  1. I imagine it is more important to get through the bridge (or be ready to go through the bridge) than pick up Robin!
  2. I've just made myself a cup of coffee instead - well done to everyone concerned. Have a safe journey over Breydon!!!!!
  3. When coasters came through it would have been a 24 hour service at Reedham
  4. It was pure user error!!!! I had hit the condensed button accidently rather than embedded!!! Service back to normal
  5. Thanks all, I might have hit something by mistake so when I HAVE TIME, I will investigate. Like a lot of things, you do something with a swipe and you have no idea what you did! (Well at my age anyway!)
  6. Up to last Thursday, if I viewed 'unread content' on my mobile (Motorola G) it would should the first 2 lines of the first sentence. This would tell me if it was something I might find interesting or give me an idea how the topic was running. This is still possible on my computer but now on my phone all I get is the Topic listed and who has replied. The result is that I find looking at the Forum on my phone now a waste of time as I don't want to open every thread and I don't have the time either. I haven't downloaded the Forum App - would that make a difference? Was there an update that changed the viewing settings last week? Liz in frustration
  7. Did the other Broadland locks have these bars across or was it just a Waveney thing. What about the Suffolk navigations where other wherries would have travelled such as the Blyth or the non-wherry ones near Ipswich (names fail me). Were they in the earliest of photos of the navigation? A thought crossed my mind but then I revisited the photo and came to the conclusion I was wrong! Were they used by the crew to help pull the wherry into and out of the lock - probably not as the bars are too high when a wherry is fully loaded and the wherry would be too heavy anyway? Was the bar moveable for non sailing craft that might have been about in the last years of navigation? Were the Waveney locks an unique design or were there other waterways with the unusual sides? Just thoughts on a wet and miserable day when I have plenty of other things to do but threads with the word Wherries never ceases to get my interest - totally distracted!

    Horsey Mere

Oh yes I know where he is - he told me once that I sold him (when I worked in a Norwich Jewellers) his first engagement ring

Somewhere in the back of mind I remember a thread being discussed a few years ago on maybe an 'inactive' forum where a certain knowledgeable individual that doesn't contribute here, mentioned that the real Public Staithe was actually further towards the village. Not sure if anyone has any old maps to confirm this?
  10. You 'see' he doesn't drive so the understanding of the need for a spare pair in the car etc isn't appreciated. Tell him or if reading Robin to get a copy of his/your prescription and head off to Vision Express ASAP in the morning. Hopefully it's a straightforward prescription no prisms or stuff?
  11. I see on social media they have achieved a 5 star food hygiene rating
  12. Having seen posts recently about the HIGH tides I see on FB that Reedham Ferry is currently closed for low vehicles due to the extremely LOW tide!
  13. In the days of wooden boats such as WR (built by Herbert Woods), the boat was stripped of everything and underneath every item that could be moved including the wooden bottoms of cupboards, small sections of floorboard that was designed specifically to fit 'that' boat would be written the class of the boat and number. It must have been like a jigsaw puzzle putting everything back in the spring. Its bad enough now just getting the correct curtain wire in place for the correct window! Illustrated is the drawer from the front cabin which used to be the galley and the back of the mirror in the toilet.
  14. The postcard that I didn't buy as found on Ebay of B773!
  15. A happy holiday maker this time!
  16. Keep posting Delight pictures - never get tired of seeing WRs sister ships! B777 should be Delight XII, B73 was quite simple as shown on the picture clearly! Delight III - WR was Delight VII
  17. All the best for yesterday. Hope the celebrations continue today. Lx
  18. Ah right we were just returning to Horning after staying the night at How Hill where we watched the starling murmeration (on the calendar!). We might have been going a bit faster than you are supposed to although you can see there is minimal wash. Thank you again! Liz
  19. Thank you for posting, that was probably on our Southern Adventure, the fact that we had the canopy down must have meant it had stopped raining for a few minutes! Where was it taken?
  20. I wasn't quite sure about the relevance of the swans in the report but good to see they took the speeding seriously. I assume it was achieved because someone living in the flats took the photos.
  21. My brother sailed a Heron many years ago, my father a GP14. On a gravel pit called Kingsmead. The railway dissected the club (Sunnymeads station) from the more famous Wraysbury Lake SC. That was many moons ago before WR was bought. Previous to that the family sailed at Weybridge in Thames rater territory. Sorry total deviation from original thread....
  22. Good luck with your searches - I shan't even try to mention my costs of owning a very old wooden cruiser - never ending! But as I always say she is part of the Broads heritage and its for that reason, I keep her floating. Liz
  23. Mint not mince but I agree totally :(
