  1. Not much wrong with the Ferry House. The beer quality at Coldham Hall is outstanding in my humble opinion. Not tried the grub unfortunately but if it's half as good as the beer it will be excellent
  2. Just had a browse on the NYA website. The Shadow boats are outstanding quality builds, there is one moored at Swancraft now which is a very recent build, stunning boat. Just not so keen on the canopy and the slightly higher air draught. Those ex Faircraft Loynes ones look to be twins of the Evening Lights, I bet they were all built as a batch. Either way, just need those numbers! One can dream Maybe need to persuade Mrs Nog to drink singles......
  3. I think they're a poor mans Reflection. Must check my Euromillions ticket.......
  4. Ha ha! Yes, I intend to give the local pubs my fullest support Simon and will of course report back! And I'm sure that Mrs Nog will be sampling a few large gins too No, all being well we will be aboard Humber Bridge again from the excellent Bridgecraft. Great winter boat, really cosy. Watch this space.......
  5. Going back 30 years Hoseasons were certainly very customer orientated as can be seen in their trade newsletter. Full Leaflet.pdf
  6. Ha ha!!! I can see that in the interest of research I will have to check out the Ram personally. We're back shortly, so I'll make a priority of paying it a visit. I've been in many times over the years but I think of late with Covid and changes of management its not really had a lot of stability. The White Heron could do with some competition anyway
  7. Anyone tried the Ram yet?
  8. EDP today https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24078114.broads-authority-say-no-conspiracy-toll-fee-increases/
  9. Couldn't agree more Very fair point
  10. We moored up to empty moorings, the guy was out like a rat out of a trap, gave us a load of verbal, we never got a word in edgeways, he shouldn't be in the hospitality industry IMHO
  11. Good intersting posts When we turned up the moorings were empty. This guy has/or had attitude, maybe need to be a gin palace or a brand new boat. Agree with Malcolm, Ferry House, what's not to like.
  12. Yep! Exactly the same! I got the impression he didn't like hire boats, maybe he just liked customers to arrive in a Merc or BMW!!!
  13. I seem to be getting a lot of emails from Hoseasons with various offers at the moment, almost every day. I wonder if bookings are a bit slow? I always book direct with Bridgecraft (as I did with Swancraft) so never really have any dealings with them. Just wondered.
  14. Good news about the Waters Edge The only pub I've ever been thrown out from before I even got in!!
  15. "Use it or lose it" Indeed Good to see a pub reopening https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/24055862.ram-inn-brundall-reopens-former-managers/?ref=rss
  16. Springs every time for me. I tend to use them most of the time anyway, for the little extra time it takes it's well worth it IMHO. Keeps you snug overnight if the wind gets up and you don't have to worry about adjusting for the tide.
  17. Three weeks estimate now to carry out works but not including the return trip I assume https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24050611.reedham-ferry-arrives-excelsior-slipways-boat-yard/?ref=rss&s=09
  18. Assuming you crossed the Stokesby to Acle Road (which I guess you did) looks a good walk, maybe 5 miles at a guess. Shame the pub is shut!!
  19. Sorry to hear that Kate, sounds a bit more complicated. I wonder if one of the boatyards might look at it if you don't have any luck yourself. Sutton Staithe always seem to get good press on here but maybe other owners could advise better. Hope you get sorted soon
  20. Sorry to hear about your heating. We rely totally on the boat heating in winter and, touch wood, never have a problem. It starts every morning without running the engine and pretty much runs all day if we need it. Not sure which type of heater Bridgecraft use. I think the batteries need to be well topped up though, even if they're in good condition. If the voltage drops below a certain level the heating wont work. We do a lot of mileage in winter, we go down South and often cruise for 4 or 5 hours a day. I'm not a technical expert and there are many on here with much more knowledge than me but I just wonder if it might simply be the batteries running a bit low. Could be wrong, i usually am!
  21. The works are expected to take five to six weeks According to the EDP...........
  22. Thanks for the pub info, we are back in February so need to look out for those, normally two must visits.
  23. It's natural to want to keep the water topped up and it makes good sense. However it is suprising how little you actually use. I suspect some hirers maybe treat it as an Infinite resource and hence the standard advice given is to top up daily. However if you bear in mind it comes from a tank it's suprising how careful you become. For example Mrs Nog has long hair but when showering she turns off the water when applying shampoo then turns it on again to rinse. We were out in December 2022 when there was a lot of ice about. We intended to top up at Reedham but found the taps turned off. As we hadn't filled up for 2 or 3 days I was becoming concerned and a very kind Forum member even offered to bring some water to us which was much appreciated. However we were able to fill up at Swancraft and I was amazed at how little water was needed to fill the tank. So I would say, don't be put off Simon. December, in my humble opinion, is by far the best time to be out, you really do have the rivers to yourself, it's a magical time.
  24. Indeed! reminds me a bit of the Woods End conversion, certainly looks a lot brighter. I'll have a walk down there if I can drag myself away from the Norfolk Nog This is from a few years ago, you can tell the difference
