  1. it was one of the jobs I wanted to get done before the wooden boat show, I am not expecting to get all the detail work done, but the rear cabin roof is also on the list, I have just been looking at hinges for the windscreen and tops of the cabin sides. added to that I want to finish the planking on #2, 4 or 5 planks each side left to do.
  2. after all that work the hull of model #1 needs to sit for a few days for the paint to dry, there is 1 run that needs to be flatted back and oversprayed once it is properly dry. meanwhile the front cabin roof gets its detailing started, the join covers across the roof have been added, these strips cover the joints in the sheets that form the roof on the real thing. the skeg has been primed from its brass. and reattached loosely until I can get inside to reconnect the rudder and prop shaft.
  3. I thought about delineated the white, but as I still have to work out the waterline I figured extra layers of paint would do no harm.
  4. second coat of white added and masking tape removed.
  5. It being a gorgeous day outside, model #1 has been getting its looks attended to, after removing all of the running gear, and some masking up, some paint has been applied. firstly yellow filler primer, 2 coats of that, then the first coat of white gloss. the rubbing strakes will be applied later, once the paint has had a good chance to dry out.
  6. when an oik kicked our front door in he suddenly was facing me, and I was up and chasing him, my wife phoned the police - we were the third house in the area, and they were already at number 2 - they arrived within 30 seconds, and he was caught shortly after. as his mum was the first house he kicked the door in and she had made the first call - she came round apologised and asked if we were prosecuting, when we hemmed and hawwed she went on - please prosecute, he is out of control and needs to be given a sharp lesson.
  7. always worth contacting the police, if you dont report it they wont be able to add it to the statistics, some crimes only get investigated once a hot spot forms, eg if 5 reports of stolen Catalytic converters come in from the same street it forms a hotspot so gets investigated, if nobody reports it- there is less chance similar crimes will get investigated, so always worth reporting - even if you think nothing is being done.
  8. and the glue is now setting on that plank. played with my new knurling tool on my lathe.
  9. Ah yes the youth of today, I had similar when 4 tents of young lads found the tent with 4 girls and stayed round the fire chatting for half the night. when I woke at 1am they were still going, but I did wake them up when I needed the one wheelbarrow for the site and their food was in it (I pack of bacon, plus 3 crates of beer.)
  10. once you have fixed it you will be an Ex - Spurt
  11. last night the previous plank was glued, another shaped steamed and clamped ready for gluing tomorrow.
  12. I bet Tim has as much fun camping as I did the other weekend.

  16. I had just assumed you got carried away with the belt sander, or leant too close to the table saw.
  17. one must remember that large people have feelings too - and yes most wish it was that easy to lose weight, my knees too are shot, when I had a motorcycle accident 20 years ago now, my knees were diagnosed with osteo arthritis, and I dont suppose they have go any better since.
  18. Almost tempts me to pack the tent and stove in the car and join you, downside is I have work the rest of this week.
  19. working on the boat - dib dib dib, dob dob dob, dab dab dab - and that's the painting done.
  20. No, a super moon only appears to be about 5-10% bigger than normal....... All credit to the bloke though for not being ashamed to show his body, some larger people do experience self consciousness over sunbathing, and we wouldnt want to appear to be poking fun at him just because he is on the larger side. I too am on the larger side of things but as I burn at the slightest suggestion of sunshine, tend to keep covered.
  21. snape anglo saxon cemetary?
  22. considering there is a Harrolds cross in Dublin (with that peculiar spelling of Harrold), are we talking crosses on the broads, Hardley cross down south is one I know, in particular are we looking for a high cross monument on the north side?
