  1. Drinks prices were always pretty steep but then again it's an Enterprise pub. I suppose with Surlingham Ferry there isn't much else there so hopefully people mooring there would use the pub. In the case of the New Inn it could be more likely that folks would try to moor there just for access to the village so maybe a fee or caveat with a meal could be justified?
  2. Indeed, good pub (photo nicked from Norfolk pubs database)
  3. It is indeed. It was some sort of tapas place for a while but it's never really succeeded as a pub for a long time. I guess it's heyday coincided with the Golden age of boating. I remember the long stretch of moorings being absolutely rammed.
  4. Remember it well. One of the very few pubs selling real ale on the Broads back in the old Watneys days.
  5. Bit of confusion with the Berney and the Stracey I think which is understandable. The Stracey was a good pub in the seventies, they even had live bands on. Later it became the Three Feathers as I recall and ceased to be a proper pub from then on.
  6. Fred is on the nail, that's what I have heard.
  7. Maybe a gentle disagreement with you there JM When John and Tracy ran the pub the beer was superb but thanks to Mr H it is no more
  8. Castle in Wroxham - great pub Railway Tavern
  9. Yep, doing well even by NBN standards Helen!!!!! Can't even blame JF this time either!!
  10. I think the Dukes Head at Somerleyton is bar only but yes, it would probably be easier to list those pubs that don't allow dogs. The Broads is a rural/tourist area and pubs that don't allow dogs are missing a trick. Funnily enough it's often more town pubs that don't allow dogs.
  11. Its on quite a busy road Liz, so easily missed. Highly recommended though. Now the Artichoke was a run down Pub Co pub but has now been bought by the owner of the excellent Golden Triangle Brewery. Its been transformed and is now very welcoming, does food and an excellent selection of beers and gins (according to Mrs Nog). Again highly recommended. just not sure if dogs are allowed. I suppose I'm guilty of wandering off topic slightly, I'll drink a pint of John Smiths in penance.
  12. Sorry Liz, Leopard is on Bull Close Road. Very good pub it would be a bit of a walk from the Yacht Station but quite do-able.
  13. Red Lion is closed currently although hopefully will reopen again soon if a new tenant can be found. The Kings Head is a superb pub and dog friendly although a bit of a walk from the river. Ditto the Leopard. I think the majority of pubs on the Broads are dog friendly albeit with restrictions in some. The ones that don't allow dogs are probably not worth going in anyway. There is no valid reason to refuse dogs if a pub serves food. Our friend Tim Martin won't let dogs in of course although badly behaved kids are welcomed with open arms. I wouldn't drink in his establishments anyway. In my experience the vast majority of people who bring dogs in pubs are responsible and have well behaved pets. You will always get the odd exception but thankfully extremely rarely.
  14. Well I've said it before, every cloud has a silver lining What would have been a simple one post thread would have sunk without trace by now instead of consistently topping the ratings So come on, roll up, roll up, a lot more boat for less money than Swan Royale
  15. Not personally but I'll take your word for it G but I can imagine anything is easier than keeping this lot on track However on the plus side I hope Paul will be pleased to see his boat sale consistently near the top of the ratings
  16. Actually Upton is a good idea. Lots of room and a good turning area too.
  17. I wonder if the slipway at Thurne would be any good? Quite a bit of space around it.
  18. Link works perfectly for me Now about Potter Bridge......
  19. This is doing a great job of keeping this topic on top folks! Keep it coming!
