  1. I used to use it to make signs to go on site, never had a problem with it myself.

when is half term, lads week is in October too.
  5. Well a double dose of steaming tonight, the last roof beam, plus a thinner wider beam bent up in the shallower jug, this will end up as the trailing edge of the roof, and be shaped to a curve for the edge of the roof.
  6. You could start a separate thread for each boat type, then keep the thread boat specific.
  7. its been a while since I had a volvo that had a distributor, most just have 1 coil per cylinder now (or 1 per 2 cylinders) and the rest is done electronically
  8. I think (looking at martins figures) that the problem is that co is lighter than oxygen, but not lighter than the nitrogen in the air, since the nitrogen makes up the bulk of the air (78%), and since it and the co are the same weight, it doesnt rise comparative to most of the atmosphere, but builds up at the higher elevations (or more to the point the oxygen sinks down to be just above the carbon dioxide) without air circulation (ventilation) therefore the co builds up in the nitrogen and displaces the oxygen we need. on convection alone if the co levels are increasing, then it wont flow out of the ceiling vents as its mixed in with the nitrogen, but is slowly displacing the heavier oxygen. so stirring the air about will help, but the co will get you as its mixing with the nitrogen faster than it can flow though the ceiling vents. that and if the incoming air contains the co, then its not refreshing the oxygen.
  9. that was just what I found on the internet (maybe an american site) for the non overhead cam version. the big problem is working out which is cylinder 1 on the distributor, but at least if you assume then its just a case of trying each of 4 as no1.

  11. looks like it may be pre 1909 as it doesnt have the ltd on it, but definitely pre 1965 when the hibernia factory shut
  12. adjustment is easy, to back off the blade a sharp rap on the back end of the plane, a tap on the wedge to advance the blade.
  13. hibernia on the blade, sheffield on the frog
  14. todays work, cleaning up waxing and sharpening the wooden jack plane I got at the boot fair this morning, then steamed the next roof beam. yesterday the racking containing 40 drawers was mounted on the wall behind the bandsaw, so a bit of tidying while steaming was in progress, and charging batteries for cordless drills etc.
  15. yes there are way too few interior shots of the Martham fleet.
  16. I see there are two yachts moored up at horning now, wonder if they are withdrawals or have finished.
  17. no idea, I just saw them arrive at Horning
  18. I saw another yacht arrive back at Horning earlier, and two of the small dinghys arrived back under tow from the rangers before that
  19. the straight parts of the roof supports have been cut from teak to 10mm x 5mm, 2 more supports to steam and I will be ready to start constructing roof sections.
  20. Well now, back to the model, today has seen another roof beam steamed - without getting my thumb involved.
