  1. Just picked up from Twitter that the Bridge Inn have launched a new website. Looks very good too. Excellent pub (IMHO of course)
  2. Hmmmm, I'd be a bit surprised to see the Waveney close. It always seems reasonably busy when I've been in. I would have thought the BITD would be more vulnerable. As Peter says the interior is looking a bit tired and outdated now but my money would be on a refurb - possibly in time for Christmas? The beer range was always a bit pedestrian but as I recall some of the most competitively priced on the Broads. No doubt Peter will keep us posted!
  3. Apart from actually being on the Broads, can't think of a better way to end the day than with a drop of Humpty Dumpty Broadland Sunrise - one of my most favourite beers
  4. Swancraft certainly had arguably one of the most modern and best maintained fleets on the Broads. They transferred to Richardsons last year. I've been on quite a few Swancraft boats but sadly not Regal. However the fit out was always good and they didn't cut corners so I'm sure it will fit the bill.
  5. Best boat we ever hired was an Alphacraft. This was Swan Royale from Swancraft which we hired for many years. It was the rarer 32 foot version of the type which I believe Alan and Keith own. Roomy and very comfortable, superb visibility, great handling and ran on fresh air. We were gutted when Swancraft sold the boat at the end of the 2014 season, never have I wanted those numbers to come up as much as then!!!
  6. I'm with Robin on this one. That's one of the reasons we kept going back to Swancraft year after year.
  7. Hmmm, even if you book with a yard direct, Hoseasons still get their cut regardless. There may be a very small percentage difference between the commission on direct bookings and those made through Hoseasons. Anecdotal evidence also suggests that different yards have slightly different agreements with Hoseasons although obviously this is kept well under wraps. We always booked direct with Swancraft because of the personal service we received but didn't do it for any specific price advantage. I've had various dealings with Faircraft Loynes over the years including hiring from them and always found them helpful. I agree it does sound a bit odd.
  8. Mrs Nog has purchased a fair chunk of her shoe collection in Norwich too
  9. Fantastic film, just got around to watching it properly. Fascinating stuff, it really does bring that wonderful era to life. Well done Carol and Vaughan!
  10. Hmmmm..although I don’t live in Norwich, I visit regularly and consider I know the place pretty well. I don’t think it’s as bad as many other places. You should see what York is like, for example, on race days or Saturday nights. Yes, Prince of Wales Road is best avoided at the weekend but there are a multitude of places where you can enjoy a peaceful evening without any problems. I know, I’ve been there!
  11. Hi Marina You're right, it's not. I posted some photos on the Greetings from Reedham thread.
  12. Ha ha, sorry folks, no chance I could probably afford the fenders. It will be a nice boat once done up. I'm just waiting for the lottery
  13. Well I'm very pleased to report that Firefly has now found a good home. But can you guess where?
  14. Hi Jean No sadly just a couple of days ashore in Norwich - great time though Mark, ha ha don't forget I'm Yorkshirman we're made of stern stuff In the Kings Head Norwich at the mo
  15. Popped into the Lord Nelson too. Lot of money spent no doubt, done in a very modern style. Beers dominated by Greene King but Little Sharpie on good form.
  16. Hi Geoff With you all the way there much better without the fencing but no doubt elf and safety :-( Iain, yes indeed fine pub, Top House and Martingale as well at one point I believe
  17. Railway Tavern sadly long closed, :-(
  18. Well the Ship definitely gets my vote lovely garden opens at eleven with Tipples AND Humpty Dumpty on Mark
  19. Me and Mrs Nog waiting for the pubs to open
  20. Good point Grace. I think it's just one of the idiosyncracies of this Forum that it goes off on a tangent at the drop of a hat. I remember the famous Stokesby Ferry Inn thread that went off on one about smoking! I did a holiday thread a while back which got hijacked so I just quietly started with another thread! If I were the OP that's what I'd be inclined to do
  21. Ha ha, thanks Peter, not changed too much then I'll have a wander down there next time.
  22. Is the Flying Dutchman still open Peter? Not been in for a while.
