  1. Here is your answer to lack of moorings and these can come with a pump to hose off. Non permanent, revert to the norm in winter. As for finance, charge, like every other boating destination.
  2. Totally agree Robin! I only see two ways for The Broads, firstly the "Eco" way and secondly an up- market way, injecting "Style" into it as a destination, something that is and has always been missing. A mixture of both would be ideal. I am not trying to put down anyone's experience or views on this matter, but like me most regular subscribers here are getting on a bit! And like me you were brought up on a business model of " The all important Repeat business" . That is a dinosaur holiday business strategy. The folk out there in their 30s or 40s at the height of their earning power want the experience. Even if they have the best holiday ever they will not return for many years. Richardson know their market and how to stay on top and that is constant "New Business". To many of us it is not attractive but it is fact. Get rid of the mud and goose muck in the season and go up market, use the temp pontoon like they did at Horsey. Then come Oct 1st revert to nature. And push the Southern rivers a lot more!
  3. Never knew they existed Ray, cheers I will try some.
  4. Nowadays there is a tunnel. Don't think that many make the drive over the top. It is in places, actually a lot of places not for the faint hearted.
  5. My only claim to Mini fame was a Clubman. Judith and I drove it to Andalusia twice in 1972 and it was faultless. The only mod it had was an oil cooler as we often drove for hours on end and I rec. The extra pint of GTX ( a great leap in oil tech) would do it no harm. At Aix les Thermes hotel in the Pyrennes at the start of the climb up the Col de Puymorens. Snow at side of road in July. I was 23 then, 51 years ago!
  6. Land shoes and deck shoes and the changing between the two used to be commonplace when I was young. Along the South Coast at any rate, maybe we just got lazy, or modern waistlines make a simple task like changing shoes a chore.
  7. A little light reading on the subject. coastal-protection.pdfCoastal-Processes-Within-The-Plan-Area-Web-based-version.pdf
  8. It appears in excess of 10 million phones did not work including virtually all "3" customers.
  9. At 1515hrs I realised mine had not gone off, it is a Samsung S20. I opened it to see if there was a message and swiped down from top. The message then appeared and the warning sounded. I don't know if I have blocked it in some way.
  10. I think it is Pickerelweed, Latin Pontederia cordata. It is an American plant but grown as an ornamental pond plant in Europe
  11. The logging of multiple refusals to pay. I don't thiink they were asking for details of ownership. They asked if he was the registered owner. They have details of ownership from the Reg. No.
  12. Me to, but you would be surprised what does effect it. Couple (our age) in village down sized from large family home to small bungalow in same village. Their credit rating fell, why ? They became a new entry on electoral role. Bl**dy daft.
  13. P.S. Total reliance on Transition X Varifocals does not help either.
  14. I to have swallowed the anchor. 15 years ago I could skip along a narrow side deck in a seaway and know instinctively how the craft would move and go below down a companionway freestyle. Now I would have to hold on all the time and with painful arthritis in my shoulder and hands my sailing days are over, I don't trust myself any longer.
  15. I hope that in asking if you are the registered owner, which of course gives them access to your personal details, they don't intend to register the debt, which in many cases is free with members of the CICM until the debt is large enough to act. If such a debt is registered it could have serious consequences for credit ratings.
  16. Like rough shooting and wildfowling, so with deep sea fishing. " It is the unpredictability of the sport that makes it so addictive and exciting"
  17. P.S. Not sure that I would want to leave my boat there during The "Richardson Stampede" of an afternoon!
  18. 1 off mooring at downstream end. Came up 3 or 4 years ago. The Mill House, across the road from How Hill House has rights in it's deeds for access and a mooring. Makes sense really:-- Wherry in wheat:- Wherry out Flour.
  19. Because grit is capable of getting stuck in the razor cut soles found on good quality deck and sailing shoes and boots. It then can act as a really good abrasive agent on decks and cockpit soles. Who ever specifies crushed concrete and or grit obviously has never owned a cherished craft.
  20. I and I am sure many others who travel The Coast Road will miss this landmark twix Mundesley and Trimingham.
  21. Some excellent big game / Sport fishing off Lanzarote. Hope you like Tuna!
