  1. The Aweigh app works down under as well 😂 0854 hrs Sat morning and moored up at Lyttelton near Christchurch! Chris and Brenda
  2. It’s 0630 hrs on Friday 9th and we’ve just arrived in Port Chalmers (Dunedin) for the day. Looks like a lot of timber gets shipped out from here! We have booked an excursion to see Olveston House and Larnach Castle today and view the Scottish influence here. Chris and Brenda
  3. It’s 0945 hrs on Thursday 8th Feb here and after having had two days at sea cruising from Sydney down to the south west coast of South Island NZ, we have just left Milford Sound at the Fiordland National Park. Next stop will be Thompson Sound around about midday. Last night was a formal night on board and the Captain gave a bit of a speech. We found out last night that the Captain, Steve Holland, comes from Wroxham!!! How spooky 😀 Chris and Brenda Milford Sound
  4. It’s 1256 pm and just got back to the ship after enjoying a “Hop on, Hop off” bus tour around Sydney which lasted 2 1/2 hours! Sydney harbour bridge just behind us! Sail tonight for another two days at sea before reaching the South Island of New Zealand and more shore excursions! (Oh and it’s a sweltering 33 degrees here!)
  5. Our “home” for the next two weeks (taken 4 days ago prior to boarding in Auckland). Chris and Brenda
  6. Phew! Now on board the Royal Princess having endured a total of 23 hours flying time!! 13 hrs from Heathrow to Hong Kong and 10 hrs from Hong Kong to Auckland! Cases still to be delivered to our cabin but we’ve had a quick freshen up in there and now having a G&T in the atrium 😀 Chris and Brenda
  7. Currently sitting in the Premier Plaza lounge in T5 at Heathrow having a beer/wine and something to eat Hold baggage gone (won’t see that again until we land in Auckland on 1st Feb!). Chris and Brenda
  8. Well, the day has finally arrived. We took Luna (our GSD) to her favourite kennels yesterday (they do make a fuss of her there!) and came back to start packing our suitcases and preparing the house for our 14 days away cruising around New Zealand onboard Royal Princess. This will be my first cruise on a cruise ship although Brenda already has a couple under her belt, having gone away previously with her brother and his wife etc. We fly from Heathrow tonight (British Airways) and land in Hong Kong some 12 hours later, then it's a 3 hour wait until we board an Air New Zealand flight to Auckland which will take another 11 hours approx! Due to the time difference between here and New Zealand, we actually arrive there at 0930 hrs on 1st Feb! Once on board the ship and in our cabin (deluxe balcony cabin on the starboard side), it'll be a case of unpacking, getting a bite to eat and then joining in the "sail away" event when we depart in the evening. We have free wifi on the ship so I will try and post on here at some point during our cruise. Chris and Brenda
  9. Good job they didn't call the group Save Happisburgh In Total - imagine being asked "what action group do you belong to" - to which the reply would be "I'm in the **** (as its a family forum I won't use the abbreviation). All the same I wish the group the best of luck. Chris
  10. Very sad news to read of Ian's passing. RIP Ian, your family can be proud of what you have achieved during your lifetime, we never met Ian or any of his family but his posts on here were a pleasure to read. Condolences to the family. Chris and Brenda
  11. Also, remember to place the mudweight gently back in it's rightful place - don't put it down on the deck suddenly - you'll end up with a copious amount of Norfolk Broads finest mud all over you if you haven't washed it all off beforehand! Been there, done that as the saying goes Chris
  12. Gracie, It's one of the many catch phrases from Dads Army, that was a great BBC comedy series back in the 70's. Capt Mainwaring (pronounced "Mannering") was one of the characters and whenever he said something a bit quirky/double entendre, another character (Lcpl Jones) would come out with "oo-er Mr Mannering and other catch phrases like "Don't Panic!" Chris
  13. As a regular hirer with HW, we no longer have a trial run, whether it be on a 35' or 44' boat (which are the two sizes we hire depending whether we are on our own or with friends or family). We know most of the guys who are involved with the instruction side of the handover and they know I have enough experience in handling their craft . When approached by a ranger to do their survey, I always reply to the question regarding handover/trial run with a positive yes - HW have every faith in me helming one of their boats so I won't give the BA/ rangers any reason to judge them! Totally agree with first time or infrequent hirers having a trial run (we had ours with HW the first and second time we hired with them). Chris
  14. Didn't think they had a generator Malcolm? HW guy didn't mention it when we had a quick look around Platinum Light 1 last year to see what it was like inside. Chris
  15. Found this on the You Tube channel this morning and although not Broads related, I would love to see this cruising on the southern Broads! Chris
  16. This must be the one that I referred to in my post on 15th Nov? Very similar layout to the Platinum Light that we have booked for end of Sep next year and it's not the hybrid version either. Chris
  17. Their website is no longer available either Chris
  18. Minus 0.3 here on the outskirts of Rugby but the sun is starting to break through the early morning fog that we have had! Chris
  19. Well, now I'm a little bewildered!! Just tried to access that link through this forums app on my smartphone and it worked!! I'm guessing that I've got something on this PC that I need to tweak oh well 0nwards and upwards ha ha Chris
  20. Hmmm, I'm using Chrome too but I have the Kaspersky AV, which like Norton tends to throw up the "untrustworthy site" warnings. However, even telling Kaspersky to continue etc, I still get that darn error code . Chris
  21. That link is not working for me? I've even tried to open up the shorebase.co.uk website link and that still throws up the Error code 404 Chris
  22. It does beg the question, why is it sitting there all by itself? Has it just been delivered from elsewhere? Chris
  23. Griff, so very sad to read about what is happening at this present time. As is with everyone else here on the forum, our thoughts and wishes for a positive outcome are with you and your family. Chris and Brenda
