  1. I have reported this to the Broads Authority
  2. Sounds to me like the perfect start to the bank holiday! Have a lovely weekend.
  3. As my dear old mother would say.......you will sleep tonight!
  4. We still do Chris, land shoes, deck shoes and always slippers when inside......despite my modern waistline! New limestone/granite aggregate paths are a pain mind, although they do settle after a bit of weather and wear. I remember Ranworth being "improved" some years ago......same issue back then!
  5. Totally agree with M and P.......good grub at the Bridge....have a gooden.....be patient crossing the road, particularly on the way back!
  6. Thank you socrates, very helpful and reassuring. Very best wishes.
  7. Thank you Paladin for the link, and plenty food for thought. It was particularly interesting to hear the views of Richardsons and the MP. Yesterday I read in full the January navigation committee minutes, equally interesting! Have a look on the BA website if you haven't already? I appreciate that minutes don't always reflect everything that has been discussed but for the purpose of governance, once agreed they represent the record of a meeting. Some notable worthies of this forum will, I am sure, have personal knowledge/experience of several of the players on all sides. I don't so my observations may well reflect that? It will be interesting to see where we end up. Just one unfortunate inclusion was the use of a boat hook to "fend off" at the end of the piece.....discussed at some length here a few weeks ago.
  8. I can get BBC Look East on sky up in Yorkshire but not ITV Anglia.......was it worth watching?
  9. Thanks for sharing Helen, we will be getting one.
  10. We ate in the Ferry a couple of weeks ago, the food was very good, as was the Woodfordes Wherry. We like the Swan as well, but haven't eaten there for a while.....it is a lot nearer to the staithe though in case of rain? Whichever you choose.....I hope you enjoy it!
  11. I couldn't agree more........God bless Len.
  12. I wonder if other forumites have received a reply from the minister? I received the following following my complaint. "Under the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Act 1988 (as amended), the BA has powers to determine tolls in respect of navigation. We understand that the recent increases were made in consultation with the Navigation Committee and approved by the board. The Act also required the BA to maintain and report on the navigation revenue account separately from other forms of income. Determining, recovering, and reporting on the navigation income are operational matters for the BA. Your constituent may wish to raise concerns about such operational decisions directly with the BA in the first instance. Regarding wider concerns, we expect the highest standards of governance from public bodies, such as the BA, giving confidence to the public in the delivery of national priorities such as nature recovery, and local public services such as planning. Governance arrangements at the BA have been subject to several reviews and investigations. While we understand that the recommendations of these reviews have largely been implemented, we continue to have a strong interest in the effective governance of the BA. We are discussing these issues directly with members and staff, and will continue to monitor the situation going forwards."
  13. Lovely photos Mouldy, thank you for sharing..
  14. Thank you for letting us know.....we love Neatishead and the White Horse....
  15. I suspect that Grendel is correct and the team that did Neatishead is the same one programmed to repair this one. There appears to be a good stretch above the bridge that remains available, assuming the map is correct, albeit part of this stretch is designated for rag and stick removal. Hopefully work can be completed on schedule and well before it gets really busy in the school holidays. I don't think it is realistic to expect all maintenance work to be undertaken out of season. Landscape projects always take longer (and consequently cost more) in the wet and mud of winter. Neatishead is a favourite of ours but as most of us will have experienced, is really tight to get up or down the channel between moored boats, particularly if some of those are the newer, slightly wider beamed variety.....I just hope this has been taken into consideration when the new quay heading was installed and the channel width is at least the same.....and maybe even a little bit wider? I live in hope!
  16. Ps.......for the wishy washy up liquid.....check in the tea towels in the bread bin.
  17. Lovely write up thank you so much! The first boat I hired with my youngest two kids was Spring Horizon, the blue one, from Horizon Craft at Acle Bridge.....my children (now well into their 30's) still speak fondly of their first week afloat. I look forward to hearing more about your week and will keep an eye out for you this week.
  18. Thanks DavidH. The link worked for me..... I have written to my MP and asked him to take my concerns up with the Minister Trudy Harrison.
  19. Excellent!......have a lovely week.
  20. It is only a few days now until our first week afloat this year on Blue Mist.......a few things to sort first at home but come Thursday morning we will on our way to Horning and the boat. We will be staying up north all week. The forecast and tides might allow passage at the weekend through Wroxham and on to Coltishall where I hope to get up to the lock. I have always previously turned at the Norfolk Mead so a new bit for me after forty odd years on the Broads. It is a shame about the delay to completion of the staithe works at Neatishead.....one of my favourites.....and from what I hear from fellow forumites the green at Sutton is consistently occupied.....but I will have a look see for myself. I hope to have a look at Upton if we can moor at the end and walk down to the staithe.....at 38ft we might be a touch long to turn if the staithe is full? Somewhere new for me again. I look forward with a smile to recognising fellow NBN'ers on our travels, and hopefully saying hello to some of the characters....... And I can't wait to support some local businesses......particularly them as sell beer!!! So......a very happy Easter!
  21. Don't resist for too long Neil.......you can't bag the prime spot on the green and not pop in for a pint! Rambling Rosie is looking great! Money well spent. The weather forecast is looking promising over Easter, have a lovely week with your children.
  22. I understand it is going to cost £5.00 to cross the bridge, £10.00 if crossing overnight!
