Fortunately we will have very little reason to need facemasks so I have held off buying as there were some very silly prices about.
Have now found some that are reusable/washable at a fair price so have ordered some for us both. I don't have a beard and I'm afraid that my wife, Gill will just have to shave hers off ๐

It seems the police are a bit concerned that pubs reopen on a Saturday and in all likelihood a warm day, in addition to all who use pubs sensibly and have missed them, all the Saturday night idiots will be out. A potential for some disruption, as they call it, sounds like an understatement to me!
I'll be giving it a few days however much I'm looking forward to a nice pint in a nice pub.
City bars will no doubt be the worst.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the Broads ๐

Welcome ๐
I think the 1st of August sounds ideal, the pubs and businesses will have ironed out the wrinkles in new working patterns and folks will be used to visitors again.
Locals and villagers only had a problem with those breaking lockdown during the worst of the crisis. You'll find the Norfolk welcome as warm as ever.
Have a great time! ๐บ

Ray,I know what you mean but, what would constitute neglect on a wild mooring?
Negligence in this situation would constitute knowing there was a danger and not fixing it. However stating clearly that the land is privately owned and mooring is not allowed would, I believe, mitigate this to the point that any action is likely to be unsuccessful.
Hence the signs I guess!
In an ideal, non litigiousness world it would be enough to do nothing and let wild moorers do so at their own risk. Sadly it is not an ideal non litigiousness world!

I honestly don't know what the law is on this. If a boater is on a wild mooring and has an accident, can the land owner be sued?
My understanding (could have changed since my working days) is that liability rests with negligence (in some form). You have to be able to show negligence to successfully sue.

I worked in various service roles over 30 odd years, I'm afraid this is not a new thing Steve.ย

What's wrong with the Guardian? Apart of course that many here would prefer the Mail !
I was cautious of seeming to be partisan and less than transparent. Apparently these things can happen at times ๐

It's odd isn't it, I wonder what the first time hirer is expecting from their holiday! When we booked our first Broads Cruiser holiday I couldn't get my hands on enough information and devoured every book and instruction I could lay my hands on! The double holiday, as it seemed to me, was the nature and beauty on one hand and helming a boat for the first time on the other.
Of course I caught the whole Broads and boat"bug" from day one! ๐

Cruise ships perhaps? I donโt recall anything being said about them today.ย
Ah yes, that makes sense ๐

Just now, ChrisB said:
Until they get two or three pints onboard and all the mitigation measures will go out of the window.
You think it'll take that long Chris โบ As they walk in the door it will go out the window, now there's a tortuous phrase ๐

This quote from today's proceedings (https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/jun/23/uk-coronavirus-live-latest-news-updates-pubs-restaurants-cinemas-and-museums)
is interesting, I wonder what point was intended to be made? Any ideas?
""Robert Goodwill, a Conservative, asks for an assurance that the pleasure cruiser sector will have to comply with guidelines that will be uniformly enforced across the country.
Johnsonย agrees with the need for this.""

(Yes it's the Guardian but it's only a quote, not an opinion ๐)

Should be OK then, I can't imagine anyone not employing the mitigations.....

Yep good luck to all the businesses, hoping for a bumper rest of the season.
Also on the night of the 4th July let's have lots of patience for the poor staff coping with a whole new way if working and lots of eager customers! I wouldn't trade places for all the tea in China! ๐บ

That's OK until you get 'stuck in a rut' and find yourself in the bathroom when you was heading for the kitchen ๐

I don't think there could be a much better way to clear the lockdown cobwebs away... Perfect!

Logistics... that's always the problem with a jet set lifestyle ๐๐๐
Sounds like you have a cracking few weeks to enjoy whichever way you look at it though! ๐บ๐บ

If you could get those 3 days off you could have a nice seaside B&B break between the 2 boat holidays!

I agree but luckily I think these sort of proposals are all about saying the right thing in the full knowledge that largely the majority of the public are quite happy to just use common sense and aren't signed up to a culture of fear at all ๐บ๐บ

Crazy times! People must know what to expect, why do they do it? It can't be any kind of fun or relaxation. I literally don't underside the desire to join thousands of other people however nice the beach is whether or not the virus is over (not) it must be hell.
