  1. until
I shall be out and about on Nyx for a week. Hope to see a few of you.
  2. Thanks for the link Steve, My next step is to speak very nicely to my sister.
  3. Couldn't agree more Pauline. Some people are more vulnerable to burglaries than others, for example, it is rare for this house to be unoccupied, normally if I'm on the boat, Frances is at home. If we are both away, then one of her daughters house sits, so all in all, I don't mind posting when I'm coming to the boat.
  4. Steve/Deb The stripey curtain material is the same as I had on my last boat. Where did you get it, I rather liked it and would like to have it on my current one.
  5. I tried, but failed. I'm not too gofod with these pooter fingies
  6. "So I put the phone to my other ear, put my drink down and told her I could... That's when Mr Plod came up behind me...." Thanks Geoff, I loved that. Your "up" spoiler does indicate not that you are speeding but that you had been speeding. gedoutta that one!
  7. I don't have a facebook account so have no idea what the fuss is all about!
  8. This is just a thought I wanted to bounce around... I have a thread running about when I'll be on the boat and was thinking about a thread in the "other place" called "Who's about this weekend" or something similar. That thread suffered from becoming too large as time went on with peeps saying when they'd be on the broads. For each member to post in their own thread when they'd be there is cumbersome, so something in-between might work, the objective being general socialising. What I came up with was "Who's up in Jan?", "Who's up in Feb?" and, "Who's up in Mar?". etc. Sometime in Feb, the "Who's up in Jan" gets deleted and the "Who's up in Apr?" is started. How far in advance we go is pretty variable, as is how long the out dated ones are kept up. What this would acheive (for those who wanted it) would be a quick and easy route to casual meeting ups and swapping beers and insults. Just a thought. and I wondered if it could be automated!
  9. Deffo arrange a meet-up Mike, perhaps the Dog Ludham or the White Horse Neatishead. Anywhere you like?
  10. Most of my posts show me to be very "Groan up"
  11. I'm feeling quite left out! I haven't received any e-mail from BA at all yet... Come on lads, I've got some money for you!
  12. Nasty rough water holds no fear for me, I've been on Salhouse in a force 4 you know.
  13. "The subject of adapting a 32 amp post outlet to 16 amp shorepower leads came up a year or two back on the forums and became a very heated topic." Sorry Strow, but that amused me so much I just had to highlight it.
  14. The thought had crossed my mind several times. I couldn't make my mind up as to whether to do the crossing in my boat (27' Elysian Bounty) if I was brave enough, or to have it transported there by road and kept there for a season. The other option is to hire. I will need to gen up a bit on that option. I like the idea of an extended holiday on the Shannon, say a month or two. Anyway, what ever I do,,, welcome to the forum.
  15. Just to keep everybody up to date with my motions (or are they movements) I've managed to blag a pass to the boat from Wed 1st April to Wed 8th inclusive... yipeeeee.... So. Who's around for Easter then. Tis the season for chocci eggs... yum yum... with a drop of Bells as said elsewhere here... yum hic yum.
  16. I thought that everyone knew that if you had to drink anything whilst eating chocolate it had to be a blended scotch (and it doesn't need to be a good one either). Trust me, the combination is lovely!!!!! Iain, in your post about "that bridge" were you whispering? It was written in a very quiet voice! Gotta go now. I need to dress like a bear, and stand on one leg with my left knee under my right elbow.
  17. Why? Question was addressed to the guy's climbing, not to you Gracie.
  18. There is another way of looking at that point Geoff/Wendy. The amount of interest I will receive by holding on to that money will be pretty meaningless. If the BA can obtain a meaningful sum because many pay early, then it's been an advantage for them. Avoiding all the arguments as to how such a financial bonus is spent, I see no real downside for us but a positive upside for them. If I ever decide to do something in protest against the BA it will be far more significant than holding on to a bit of cash for a month or two. It will be a properly organized orchestrated and very public protest. Thus far I don't feel we have reached that stage.
  19. There are one or two deterrent effects that CCTV has. One that springs to mind is the infa-red cameras. When thieves are thinking about breaking in, they will often scan your house with their mobile phone (in camera mode) to check for CCTV cameras. Infa-red cameras show up as bright 'hotspots' on the house. The scumbag then knows your house is protected. As far as image quality goes, firstly the bugger doesn't know how good/bad your system is, and secondly the police are very good at seeing detail in the poorest of pics.
  20. I've been told to get more exercise, Perfect for me, I reckon a couple of lengths a day and I've cracked it.
  21. Scum of the earth's been busy again then! Was that your home or your boat they broke in? Either way I hope they didn't take much. All I can add is that I wish you well through what I know is going to be an upsetting period ahead. Chin up, things will get better.
