  1. Happy birthday John, have a virtual Ghost Ship on me!
  2. Ha ha, probably the best bet Enjoy. Also don't worry about the TV, pop into the pub!!
  3. Peter would be the man to advise. I tend to be very wary of carverys but the one at the Wherry Hotel seems very popular (good turnover). The Commodore is supposed to be good (bit out of my price range though) Please let us know how you get on
  4. I had a nosey around inside those Broom boats last December. Very smart looking they are too. Top notch craft
  5. Ha! Hope so Iain With Humpty Dumpy being just up the road I'm hoping it will be a fixture on the bar.
  6. Just poked my head over 'next door'. Interesting pic of the inside of the Lord Nelson. Looks an expensive fit out. Very interested in the beer, as expected two 'offerings' from the plant at Bury St Edmunds (sorry Poppy) the ubiquitous Wherry, one I couldn't identify but at least they had the excellent Little Sharpie on. I'll look forward to investigating further but will probably be December now
  7. Hi Iain, I'm here! Mum in law not too good atm so will post a bit later if ok. However Steve's choices are excellent. Not been in Pin Mill but it's been in CAMRA Good Beer Guide for yonks
  8. Yep, seems JP has been on this morning. I'm sure it will turn up on the i-player if anyone wants a listen!
  9. Hi All The Falcon Capriole moulds are owned by Swancraft for their Shadow 24. A cracking little boat. I hope to have some photos shortly which I can upload. I've been in Swancraft's shed quite a few times and witnessed at first hand the build quality of their boats. They can tailor to customers specific requirements too. I keep doing the lottery every week, I know where I'll be heading when those numbers come up!
  10. Its a shame to hear about hire boats not looking their best. As Jean mentioned the Swancraft boats were always immaculate, a real credit to them. They were cleaned thoroughly both inside and out, roofs, hulls, the lot. We hired in December (usually Swan Radiance) and the boat was always immaculate even after a full season in hire.
  11. Absolutely fascinating many thanks for sharing Carol and a sterling job by Bruce to transcribe it all. Bit like the Donald Shields photos - they all enjoyed a fag in those days! 2 ounces of Craven A!!
  12. Hi Alan/Simon It was early August 2014 when the pub closed. Bill passed away soon after as I recall.
  13. Same person running both pubs I believe. Greene King in the Rising Sun too last time I went in (briefly)
  14. Good news Andrew, thanks for the update it I'll be good to see the pub open again. You don't happen to know what beer was delivered? With Humpty Dumpy just up the road hopefully they will be supporting their local brewery!
  15. Sorry to hear about the grub Mark. However I must endorse wholeheartedly your comments about Lacons - superb stuff
  16. Oh dear, that looks the end of that. It's not going to be more luxury flats is it Lab?
  17. As Poppy says it's usually (but not always) fairly clear what a yacht skipper is trying to do. If he's tacking it's usually possible to time your approach to pass behind the stern without too much trouble. However I find it more confusing when a flappy is going the other way (running free)??? as they are sometimes in the middle of the river or even the 'wrong' side. In that case it can be difficult to know which side to pass. Many will signal, however Mrs Nog has a useful approach which to hold up both hands pointing in either direction in a quizzical manner, this usually encourages the yacht skipper to indicate which side he/she wants you to pass. Like most situations though there will always be exceptions!
  18. As a Yorkshireman I won't disagree with you there Andrew, it is some of the finest beer in the country.
  19. There was some discussion about it on this thread too http://forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/topic/10901-yards-closing/?page=1
  20. Mrs Nog likes Cromer. Mind you I tend to seek refuge in the Red Lion Poppyland brewery too. Any connection?
  21. Hi Folks Sorry for the delay. The pub is called the Goodmanham Arms. Idyllic village pub situated roughly between York and Hull. Good Beer Guide listed, CAMRA pub of the year with its own brewery and guest beers. Highly recommended if you are ever up in the land of the flat caps and ferrets!
  22. Aw, it will be worth the wait!
  23. Sorry to rub it in Mark!!! Only 2.50 a pint too (and it's not a Wetherspoons) Hopefully you can have one later!
