  1. This seems a backward step,we are all asked to recycle and dispose of our rubbish responsibly. This just makes it harder for all of us. Ian
  2. Hi every one better late then never,he is my photo I am the one in the middle,to the right is Ron (chopper) Harris,to the left is Kerry Dixson. Ian

  4. Hi Iain Yes what a voice i was lucky enough to see Pavarotti 3 times he and AB singing makes the hair on the back of your head stand on end
  5. Any help for pubs is good news.Gone are the days when pubs would be full every day(mainly with men). There is so much choose yes supermarkets have cut into trade, drinking habits have changed.Well run pubs seem to do well in the right location. Some pubs suffer from a lack of custom due to many factors, many can be helped if they diversify.Recently there was an item on look east looking at the cross keys at Dilham, converting part of the building into a small shop, others offered food for pet dogs! The main point I can see is to catch as much trade as possible. When i was younger there were pubs on easy corner, often packed, why have things changed?Drinking habits, supermarkets, smoking bans etc.In truth it is perhaps a bit of every thing.I have been a chef all my life.Like many chefs of my age i have had to change. In my early Life working in hotels we cooked for the well off, working people would eat at the weekends mainly on special occasions. Now people will eat out more often.habits and times have changed. Not so long ago there was only five channels now there are hundreds. To underline my point as I write this I am drinking my supermarket wine, last Thursday In the pub at the 02.I really do hope pubs survive, they form an important part of British life. Ian
  6. I was lucky to see Andrea Bocelli at the 02 last Thursday. Also I got an upgrade .The concert was brill, for me he is the best since Pavarotti. He was supported by a full orchestra, two choirs and two sopranos. If you like classical music and have not seen him, then try to do so you will have a great night. Ian
  7. We have one, she's called sweet kingfisher, smaller older, but she does it for us. Ian
  8. Yes I also should have welcomed you,we are a mixed bunch, but share one thing in common. We all love the broads, boats and norfolk(and suffolk). best wishes Ian
  9. I understand many people will now read on line instead of a paper copy, but like many others i think the mag did lose its way and tried to please every one. However i did enjoy reading about the broads, other areas (not Norfolk or Suffolk)were not of much interest to me.Perhaps as Alan suggested if it does come back,I would suggest it sticks to the broads. Ian
  10. How far would you go?well today we went from home(near dartford to our boat Brundall). To put our outer covers on the boat and do some odds and ends.Around trip of about 240 miles. Sadly no beer or 9p a litre petrol. Ian
  11. I spoke with them at the start of November asking when i would get novembers issue, they said tomorrow 15 November. No talk of next year only two issues.I will speak to them again Ian

  13. I still call it eastwoods anyway,Graham did a very good job on the boat.We went from Loddon to brundall. The weather was good we got moored up just before it rained, happy days. Friday evening we had dinner at Thai on the river. The last time we went there, the service was poor. The food was good. This time the service and food was good.So give it a try. Ian
  14. Our boat is at loddon for repairs we will pick her up tomorrow, then on saturday make our way back to brundall. Perhaps stopping for lunch at the reed cutter ,depending on weather etc. Ian
  15. Hi every one I think this will be our last trip this year.we are going to pick up our boat from Graham at Muffets. He has done his magic, working on the front of the boat.so we will take sweet kingfisher back home to Eastwood. If you see us give us a wave Ian
  16. Tonight 20.00 they are on a wherry and talking about working Suffolk punch horses. In the early '90,s we had two holidays on a horse drawn caravan out of diss, great hols almost as good as boating.Eric the owner gave us tips on handling.Horses don't like pigs or sheep which they think are wooly pigs. When they spot one they turn into Red Rum. If you can try catch. Ian
  17. Also not sure how deep it is ,but our boat does not have a problem. She is Alpha 29.You could give Graham a call at muffets. Ian
  18. Last year we removed the soft furnishings ,this year so far we have not decided we do however leave the windows and door open.We have had window covers fitted and they will be in place once she is winterised. Also we put large tubs of salt in each cabin. Ian
  19. Hi Kev Welcome from me,don't worry you will find a way to get on the broads often.Where are you from? Ian
  20. Its not to dear, thanks to trainline and I enjoy the trip up
  21. Instead of foil try baking parchment it won't stick. To cut down on washing up,use one or two pots.Chicken casserole, onions and carrots diced, lightly colour in a fry pan diced chicken or chicken fillet lightly fry.Season and add mixed herbs, use about one and a half pints of chicken stock reduce in you fry pan whisk in some gravy mix.cook in the oven for about One hour.If you wish buy a dumpling mix available in most shops.Make up , and rolls into small balls place in your casserole and cook for another half hour.Try a rough cut of veggies,Ie carrots leeks new potatoes etc, season and lightly oil and bake for about the last 40 mins of your cooking time. Give it a go Ian
  22. Hi Steve Alan is right, when we need fuel at Brundall we go to brooms they are nit the cheapest, but is close to Eastwood.Horning is cheap,I think sutton was the cheapest in September £1.18.Its horses for courses. Its not good getting cheap fuel if you spend 1,2 or 3 hours traveling to buy. Just one question way are you lifting your boat so soon? Ian
  23. Well I started something, what is clear we all love Norfolk and Suffolk.Having traveled over most of the uk and many countries, the broads is always in my thoughts. We live and work in london, what is great when we spend a weekend on the boat, after work I get on the train at Liverpool street and Norfolk kicks in. Ian
  24. Is it because of the endless skies, the people, the coast ,the small pretty villages. The pubs, the beer. The changing scenery, ducks that wake you up.The food, wildlife not just ducks.Last and by no means least the Broads. It is for me all of the above. What about you. Ian
