  1. glad you didn't - we are really enjoying 'looking after her' at the moment & so glad we brought her back to the broads.
  2. Hope it settles down some time soon or we'll all be paying 'over the odds' ...... though I won't hold my breath for it ever coming back down.
  3. We were one of those private craft that had just left Somerleyton (after a lovely overnight stay) and finally got to wave to a boat (and it's owners ) that I recognised from reading posts on NBN. Though I'm not able to yet put forum names to boat names, so had to log on this even to find out it was Mouldy
  4. Dont tell everyone Mouldy - or there'll be none left for when I get back
  5. The uk body thats helping define the rules for drones is the British Model Flying Association (BMFA), you can google their website for more info. If you join as a member you also get comprehensive insurance cover. I'm a member to allow me to fly in F3A model aircraft aerobatic competitions.
  6. nice line up, equally spaced - we hope to be there this weekend (fingers crossed).
  7. Just passing WRC after a few days on the River Yare..........
  8. Thanks for the heads up - went through today on route from Beccels to Waters edge on the Yare and you could see they were getting ready with the equipment just south of St Olaves Marina.
  9. oh ok - good to be organised well before the holiday.
  10. Great week planned - hope the weather is kind for you. We will hopefully be down next weekend, so might see you on the river ..... or in The Wherry
  11. We've just had 4 days on the southern rivers .... it was lovely to see a few more boats starting to get out and about.
  12. A little update for those that might be interested....... Been out on the river this weekend and moored up at both Loddon and Somerleyton and used the BA shore power whilst there. Decided to check the voltage with the meter and got Zero Neutral to Earth value so looks as though there's definitely no issues with the boat

    Beccles

If you can get under Beccles bridge then there's free moorings just outside Rowan craft boat yard (but don't tell everyone!) and a lovey pub; The Wherry Inn, in Geldeston village for drinks / food - highly recommended.
  14. Hi John, from what I've worked out at the moment, the boat has a galvanic isolator and it looks as though all the 240v earth cables have been connected correctly to the Shore GRD (rather than the boat ground), so for now I'm assuming all is good. More investigation required as I'm now just curious (rather than concerned).
  15. thanks for all the replies so far, sounds as though I dont have anything to worry about but I will still do a few 'checks' to see if I can eliminate / understand what makes it happen. thanks again for the reassurance thats things are ok.
  16. Evening all, to all you marine electrical 'experts' out there I wonder if you can help with this ..... I've been reading a lot about potential reverse polarity issues when connecting to shore power so thought i'd get myself a little gadget to test my 240 volt circuit on Karizma. Before I came down to the boat I tried testing my home circuit and all was good two red lights, ?Ma sorry cant remember what it read (RCD on the meter), 240V (L-N on the meter) and zero (N-E on the meter). Plugged it into the boat (whilst connected to shore power in my home boat yard) and got: 36mA (RCD), 234V (L-N on meter), and 03V (N-E on the meter) - this fluctuated between 3 and 6 volts. So I'm assuming I shouldn't really be seeing 3-6 volts on the Neutral to Earth? - can anybody give me a clue what to go looking for? thanks,
  17. some hours at the helm for a trip 'up north' and 'back south' over a long weekend - well done
  18. safe travels - looks like its going to be a cold weekend
  19. or a Sheerline 1030, which is exactly the same layout as CC's ...... just a little longer. And we are delighted with her.
  20. Tom got back to me really quickly (so thanks for the tip RSF ) and in Tom's own words said: "Parts for the HL18 are now obsolete, however we do still have a couple of items remaining in stock. 1 x HL18 Burner fleece - £38.29 + VAT 1 x Gasket Set - £37.39 + VAT 1 x Flame Sensor - £73.03 + VAT Once they are gone, that is that!" So on the basis that if I bought all the above (which I would need, as I also damaged the flame sensor getting it out!) I still wouldn't know if the unit will work, so I've decided to go with a replacement. On the plus side, I now have some spare parts for a Webasto HL18 D heater that might end up on fleebay to fund a new one
  21. just out of interest - do you leave it on all night?
  22. I did see these; about half the price of a Eberspacher / Webasto, and a uk distributor which is a bonus - certainly my next preferred option especially now I know some on here are endorsing them
  23. this is what i want, and I saw this but they don't have any in stock. I did send them a message a couple of weeks ago, but no reply ...........
