  1. With Karizma being our first boat (my parents had one about 15 years ago) and keen to understand what everything is and what everything does, anybody help me out with this? I'm use to seeing a grease nipple on the top on the stern tube (if that's what you call it) that needs regular greasing, but this has a copper pipe that goes to the raw water cooling system near the engines exhaust elbow. I assume cold water is 'forced?' down the copper pipe to cool the stern tube? Do I need to check / doing anything with this on a regular basis? PS: you can tell I'm getting ready to go down and check her out later this week Steve IMG_7991.HEIC
  2. Hi all, I've read on here that some use (if not swear by) ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment in their engines, gearboxes, and anywhere else there's metal to metal contact. I've purchased some to put in my Nanni Diesel (4.190HE) for the first time, but as anybody put it in a Newage PRM 160 gearbox? I contacted the manufacturer of the gearbox directly and they didn't recommend I add it. Anybody got any specific experience with a PRM 160? Steve
  3. Must have been a great relief - congratulations I'll be looking forward to similar result on Saturday ........ hopefully.
  4. Day trips for us over the Easter break to get things checked out and then overnight from the 12th ............ can't wait.
  5. Local live music is always a great addition (as well as a good selection of real ales). Use to love mooring up at Reedham ferry back in the day to listen to Jon Collorick. Will definitely pay you a visit when things get 'back to normal'.
  6. Crikey, and I thought owning my own boat was going to be hard enough - reading this thread with interest ...... I have so much to learn and understand as a 'newbie!
  7. guess if you are fishing from your boat then you'd be ok unless there are: 1) signs clearly showing the additional annual ticket is required to fish there, and 2) somebody comes round collecting the fee or 3) ignorance is bliss and you could act
  8. that's not a silly question I was just about to ask the same thing! I'm thinking the answer is No .......?
  9. Yes top driver. Remember first seeing her trying to drive a transit round the Nurburgring in under ten minutes (can't remember if she did it or not), and used 'gaffer tape' to try to make it more aerodynamic. Now there's an idea for a boat mod!
  10. We took a look at Lovejoy when we were looking for our first boat in October 2020, she's a lovely looking boat, full of character. Be great to see her again on the river when we are cruising around.
  11. arrived in double quick time - thanks Mike (#Chameleon). Now just need to get it on board!
  12. thanks Griff - can't even remember what type I have on her its been that long!
  13. Hi Mouldy, very glad you had a house move to think about! Will look out for Norfolk Lady on our travels.
  14. thanks for the photo CambridgeCabby..... just looked this one up - its Chablis 2, ours has the Reg No K517 which I think must have been Chablis (1). Anybody know how many Chablis were in the fleet?
  15. Hi all, I've been following this forum for a couple of months now after watching some YouTube videos posted by "The Captains Blog' !!! so thought I'd say hello as a new member. With all travel abroad disrupted last year we decided to return to the Norfolk Broads (my parents use to own a boat on the Broads many years ago) and hire a craft for our summer holiday. Well it didn't take us long to decide that we had 'the boating bug' again and so in Aug 2020 started looking round for our own boat. Fast forward to Dec 2020 and we'd 'signed on the dotted line' and purchased a Sheerline 1070 that was, at that point moored on the River Thames. So we quickly arranged transportation (in-between lockdowns) and got her moved onto the Southern Broads (well that where she was the last time we saw her!!!!). After doing a little research on our purchase it turned out that our boat was built by R. & J. Russell in South Walsham and started life in 1994 as a hire craft named 'Chablis', from South Wroxham for Russell Marine Ltd. She remained a hire craft between 1994 and December 2000 where she then transferred into private ownership. Our research shows that she remained on the Norfolk Broads until a change of ownership in October 2013 which saw her transferred to the River Thames in Oxford where the new owners renamed her 'Karizma'. She remained on the River Thames until we purchased her in December 2020, and whilst we decided to keep her 'new' name, we brought her back to the Norfolk Broads. If anybody has any history on this, or any other boats from the same fleet then it would be great to hear the stories ...... Hope to see some of you on the river in 2021 ......... when we are allowed. Steve & Tracy
