  1. The existing bridge is only 9' at normal high tide and that's not too often in fact it's usually less and has been as little as 7'6"" on occasions and I'm not just talking about in winter either , its be not uncommon to find taller hire Craft either stuck in Norwich or not being able to access the authorities YS , besides building it higher must mean lifting the line so even more expensive .
  2. Spot on with the location of the deal ground Vaughan, there has been quite a lot of clearing of one area by the river where the sunken vessel was removed from last week for crane access etc and I'm fairly sure this is where vagabond will be moored , works wise I'm presuming it involves the removing of the conservatory type structure on the vessel to reduce the air draft and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's heading to the yard just up bure where there's already one genuine continental barge . Does seem strange that all of a sudden a vessel that's been sunk for over 2 yrs is removed as was another by carrow bridge and then immediately after vagabond is moving . As for the rail bridge replacement I haven't a clue but suspect all this is down to that happening . If I had an oversized vessel in such as brundall I'd be keeping a very careful eye on things and seriously considering my options .
  3. Not just the boating public but the Marina's, the business's , brokers etc etc etc , it's pretty easy to make a boat with bits and bobs like radar Arch's that lower but cabins on anything sea going have to be strong hence fixed structures , there certainly isn't the capacity in Marina's below readham for all the vessels that would be affected so I'd expect a lot of boats to be sold on causing a big surplus of boats flooding the market has a definite effect on resale values which would affect anyone with a similar vessel no matter where they are even in other areas , why by a boat that's the real market price on the Thames when you can get a cheaper one in Norfolk . It certainly isn't just about the boats it has much deeper implications for Norfolk , you'd expect the authority to stand tall against such a plan , but unfortunately they haven't got a good track record in that department . Not too long ago so component came up to cantly by river , there's no way that could have come in by road hence the use of the river , shut off reedham n that that gone , the only way then is build it on site in kit from a very expensive option . Ba might think it's possibly a good idea , right up the time they realize the loss in tolls , some would stay as some boats hardly get use to their designed purpose . All in all if it happens it's definitely not going to be good .
  4. Yes but surely the right to navigation has to be changed via a change to the act of parliament for there to be a fixed structure at trowse , I've asked this question elsewhere in the past " just exactly how much time is lost in slowing down to cross the existing bridge " bearing in mind it's quite near the station I would expect train's to be going slower anyway , obviously if the doubling of the track required a movable bridge as it currently has to be then there's an increase in cost but it also costs to change the law which may fail , after all a lot of people expected Heathrow to get the third runway . Either way it could very easily be the thin end of the wedge .
  5. Personally I really hope it all goes well because if it sinks in that area it's really going to be one heck of a problem , there has been quite a bit of work taking place on the deal ground and I would presume that includes putting in some form of mooring fixings as there are no posts or bollards in that area , also it's not particularly deep so depending on vagabonds draft it could well sit on the bottom , not good with a 70 iron Hill that could be quite thin now . Still they know what they are doing or at least I hope so . I'm wondering why the sudden Rush to remove it all of a sudden ?? it's not like it hasn't dragged on for yrs already . I think it's time I put on my optimistic hat , but then again I want it no where near my boat so I'll be definitely well out of the way on the 8th March .
  6. Yes definitely bar only in the Duke at somerlayton .
  7. There are many more on the upper yare etc , surlingham ferry , the ram the yare , coldham hall all in brundall , the new inn Rockland , the ship and I believe also the Nelson in reedham , the Duke's head somerlayton to name but a few
  8. You've no need to worry about swan royal as apparently it's now sold

    Survey No1

And yet to survey the lower bure while out of season and little river traffic seems the logical thing to do , does anyone know the last time it was surveyed ???

    Survey No1

Leave it alone , not that it could be made higher anyway it's listed .
  11. Good luck with that , I could get under before and now ( though maybe not at the moment , but under normal conditions it's do able ) I take it that if I can currently get under I have to pay more ??
  12. If you'd used Duel Lock you would have probably removed the bulkhead before the RCD , it's a seriously strong hook and loop fastening system , the reason for stating only use in tabs is the fact 1 square inch of the stuff has been tested to hold a 1kg static load for 10,000 hrs , the other obvious reason is it's pretty expense .
  13. Careful with the extra strong velcro and it's alternatives such as the product by 3M which I think is duel lock , it's seriously hard to seperate especially if used in a continuous length , while the manufacturers adhesive is strong it's always good to back it up with a high strength impact adhesive .
  14. As far as the sunken vessels it is but for those going into the city tomorrow it's not and I happen to be one of them , it's noted that the recovery of the motorcycle that's only 70/80 feet from one if these vessels isn't mentioned , I would expect that to be lifted at the same time given that BA know about it .
  15. That post by myself wasn't outlined at you JM but since it appears been removed by a mod I could be seen as a general observation now when it most certainly wasn't as it was addressed to one person ( not yourself ) .
  16. Very well so be it , that said in England we use English as a first language so Fred is quite right , that said if you prefer to drift off into another language then feel free as most Will as you stated ignore it .
  17. So why are you reading it then ??. Incidentally some of the recently discussed information hadn't happened 6 weeks ago .
  18. At a Guess a series of questions regarding personal information in an atempt to hack your identity , I had this around 7-8 months ago though I wasn't invited to press one the scam has the same detail . They were in that instance after bank account numbers , UTR number , national insurance number etc etc etc none of which they got , interestingly the number they called from was actually an HMRC phone number ! Read into that what you will .
  19. If certain people are bored there's an answer don't read the thread it's literally that easy . I'll guarantee this thread is closely watched by the mod team who haven't intervened , so as much as it's a bit like a tennis match it can't be classed as outside of the rules , in all cases of 2 party's not agreeing there will be text etc such as on this thread that's human nature . If people don't want to view it then don't look at it it's really that easy .
  20. I don't understand why others can't have their say on what it's a serious subject . Dozens of time theads get completely hijacked by a certain few individuals but no one complains about that . Thing is that could just as easily turn people off .
  21. And yet until I posted that you said nothing
  22. All I can say is judging by the fact no one has said so then I doubt it .
  23. Good then your not bored then
  24. That depends on if they are interested in the future of the Broads and surrounding areas . Note not one person has stated they are bored , so therefore I must conclude 0/10 .
  25. Red flag no 1 , only one arrest warrant would be issued . Red flag no 2, arrest warrants are not issued by HMRC but by a court . Red flag no 3 , HMRC are highly unlikely to know about any warrant and certainly have no jurisdiction in it's enforcement .
