  1. Lovely picture of Cantley. I need my own boat. This lovely weather is driving me mad.
  2. I used to say that to my missus. It's a boat and comes with some compromises. It's about making the best of what you've got. And modern boats are hardly roughing it. As kids in the early 70s I remember the boats not having much at all. A game of cards was good enough.
  3. Great story. It doesn't always work out. I tracked an old friend who I hadn't seen for 35 yrs. It was a weird experience meeting him. I won't go into details but I probably won't see him again.
  4. Great pictures. Enjoy it you lucky people. Nice boat as well.
  5. The diesel heater is an interesting take on the noise issue. I remember being at Ranworth and the boat moored next to me had the diesel heater on most of the evening. It was very noisy but people need to keep warm I suppose.
  6. There is nothing worse than an engine droning away till the later hours. 8pm is more than late enough. Poor planning in some cases and complete inconsideration in most.
  7. Thanks for posting the updates and pics. These tails seem to keep me going when we aren't there. Very misty this morning by the photo.
  8. I'm following this with great interest. I love Upton dyke as a moorings. I am very envious of you all who are enjoying this weather on the broads.
  9. I've just said to the wife what a great week to be on the broads. Its what I miss about owning a boat. Just dropping everything and away we go. Mind you, being retired completely means we can enjoy the sun in the garden (too nice to be at work).
  10. You are in for some nice weather over the next few days.
  11. That concrete staithe at Reedham always put me off mooring there when I had my own boat. Good job by the warden.
  12. It is an Exige Bluebell. It's the lowest powered one Lotus made in this shape but still very quick. Too quick really. They are not easy to get in and out of which is the big difficulty for some people. Especially when the roof is on. But there is a knack to it.
  13. That is the one. They have been fairly bulletproof since 2004 when they changed to Toyota engines. Not really much else to go wrong. The build quality leaves a bit to be desired mind. I love them.
  14. I had a 2.0 S Capri which was very tail happy. I loved it. They were brilliant GT cars but poor around corners. It was before front wheel drive took over as the main form of propulsion. But never never Crapi. My toy car is a Norfolk built sports car that some of you may have heard of. Now owned by the Chinese, unfortunately.
  15. Thanks Griff, Interesting car. 2 litre Pinto engine is what my mk3 Cortina had in it. It'll be nippy with that engine. Good fun car.
  16. Can you post a picture of the Dutton. I am a car enthusiast and interested to see it.
  17. Just forget it. If he got out of his car and challenged you about it you can put him in his place.
  18. It is a lovely moorings. Ideal for a stopover before or after crossing Breydon water. I've often thought that there is a lot going on with the animals, shop, cafe, windpump etc. However all of these things add to the charm of the moorings and it would be ashame to see them go.
  19. We've been waiting for the A64 to be a dual carriageway between Scarborough and York for the last 40 years. I can't see the Acle straight being dualed in my lifetime. As locals to an area it matters, so we think our hopes are high on someone's agenda. They usually aren't.
  20. I haven't done the maths and I'm just throwing this out with not a lot of thought, but with such a large stretch of mooring, could they not offer permanent moorings for a number of boats as a way of generating revenue. Parking might be an issue for boat owners and some further investment will be needed but if the moorings aren't being used it might be a solution.
  21. I'm going to struggle with the 200 mile journey to Norfolk on a horse. I'll need another for the wife and two donkeys for the dog and our luggage. And I don't have stables at home.
  22. I've noticed that NBS are advertising new Viking 300s and 275s with electric propulsion. I think the advert states that there is 9 hours usage between charges which is the equivalent to a 25hp outboard. I think net zero is unachievable and a load of rubbish.
  23. Well done Dom. You will enjoy doing the DIY on your new boat. Out of curiosity did you look at Sweet Kingfisher at NYA Brundall.
  24. Enjoy your holiday. Post plenty of pics as it's of great interest to me.
  25. Each of us have different experiences in life and quite right too. I've been very lucky in that I had a loving and carefree childhood. It was a brilliant time when I think back. I don't feel I've missed out on anything in my 60 yrs. I have been very fortunate and I genuinely appreciate it.
