    The Broads

And yet, up to a point, they are believable sadly. We can guess where both reviewers were talking about without trying too hard. It's not by any means all like that but that won't be obvious to people reading reviews. I'm not sure there is any answer to the problem as sadly their experience represents today's society "enjoying themselves" Have the Broads been mis-sold as a destination for so long that there is no turning back. If people came because it was "camping in nature on the water" rather than a "luxury yacht in Monte Carlo" It would improve for us that love it but possibly destroy local businesses.
  2. I have to say that I do support the application of the forum tos in this case. The report by the bbc above is very unhelpful in that a perception by a shocked and grieving relative must be taken in the wider context and not published before all testimony and evidence is heard, considered and summed up by those in possession of as much information as can be garnered. We only have to imagine ourselves for a moment as one of those involved to understand the feelings and perceptions that inform their comments.
  3. There is one listed here - https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/blyburgate/nr34/beccles/?arriving=202304122300&leaving=202304130100 This is from a web search so I don't have personal knowledge of it's suitability but there's a phone number in the link to check details.
  4. Wow, luckily I've not seen anything like that! Clearly that is just spoiling things for everyone around them! Completely anti social 🙁
  5. Over refreshing can be a problem... I'm told 😁 Presumably those in serious need of refreshment will find it anyway and those decent folks who would simply like a glass of wine with their picnic will be the only ones to suffer - it was ever thus 🙁
  6. I was just looking at them (an ad popped up just as I was looking at sim contracts... go figure!) Good prices 👍
  7. Lebara is looking like the way to go so far, their sim only prices easily beat BT even after the Broadband discount. I'm intending to drop the landline and TV packages altogether, they are pretty much redundant for us as long as we still buy a TV licence we can get what we need. BT offered me a deal... for only £10 more a month I could have exactly what I have now with a more exciting description 🙄
  8. I know this has been discussed before but it's possible the answer changes over time. We currently use BT/EE for the complete home package but this month's bill is a joke and our contract is expiring soon. So while onboard a boat does anyone have a recommendation please for a different provider with reasonable signal access? Given, of course that it's going to be patchy. Thanks in advance
  9. That seems odd given that so much of the content across the internet is misinformation already.
  10. How tech (and medical) advances affect humans in ways including redundancy and ethics is all part of the fascination for me. Sounds like a book I should read, thank you for the recommendation 👍
  11. It may, alternatively, have the effect of specialist knowledge no longer being published on the internet, from which we'd all be the poorer. Presumably attribution is something that can be sorted in the software, let's hope so.
  12. It's interesting stuff though, despite errors we can all spot as real world residents, it has come up with a plan that is at least adaptable.... imagine asking Goggle the same question just a couple of years ago! Progress always starts somewhere, give it a few years and it will probably take into account the problems we have seen and book your reservations along the route for you!
  13. I have this feeling you're going to make a chain to scale link by link 😁 Seriously though, I'm enjoying the return of your updates... they still have the "wow" factor for me 👍

    My Day

    Happy Birthday Ian 🥃
  15. I enjoyed reading your update as I was just thinking about the model a day or two ago. Your attention to detail is as inspiring as ever 👍
  16. As an aside concerning air source heat pumps and cold weather (although it's not looking like the best solution here) they become less energy efficient as the temperature drops but still do an effective job, for example Norway has a very large uptake of the technology. We have survived 6 years on the North Sea coast without ever feeling cold or suffering a shortage of hot water 👍
  17. We have an air source heat pump. The main drawback that I've read about is that you really need a modern well insulated property and this is bourne out by our experience. Our house is 7 years old, the heat source pump was part of the design and it works very well... but the downstairs underfloor heating and upstairs radiator system do not get "hot" in comparison to the gas boiler system we had before we moved. Any significant heat loss through lack of insulation would be very noticable and expensive. We do have an seemingly endless supply of hot water though, lovely long showers etc. not a problem. Our group of houses is of 8 four bedroom detached houses, last week the first of our neighbours had to replace their heat source pump at circa £6k.
  18. I can't remember exactly where the water tap is I'm afraid. I used to moor in the private section so didn't need it!
  19. Yes and before that on the port side as you enter... See image A: village staithe/private mooring B: BA 24 hr mooring C Boatyard slipway, pump outs and fuel available D: Boatyard day boat mooring Sutton Staithe Boatyard 01692 581653
  20. The rectangular 'block' in the Sutton Staithe image is the private mooring area of Sutton Staithe Boatyard Brian, no entry to hire craft.
  21. Sincere condolences to Alans friends and relations, may he rest in peace.
  22. Governments (all of them, everywhere, not political) seem to have a basic "something will turn up" outlook to big problems. "Not enough electric generation and infrastructure? Science will come up with something" There is a surprising tendancy for this work.... until it doesn't!
