  1. Many Congratulations de GW4RXO Peter.
  2. Not Breydon so much but I had a nasty moment at the Dolfin at Yarmouth once. ( I must have miscalculated the tide) going toward Breydon on a Hampton Safari 25 we stopped dead just like we'd run aground then began to turn around like a slow whirlpool I managed to get out of the "Spin" by using full throttle but only just and soon was in calm water. with a big sigh of relief! I have remained very respectful of the tide conditions there ever since.
  3. What's up with the Car Manufacturers Bulb changing should be easy as it's a consumable part. Cars of yesterday one or two screws to undo and it was done, We have gone backward as the Bulb is most likely to fail on a cold wet night and you want to spend the least time replacing it as possible! I had a company Vauxhall once that you had to take out the Battery to replace the headlamp bulb Crazy!!
  4. What put me off Amazon was getting enrolled in the "Prime" thing by stealth I really didn't remember ticking anything! only knew when the fee money appeared on my bank statement in fairness to them one phone call and I got my money back. And as for waste what about Barclaycard they send me a letter at least every month about transferring all my credit cards to them. Why don't they pop it in my Barclaycard bill or e-mail it .been going on for years now, a whole rainforest worth! BTW I only have ONE credit card anyway!
  5. Thanks for the tips everyone I'll make notes in my Broads book for next time Some very decent folk on here I must say. You wouldn't believe how disappointed I was when I went to turn into the Cafe Carpark to be met with a wall of concrete blocks! And to cap it all we eventually picked up Sandwiches in the motorway services which were awful and I think gave my Wife food poisoning, not a nice trip back.
  6. Disappointed to find the transport cafe "The World Famous Comfort Cafe" (Cambridgeshire) closed down on route back from a week on the Broads. Apparently been closed about a year it was really handy for us when traveling back and forth now there only seems to be Fast Food or expensive places. The good old transport places are really rare!
  7. Seasickness has to be one of the worse sensations you just pray for deliverance!
  8. When my Daughter was little on a rough ferry crossing with her school she was the only one able to stand I put this down to our regular Broads holidays even before she was born!
  9. Now that's my problem not enough time on the water! sounds a good cure to me !! Peter,
  10. Faced the Cold and the wind even the rain and the huge waves but could not walk to the New Inn Rockland from the Staithe without falling headfirst into the road! bruising and grazing myself all over and spitting out a tooth Thank you to the people at the Pub who helped me up. I had a good time despite the accident but now must face the Dentist! Has anyone else felt unsteady on land after being a few days on the water? BTW no alcohol had passed my lips before the tumble!
  11. For goodness sake Norwich easy on us Swansea City Friday night our owners sold us out to American so-called investors who have sold the first team and left us with the reserves and under 23s at least Norwich have a reputation as an attacking team and deserve to be doing well If it's too bad a result I'll be incognito when I arrive in Norwich Saturday to start my week on the Broads!
  12. I forgot I'd used it at Norwich once! never again, you live and learn no damage done but a nicely plowed riverbed I bet!
  13. I know I'm getting on but the last couple of times I've used a Mud weight I had the devil of a job retrieving it afterward I've been advised to lower it gently so it doesn't sink too far in the mud, Ill try that next time!
  14. Ok, where are the Moles there ought to be Moles!
  15. Hey, leave the Welsh alone! It's funny how home countries folks have the rise taken out of them Norfolk included ,but try it when the recipient is a West Indian or a Pakistani or other and everyone is up in arms, same with religion you can say what you like if it's directed at a Christian not so easy to mickey take some others! Who wrote all these rules anyway?

    Rats

I know I'm stupid I hate having to kill anything living. Rats are fascinating creatures that are in the wrong place they are good parents and nurse injured members of their family etc, but they are really nasty when caged I won't tell you what one of them said to me! I know it's a case of them or the health of my family but I still hate doing it (Should have been a Buddist or something!).

    Rats

Not a boat but we discovered the kitchen waste pipe eaten through in the cavity wall only found out when we wondered where the wastewater was going when it didn't appear outside I've put big traps down and a man came with bait boxes but they are craftier than that. Thinking of getting a couple of Jack Russells dogs as our Labrador is a bit slow and soft. And I thought life would be easy moving to the countryside! BTW you can get an Aerosol to spray on cables but don't breathe it in for goodness sake!
  18. Alan, was Bayco the one with little steel rods you could your stab yourself? Would never be allowed now! I had one loved it the plastic bricks slid in between the rods.which were slotted into a baseboard.
  19. Yes I think I've been there twice it was sometime in the 80ties on White Dolphin from Hippersons went in at the beginning of the week and the landlord gave us a long spiel about special ale that he was trying out only for customers he liked etc, We went again the night before we had to return the boat and yes the same spiel to the letter. I can't remember if the pub had its own mooring or did we moor near that old concrete bridge and walk? Memories ahhh
  20. Hi. I was not expecting the Pub to be open it would be interesting as the last time I went there 1972 it was lit by candlelight and a little voice came out of the darkness "We only have bottled Beer you sit down and I'll get it" someone later told me I'd met the Ghost of Susan! was the live Susan still around in the 1970ties?
  21. Hi, I'm hiring a boat for the week beginning the 9th of March on the Southern Rivers and would really like to go down to Geldeston Lock. I've checked for low tides at Beccles old bridge and with an Air Draft of 6.ft 9, I think I should be fine, but I notice clearance listed refers to the Summertime tides what are the chances of maybe getting under and not being able to get back? Does anyone know the highest low water expected at that time approximately? Anyone ever been stuck the other side of a bridge? only happened to me the once at Thorpe but only had to wait for a few hours thankfully. Sorry if this should have been posted in the Bridges section.
  22. I thank you! anyone for March, June, August, October, November
  23. I thought someone would be able to rattle off all the locations, perhaps the next Calender could have a little note on each picture as to the location.
  24. And something with a huge eye keeps popping up they've landed I think!
  25. Ah yes, I remember many years ago losing my clutch on that roundabout and being taken back to Swansea on the breakdown truck with my poor dog still sitting in the back of the car. The driver didn't stop once and when we got there turned right around and headed back to Norwich wouldn't even have a cup of tea! Tough men these Norfolk fellas.
