  1. As far as I say this year the boat show was better then the last few years. It was good to see the broads being well represented,as well as all the boat builders.Faircraft and Richardsons were there,we meet Clive(C.Ricko).The crew on there stand were helpful and funny. We managed to spend a few bob like most years, among other things we bought new fenders(not pink)white, hopefully keeping her nose bump free. It was pity that no boats were outside in the dock, however a much better show.So if you can get along give it a go. Ian
  2. Just a few tips, a easy pate, one shallot finely choped, cook in a hot pan with out colour, add chicken livers, cook until done, add a little sherry, reduce a little.Allow to cool slightly, blend with butter.Allow to set, serve with crusty bread or toast, If you feel lucky try this, line a dish (oven prove),with smoky bacon, add layers with the following minced veal, shallots sweated without colour, seasoned, minced pork, shallots sweated without colour, seasoned.Add to the some finely copped herbs,i.e. sage, and parsley.cook for 1 hour perhaps longer.Allow to cook and set.Serve as above with crusty breeder toast. best wishes Ian
  3. We are going to the show tomorrow, will let you know whats its like, good or bad, have a feeling it will be good.Anyway as I said will give you some info. Best wishes Ian
  4. It is a good show, well worth a visit, and as marina said we have spent money at both shows. If you have not been before try to make it. Ian
  5. Yes our cat went missing in the summer, lucky for us she returned 24 hours later, saddly our dog tess had to be put to sleep two years ago, just before christmas. It is indeed like one of the family going. Ian
  6. Hi to everyone, wishing you all a happy new year, may all your days on the boat/river be good and peaceful.Hopefully will meet up with more of you in 2015. Best wishes Ian,Marina and sweet kingfisher
  7. As Marina said we are giving it one last go,we are hoping that it will be a good show.I get the impression that it may be.What ever happens we will post our findings here. Ian
  8. It was a very good day,Alan and Dave came round for lunch lots of presents, including The pub signs of the broads that many of you were aware of,I know who you are.Still it was very nice to get them from Alan.Tomorrow we are popping up to see the boat and hopefully to have a spot of lunch. Wishing you all a Happy new year
  9. You know you are getting old, when not only the police look younger, but any one in a position of power, Men give up there seat on a bus or train for you Ian
  10. What I find amazing is santa has a drop of scotch or brandy at every house, there are millions of houses and jet he does not seem to be over the limit. Also rudolph also has a mince pie at every house and still fly! have a great christmas and new year. Best wishes Ian
  11. Yes I agree,It will take a time to get over missing strictly on a Saturday night. Ian
  12. You boys perhaps next year I will give you some cooking lessons.Bbq chestnuts easy, get yourself a tin from the pound shop, cross your nuts(chestnuts that is).Place in the tin and cook as I said before. It will work. Iain what can I say for me veggie wise what works for me best is peas, spinach, still if frozen sprouts float your boat thats ok,still try me idea with chestnuts or diced smoked bacon will improve the taste. Ian
  13. Yes we had a nice few hours the boat is looking good hard to believe from the boat we saw last year. Well done Alan and Dave. Ps they put down some of the flooring after we left. Ian/dads
  14. Unlike Marina i am not a fan of sprouts however there are other ways to try.Finely slice add sliced red or spring onions cook with a little oil in a hot pan until lightly brown. An old idea blanch in boiling salted water refresh after about 2mins,in cold or iced water drain off well.Fry in a hot pan with a small knob of butter, what is nice for Chrismas is to add pre cooked chestnuts, many supermarkets stock pricked chestnuts,if you prefer to do your own, cross the nuts and place in a hot oven, and cooked until the outer shell starts to peel off.roughly chop and add to the sprouts. or you can use in stir frys. Ian
  15. And the winner is caroline, the girl from norfolk. For me she over the last 3/4 weeks showed her skill and class, good luck to her.roll on next year hoping to see a live show. keep dancing ian

  19. Hi Andya We to have a hydraulic drive,I do not have the skills to play with the hydraulics or engine, but i know a man who can.He is Graham, at Maffets Loddon. He I am sure can advise you. Ian
  20. Hi to everyone, this is my first christmas on the forum, and so far its been great to be on it.I wish all of you a very merry christmas.I hope all of you get lots of goodies. Best wishes Ian
  21. Marina is correct,we first returned to the boat show in 2009,Mainly to get Alan a be-lated christmas present(a gps).He got a gps and we brought our first boat Shetland 4+2,little kingfisher. The show was very good.It seems to have slowly gone down hill since. It is also close to the German boat show,Perhaps that does not help.Still we will see how it goes,We will go to the horning boat show anyway. What ever show it is good or bad we seem to spend money. Ian
  22. Mine was in the sixties,we had boats from martham. Great times I remember Wroxham and Horning, also the locks. When My Mother and I returned to the Broads about 10, 11 years later.Things fell into place but we never went back to the locks. Along time went by,until about ten years ago we started boating again.I told Marina and Alan about the locks, then Alan managed to find the pub and we paid a visit the following summer,as many of you will now the middle part of the pub is almost the same as it was all those years ago.since then we return when ever we can. My question is what was your first trip on the broads? Ian
  23. The photo were we looked cold ,was taken on the weekend we took sweet kingfisher from nbs at wroxham back to brundall.Leaving wroxham it was sunny and warm, during the trip it became colder and wet.Never the less it was great getting our new(old) boat.
  24. I partly fell in this year on holiday. We moored for the night at Reedham ferry,Like a good samaritan I went to help a boat having problems mooring.Taking a rope and walking backwards, one of the planks gave way,my left leg went in,however I kept hold of the rope.We tied up the boat.No bones broken only my pride. One of my ribs was sore for about 2 months though. Ian
  25. Two can play at that game,we have lots of baby photos! Ian (dads)
