  1. Brilliant stuff Carol very good of Bruce to transcribe it all
  2. Quick squirt with this baby Jill?? https://www.cricklewoodelectronics.com/AESW.html
  3. Never touch Stella but I would say Lab is pretty much on the mark price wise. The Dog at Ludham Bridge is one of the most reasonably priced on the Broads in my experience. The Humpty Dumpty in the Swan at Loddon is under 3 quid a pint. The re-opened Waveney at OB was always very good on price. As a very rough rule of thumb the riverside pubs will charge more, if you are prepared to walk further away prices are generally cheaper. The superb Caxton Club in Beccles is very reasonable indeed, around a fiver for drinks for me and Mrs Nog Having said all of that, sitting on the terrace of the Hotel Wroxham watching all the goings on is well worth it in my book
  4. Thanks for sharing that Carol. A magnificent building and such a sad end indeed.
  5. I've found another couple of the Oulton houseboats and one of which I assume is Katrina moored at the yacht station in December 2014. I wonder if that was before it was sold on ebay.
  6. Thanks Rick, if that is the case sounds hopeful. Fingers crossed.
  7. In all probability the folks who contacted Carol. Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course but before buying a boat or any riverside type property do your homework and speak to local people as well.
  8. Well according to Fleurets website the Bell is sold subject to contract. Not to Rick as we know, so I wonder if the guy from the Ram is buying it??
  9. That's a shame Carol. I think when you combine any timber structure with water ( whether it be a boat, houseboat or riverside chalet) sadly you do seem to need a lot of dedication and very deep pockets. Katrina must have given a lot of pleasure to a lot of people over the years. Hopefully someone with the necessary resources may take her on.
  10. That's not the remains of the one in my last picture is it Carol? As I suggested earlier I wonder if it's the mooring that's worth the money not whatever junk is parked on it? Peter would be the one to tell us. Now where's that piggy bank.........
  11. Talking of seagulls it was still very popular with them back in 2014!!! This second one looks even worse, which was taken a couple of years earlier. I'd be very surprised if this one is still afloat!
  12. Good grief! I suspect the clue might be in the residential status - it sounds as if this might be difficult/impossible to obtain now. There used to be a real wreck moored there (not this one) , I'm surprised it could even float. Not sure if it's even still there. Another was moored at the Yacht Station for a while. I had an idea that as long as they remain en situ they keep the prized residential status regardless of what state they were in but as usual I could well be wrong!
  13. Many, many, many times Steve That's pubcos for you
  14. They did indeed Jim, me and Mrs Nog gatecrashed them on one evening as I recall. Yes also remember the birthday bash, I seem to think it was quite rumbustious in the bar! That was the Bell in better days. I still think with the right landlord and free of pubco it could do very well. Shame Rick has his hands full at the moment!
  15. I do believe I was there, not involved in the party but lurking in the lounge with an Adnams Explorer if memory serves. Sad to hear but I'm not surprised at all. In the right hands it could be a cracking pub.
  16. Here's the bit from the EDP http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/i_will_keep_it_going_until_it_is_sold_the_bell_in_salhouse_put_up_for_sale_by_enterprise_inns_1_4936234 If I had a spare quarter million I could be tempted, particularly freed from the 'orrible Enterprise (sorry Ei) Big car park and a lot of land behind the pub. Steve and Trudi seemed to be the last to make a go of it, I think they were stuffed by Enterprise in the end. The guy running it apparently has the Ram at Brundall and I have to say I was impressed when I last went in. At least he saved the pub from the grasp of Tesco. Fingers crossed I think. At least an ACV will give some protection and hopefully discourage the evil Co-op
  17. To be honest most of the regular musicians in the Broads pubs (Richard, Sally, John Walker etc) keep the volume at very sensible levels and I don't think it should cause too much of a problem. I've certainly never had to shout at the bar or been unable to converse with Mrs Nog.......
  18. Fantastic photo Carol. I'm amazed by the quality, its in remarkable condition. Must have been a reasonable lens on the camera too as the foreground is in sharp focus but the background has a softer effect. Really looking forward to the rest! Many thanks for sharing with us. And yes, dig the head gear! Makes Donald Shields and Co look tame!!
  19. Fair point Poppy. I think it's a case of consideration for both if it can achieved. I ike Bob's ideas too
  20. Trevor is referring to the Ferry at Surlingham Rick., I believe they combine music and food quite successfuly
  21. Big no no John. Mrs Nog always feeds them corn, much better for them.
  22. Brilliant stuff Carol, many thanks for sharing
  23. Not sure if this has been posted before? Better be quick though before they turn their river frontage into luxury apartments
  24. There are very few teetotal musicians in my experience Rick! {including me} you may be able to do a deal with the offer of some quality beer thrown in!
  25. Rick really does know his stuff, a nice thought indeed, I'm sure he would do great things there. Problem is, I think, (and I will happily be corrected) the Ferry is a Pubco which makes life much more difficult, but not impossible, as Phil has proved superbly at the Bridge Inn
