  1. RT has survived her second night afloat without issue. We still have this torrent along her keel each side but it is slowing a tad now. Elsewhere she continues to close seams in one area and open them further along as bits return to their intended size, just not all at the same time! As I went to check her around five ish I could hear an absolute torrent of water being pumped. Of course you fear the worst but it turned out the yacht next door and RT were pumping at the same time. With everything being so quiet and still the noise was amplified dramatically! I have had the absolute pleasure of watching owls in the dawn light though. Such a wonderful spectacle as they passed within just a few feet of the car and something I would never normally get the chance to see. Time to find a bacon roll methinks
  2. It's 1/4 to three and she's still.pumping away quite happily
  3. If she don't start behaving herself soon the whole bloody lot will be below the waterline!
  4. It lives! But as soon as one issue is solved another takes its place
  5. We are not worried. RT is behaving just as expected. There is always a waiting game when a wooden boat has been out of the water long term. At one point yesterday we were concerned and had five pumps running constantly. Right now it is one pump running and the second pump cutting in for about a minute and then stopping for seven minutes. That's pretty good in 24 hours.
  6. Night watchman not lacking confidence, accomodation lacking floorboards!
  7. So far she has filtered half the upper Thurne in under 24 hours. We do need the flow to lessen aft before we stick another three inches of hull underwater.
  8. No. Tudor is not ready for full.tanks yet Griff. Over the course of the night she has closed some seams and opened others. I don't want 1/4 ton of diesel sat midships just yet.
  9. Ah, the joys of wooden boat ownership....
  10. Ain't that the truth. Most of the planking is looking good now. Our areas if concern are based around the keel, hog, tube chock etc. These are all in good old rock hard english oak so will take a fair bit of time to swell up to size but apart from that she is doing really well having been out for over four years and baked bone dry in the last few months. The night watchman is currently snoring like a chain saw. I have a permanent marker pen poised but can't decide what to write on his forehead. ... any thoughts?
  11. Well she is still afloat and we have installed a night watchman. ..
  12. Gutted to miss it again. Friday's are all but impossible at the minute but we live in hope..... well near Aylesbury actually but you know what I mean.
  13. Thought the engine was going in not being taken out.
  14. This may be more down to lack of information than lack of moorings. There are many moorings available but finding them can be a problem especially if you are not local. If I needed to find some quayhead to rent I would start right here on the forum. The knowledge within usually comes through.
  15. Oops, someone beat me to it!
  16. Adding onions would also help disguise the odour, then I believe wrapping in bread.....
  17. The easiest forum quiz question I had was in a round entitled 'questions about the forums quizzers' or something similar. One question was 'Whats the name of JanetAnne's dog'? In my haste to not read the question properly I got it wrong
  18. Was an oscar winning performance Lulu and probably quite hard to do in the heat of competition!
  19. Please do. There is quite a thirst on this forum for piccys of the broads and especially the boats from times past.
  20. Highlight 5 and 6 are still going strong. I was 13 in 1976 and owned half a 2 berth launch with my brother. We spent the whole summer on the Broads aboard that little boat. It had the two berths a hob and a sink. Aft cockpit with a Stuart Turner twin on dynastart. We used to see how far we could get on whatever petrol we could scrounge out of dad's car and then, when it ran out we would drift back on the tide to Oulton Broad and scrounge some more. If we ever got a full gallon we could be gone a week!
  21. Nav lights not working is not part of the bss. Condition and security of wiring and fuses are. If it's fitted it needs to have been fitted safely and within bss regulations however, it don't need to work!
  22. There are pictures of Somerleyton bridge with these shorter rails laid alongside the normal rails ready for use. I bet Jenny Morgan has some?
