increased the value of the house It was always our intention to start the process spring next year.
  6. Yes and no As I've said here we are using this time to redecorate the house just Finnished Alans room.Next our room possibly starting next weekend. We are having our electrics being brought up to date next week.We are like many unsure what the housing market is like. The value of our house was doing well, and together with our wish to down size, leaving us with some money in the bank.We still intend to move next spring ish.My feeling is to get the best offer from my company as possible. During this time we have done lots of thinking for sure.
  7. 23 May 2021 I can get my state pension. Not sure what will happen in the next few weeks however. My company have started a consultation process with us.As caterers much of our business has been badly affected .Where I was working,at our busiest we cooked for not far off 2,000 a day, that's dropped to less then 300.They have offered a package, working part time, job share, relocation ,possible voluntary redundancy. I have yet to decide my way forward. Before this madness took hold,it was my plan to see out my time with them until I retired .
  8. A very very expensive one!
  9. Just checked, grendel is spot on.Its cruising speed is 17500 MPH.I think to get to orbit, its speed is close to 25k MPH.
  10. Okay I should of said 25k MPH.Think that's faster then your Volvo
  11. I fully understand and agree this is a personal choice. My main reason to do this post,is clear. The change in law which is important. Of course each and every one of us needs to make a choice. Its been said before but worth saying again. What ever you decide, make it clear to your family that is your wish.
  12. Think it travels about 25 MPH.
  13. Sir Tom is now starting a foundation now to help others that have been affected by this dreadful disease. I'm sure he was raise a few Bob for that also.Good luck Captain Sir Tom.
  14. I take your point Paul and fully understand. Sadly the medical profession does not always get it right.
  15. I am sorry to hear your story Paul. The piece on Breakfast this morning was very well balanced. Both familys involved of the little girl and the boy have become very close friends .On a personal note I'm not sure if any of my organs are of use,but as I've said in the event of my passing,If any organs is of us and can help save a life so be it.
  16. I can only say the Doctors would take a decision as to if a organ is suitable. The important thing is,there is a need to increase organs available for donation. This law came about when the parents of a little girl, came to a very tough decision to allow there little girls kidney to go to a young boy ,following on from a car crash that sadly killed her. Both the girl and boy were nine.
  17. It was briefly mentioned last night, and a piece this morning on BBC breakfast.
  18. From today, the law has changed. Every one of us will be expected to donate our organs on our passing. This will greatly increase the number of organs available to the many that badly need a transplant. Those that dont want to donate for many reasons will need to opt out. It it advisable to inform your family and they you. I for one welcome this long overdue change to the law.Marina has had two kidney operations. Thankfully repairs, she didn't require a transplant.
  19. Finnished painting Alan's bedroom. Now that is just three to do.Our bedroom next.
  20. Cross rail,a good idea about twenty years out of date.Marina and I have been married almost 43 years. We first moved to Thamesmead from then to this day, theres been talk of bringing the underground to Thamesmead. HS2 ,another good idea twenty years ago.Think it should link up further up.A huge amount of money.
  21. Griff, not sure about the common sense idea. Many at time I've seen skippers come into moor boat moving jump off rope in hand trying to tie up.Boat still moving, then a few heads pop up from below, what do we do.Thats in a normal year On a serious note until people are allowed to stay on the boats for any length of time. Most will be private owners and should be more experienced.
  22. I want Niclola,Alan and our families to be safe.Would be happy to see them soon.
  23. Life is short, live it to the full.Tomorrow we may not be here. Not to take unnecessary risks.Too many have died often alone without family to be there when they pass.Still to many not worried if they get this disease or not.Thankfully most recover from this those not so lucky die a horrible death. It affect lungs heart, kidneys, liver. If you are lucky it may take weeks to fully recover.I have lived so far a fairly good life.I want to live some more, I still have more to see and do.We all need one another.Just be careful . "It dont matter if I go and do that it wont hurt"?It may do.Normal life is on hold.I like millions want a return to normal.A drink with friends on a Saturday night,a visit to watch a film.Watching the Blues winning the cup.Westlife at Wembley. A sunny weekend on the broads. My life is my house with Marina, the garden that's it for now.WE must not take our life for granted if we do ,we may not live another day.lets stick together and beat this nasty nasty disease. Take care and be safe.
  24. Bet that was interesting guessing if it would work or not.
  25. I won't take my health for granted. Simple things like a walk beyond my garden or the front door.A meal in a pub or restaurant. To see family and friends. These are just a few.I could mention more.
