  1. you can buy these as a cast resin part, or you would find something suitable you could modify with modelling putty, or make a mould and former and stamp them from thin metal sheet (or indeed turn them up on a lathe) for me, owning the printer and having the CAD skills, 3d printing is just another tool (and saves me having to go out and buy something made by someone else.)
  2. Alan, they are about half the size of a fruit pastel, and are the 'clear' centres for the vents.
  3. it all depends on the point of balance as to how much evidence is required on one end of the scale, if you move the balance point nearer the target, then the weight of evidence required decreases, Viz, with a big enough lever and the right fulcrum, I could move the world. not only do I look for balanced views, but I also try and locate where that balance point is situated.
  4. reprinted the roof vents in black, chromed they look a lot better as the black just shows as shadow, today i also printed out some new interior lights.
  5. I bet as much as you like even if they do get it working it wont work on my phone. (its a basic calls and text phone)
  6. plus there is the horsey trip boat covering that area too.
  7. charles they used to, but i did spot they had added a line about fuel to the hire details though of course when i booked last october i got the old last year price without fuel deposit the boat description now says
  8. perhaps they ought to offer dominic cummings a free boat holiday on the 4th and see how fast things happen
  9. I would have thought that during a period of lockdown when everyone should be at home was not a wise time to be trying such a scam.
  10. Yes, they allow solo hire, so 1 adult 1 child should be fine, they are a very helpful yard.
  11. Welcome, I would suggest Tumbleholm or Janet from Marthams, I would have recommended Jayne as well, but I should be aboard her that week.
  12. Unfortunately for you, I have Jayne booked for the last week of July (21-28th if it is allowed by then), I can say she is a lovely boat, but so are all of Marthams, Janet is another nice one, I see Tumbleholm is available that weekend on a Friday Start or Janet, also a Friday Start. MM, if you are going to be about I will have to pop up and visit you.
  13. I use the molotow liquid chrome pens which are very good, not cheap mind you.
  14. playing with one of my new action cams i was testing the photo capabilities. these action cam types are small enough to sit in the cockpit of the model
  15. So another 4 roof vents were printed along with the clear (ish) inserts, and then it was out with the chrome pens for finishing, as i cant get the pens all the way into the holes and some of the original green shows, i may well reprint these in black for the finished items
  16. they had better not rename our chalky off white cliffs (thats chalky as in made from chalk, not as in the nickname from previous generations)
  17. i have to stick my hand up to backtracking in a supermarket, last weekend i had 4 shopping lists, and at times that meant backtracking several times down some aisles, the alternative though was stopping in the middle of each aisle to read 4 shopping lists. (at least i followed the arrows)
  18. we already accept a reasonable loss of lives from influenza every winter, numbering in the thousands, yet we dont lock down each winter to prevent that, so at some point we will have to accept this as another daily hazard to try and avoid, and try and get back to normal. bluntly the truth is that at some point we are all going to die, and its sad for those around us. If we lock ourselves up and dont go out we can possibly avoid risks, but at the end of the day we have to accept some risks and get back out there and enjoy what life we have left. we mitigate the risks somewhat when we take the flu vaccine every year, but we accept that a strain may become prevalent that we have not been inoculated against and carry on as normal. OK this beastie is more dangerous than flu, but there has to be a point we accept the risk and get back to near normal. (or the new normal, whatever that is - I used to find it strange seeing orientals wearing masks in their daily lives, now I think we all see the point.
  19. and if you ever wanted to see how a 3d printer actually works, here you go.
  20. well something called work keeps getting in the way, but i do try and get a little bit done every day, thus i get maybe half an hour or bin extreme cases an hour done each day (on the days i can get something done).
  21. Todays work, the roof vents, produced in CAD and printed, i have still to print the centres in a translucent materiel
  22. well we do have nearly 100 pages here to prove it isnt

    First Photo

I keep telling you, its not a boat, its a submersible.
  24. I just find abroad is full of hassle, everyone drives on the wrong side of the road and i just find it stressful, whereas on the broads i can relax.

    First Photo

Well here are the first and second pictures from my first broads holiday, not so long ago as some here as it was only back in 2010, suffice to say i loved it and my ex hated it, so for me its a good job we split up. we are still on friendly terms though.
