    My Day

It wasn't just 'My Day' but 'My Extended Weekend' with a build up of several months. First it involved my youngest daughter Second it involved making a wedding cake - requiring a specific theme and a lot of sleepless nights! Then driving down to Faversham - collecting and collating family and friends on the way from many different parts of the country, not just Norfolk. (The Grooms family do come from Kent but it was the venue that was the key reason) We were so lucky with the weather despite it being very cold, it was sunny throughout and thankfully everyone got home by yesterday which also involved a trip to Norwich and to Horning so I could check on WR and getting back to Hertfordshire before the weather set in (no trains running from Ware to London so daughter 2 can't get to work!) So after an exhausting weekend, life is now back to normal for several months. I should add that the Shepherd Neame Old Brewery Store was a fantastic venue for a wedding if you would something a bit quirky and different. The whole event went very smoothly and everyone had an excellent time. The receipt for the bar tab was the height of my eldest daughter!! Also on the Friday afternoon we went on a Brewery Tour which was very interesting!! I must say that the boat covers on the old Thames Barges by the quay were quite impressive - more like a greenhouse cloche so that not only did it cover the boat but they could work underneath as well! Unfortunately it was low tide! Here are some photos of the weekend..........including the cake! Fruit; Red Velvet and Vanilla Sponge!
  2. Seen at Faversham Creek this weekend - this was all I could see! http://www.broads.org.uk/wiki/index.php5?title=Boat_Details&BoatId=5371&BoatHistory=47295
  3. I nearly commented that I thought Mrs Nog had got a hold of Mr Nog's phone today!! Welcome from Liz
  4. The food at the Swan is excellent but it is also more expensive than some places I would say?
  5. Some of the earlier Ripplecraft were varnished for awhile. My brother's 1934 Mayfly is still varnished. Some years ago some of WRs structure had some 'bodging' done which means returning to varnish would involve big structural money being spent. Good luck
  6. Now that reminds me back in 2016, Griff and Robin offered to take WR out and do one of Robin's classic blogs. I am sure that after all the 'recent fun' they might fancy a little old boat with no mod cons, no huge fuel bills, no room to swing a cat and no heating nor hot water. As long as they promise not to take her out to sea that is! No rush guys she's on a slipway at the moment!
  7. I wish I had stuck with my earlier calculation this morning based on WRs consumption = 8 litres for 30 river miles multiplying it by 4 because Indy is bigger x 325 nautical miles which I thought was about the distance came to 3160 litres! At least Robin won't have to fill up too much from now on!
  8. I think the partners of Indy's crew also deserve a big hug - because I imagine, if you think all those on this forum this weekend went through the mill with this trip, I suspect their weekend was even worse. Mrs Griff et al - you also all deserve a large drink and good nights sleep
  9. At ease I have to get on and stop watching a dot on computer screen! Back to work everyone!
  10. Don't ask just lets hope they let here through, traffic building up either side now
  11. I suspect somewhere in the depths of this thread, my question has been answered but does Indy need both bridges to open at low tide?
  12. Here's my late entry = 1580 litres! Liz
  13. Any updates for departure? Traffic flowing freely on Google maps over the bridges!
  14. Well WR uses about 8 litres (I think) to get from Horning to Beccles so ....... I will think about this in the morning!!! Might as well have a go if it isn't too late?
  15. You need a green line I assume across the bridge and red line either side? Got caught out by a green line across the Ware Viaduct during Storm Doris. It wasn't that the traffic was flowing freely, there wasn't any traffic, the viaduct was shut!
