  1. Here's one from Ware taken this morning. Still settled and cold. Daughter 3 went to France this weekend, luckily they chose to go via the tunnel!
  2. Us woodies know all about rot and more rot and when you think you have cured all the rot someone finds more. Thanks for sharing . Liz and WR!
  3. Pictures on FB show Reedham ferry earlier not operational and the New Inn at Horning the concrete under water. NN got stuck for awhile at Woods due to the fish Barrier being lifted!
  4. And mentioned in a review of the papers on radio 4 this morning in the Today programme! Possibly in the Times as well!!
  5. The best time to see/hear wildlife at night is to sail or be a guard ship on the Three River's race!!!
  6. Although the discussion is relating to permanent moorings I have to say that when on the south rivers I really do like the pontoon moorings. Knowing that you can go to sleep or leave the boat without worrying you might not have slackened the mooring lines sufficiently is really nice. It is such a contrast to cruising on the north rivers where the issue really doesn't exist. Liz
  7. The picture is doing the rounds on Twitter amongst some of the birding sites - the person that appears to have tweeted it reports birds etc around Breydon
  8. 24 hours late but Happy Birthday Vaughan! We watched the Albert go through Horning that day, I was so excited my photos didn't quite feature the boat - just the flag staff - I missed the rest! I saw the Albert only the other week come through Horning.
  9. I love both! Simples ☺
  10. I know someone who lives in north London who has bought a dash cam. He witnessed a black cab driver overtake him whilst he was stopped at a pedestrian crossing as someone was walking across........ he sent the footage to the police and they replied that they would be prosecuting the cab driver as a result.
  11. Welcome from someone else that has a wooden boat and doesn't live locally!!! Water Rail (Herbert Woods Delight VII) but usually referred to in posts as WR. WR is also going back in the shed again this winter - keeps needing to be made beautiful. Liz
  12. That thought did cross my mind when I saw it in the paper today!
  13. As seen in the newspapers today! https://gearjunkie.com/smithfly-shoal-floating-tent https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/floating-tents-b7j5jlmgv
  14. I should add that WR doesn't like doing stern on either - because her rudder sticks out beyond the stern (and I am no good at reversing and she don't have a bow thruster!)
  15. She was built by Herbert Woods specifically to go through Potter..........as were all their original wooden boats even the 42 foot ones!
  16. Picture of my boat! A recent one with the canopy up and an old one from 2012, pre doing up where we later went through Potter - as to how much room, that always depends on the bridge height but I won't take her through (or the Pilot) unless there is 6 ft 3 inches. The Pilot would probably go for less but they might not like to because of insurance!!!!
  17. Some while back someone on here did post the information - put a search maybe into the forum (I think it was this forum?) With my boat it isn't so much a height issue at Potter these days but the width of the old canopy when lowered Liz
  18. And one for me please - Liz (Thank you to everyone involved!)
  19. Photos in the morning - can I order a calendar please!!!
  20. Wow what a day, 2 photos in my first attempt, watching Bake Off and finding a Brown Hairstreak (butterfly) egg in Middlesex - not that will mean anything to anybody on here! And then there was Sunday and WRs minor TV role - so could be an interesting week ahead?
  21. Just re-watched it and WR does appear (slightly distantly) in several shots on the Ant in particular. We were looking near the beginning when Tim and Pru were drinking from willow pattern tea cups on the Swan lawn. My husband remarked that they look just like the ones on WR!!! Then again another shot on the Ant when Pru is holding the same design cup (so not supplied by the Swan), but the next shot shows a different mug. A short while after, Pru is talking in the galley and low and behold not only some willow pattern cups stacked neatly aside of the mug holder but there is my Hungry Caterpillar mug and another mug which for some reason I have acquired!!!! Both currently on my kitchen table having been through the dishwasher last night! (after stripping WR of anything that will go mouldy in the winter!). All good fun!
  22. Too late for the calendar :(
  23. I rather liked the old Broadsbeat (Police boat) photos - never seen any of those before! I assume they were all from the Broads?
  24. I need to watch it again - I was too busy trying to catch the few second glimpses of WR lurking in the background! WR was only used on days 1 and 2 - she had to stand down because the boat was needed for my daughter's wedding party on the Southern Comfort. So Winsome skippered by Spring Song took over. However, Winsome is seen passing Toad Cottage by absolute chance! They were filming for at least four/five days from morning to evening so what we saw last night was many hours condensed into forty minutes so I suspect many people filmed would have been left disappointed! Knowing the Broads so well, it is a shame that two programmes couldn't be made but the majority of people watching this would get bored if it was too long! I also thinking that because we know the Broads so well, we will be critical of the jumping around - for instances I know that the Museum of the Broads clip was after they left Lady Christina! Liz
