  1. Talking of the time shift. Apparently dyslexics are in trouble tonight as their cocks go black Griff
  2. Had another proper busy day, all ten Hrs of it. MrsG not hungry so I’m treating mysen to a roast pheasant dinner Griff
  3. Hi you guys, Thanks for those 'Kind' words Yes indeed, yesterday was our 32nd anniversary so that means 34 years together (How did that happen?) My Lad posted on FB that he was going to leave a medal on our dining room table and it was up for discussion who deserved it the most. Seems Laureen won that one by a country mile which I was somewhat surprised about. I bought her some flowers - Lots of em, a nice card and a bottle of that Prosseco stuff then yesterday evening took the pair of us out for a romantic anniversary dinner. Well, two out of three ain't bad is it? It was our anniversary and we did have dinner It was posh nosh and then some at over £100 by the time we left the restaurant. Still you can't take it with you. Tonight I shall treat us both to another five course dinner - Fish, chips, mushy peas, salt n vinegar Griff
  4. I needs it to be load bearing in it's own right so the Nautikfloor is not suitable. The 6mm stuff aint suitable either. And we are orf topic with regards to the OP. I'll post more on 'Our' thread Griff
  5. Ask for us too please. We upgraded 'B.A's fwd and aft companion ways with Holly and Teak some time ago and have been impressed with the results and still new look. Come our Bi-annual AMP next year I plan to refit the wheelhouse deck throughout with the same Griff
  6. That should be in the Joke Section Why? The mummy looks trustworthy and it's in colour so it must be true Griff
  7. An innovator, A legend, A Broadsman. Much respect to 'Bobby' Richardson. Condolences to his family. I did and still do feel it was an honour to have met and chat with him just the once Griff
  8. The Shureflo pump we have onboard 'B.A' is used to extract shower water from the shower tray overboard. We inherited the pump when we became the custodians of 'B.A' back in 2002, the pump has been in use for the past eleven years giving sterling service. However recently it's performance started to reduce. So I stripped it down, cleaned it out and all was well. On the Lads week it started failing again. Further investigation revelead the plate and O ring to be past their best. The impeller looks fine but must be worn by now too. So, eventually we found a service kit on Ebay for £30:00. However it has to come from the USA the postage was listed at £40:00 giving a total of £70:00 not including any import tax we may get stiffed with. A new equivilant Jabsco pump is around £100-ish so there was no way I was spending £70:00 on a service kit. A phone call to ASAP supplies in Beccles - they can't supply but are very helpful in giving me a number of a UK supplier that may be able to. On contacting said UK supplier, yes they can supply a service kit for £24:50 and have one in stock, we can order on-line. Bro duly does and said service kit has arrived with a total invoice or £41:40 This is the part where I'm feeling ripped off. How do we get to £41:40 from £24:50? Add on £10:00 carriage = £34:50 then add on vat = £41:40 The suppliers have charged us £12:00 carriage including vat on the carriage. I took the parcel to the my local P.O unopened. Their charge 1st class signed for? £5 in total. So the total invoice should have been £34:40. I know its less than £10:00 I'm griping about, but it's £10:00 in £41:00 which is nowt in the grand scheme of things but this is outright profiteering / Rip of Britain in my book. We won't be ordering owt else from this company that's for sure. IAW the TOS I can't mention them by name, but beware of ordering any items from a pump specialist in Albion Street, Southwick, W. Sussex Griff
  9. It was Lego for me but moved onto Meccanno. I had a traction steam engine model - Goodness knows where it went. Also had Keil Craft Super 60 - Goodness knows where that ended up, along with a glow motor powered stock car - Lost. I do however still have a r/c RAF crash tender that I finished construction in about 73. (OS10 powered) Lost the r/c gear, the boat needs some tlc to get it back to what is should be like. So much to do and never seem to get time to do it Griff
  10. That's a surprise, never heard or saw that one coming. I'm familiar with the tackle shops at Ludham Bridge, Stalham and Potter Heigham. Where is the tackle shop in Horning, is it on-line orders only? Tks, Griff
  11. Be tempted, right now she is your for £35:00. I rather like the RAF seaplane boat Griff
  12. Sausages in the oven, bacon under the grill, black pudding and hash browns in one frying pan, eggs poaching in the other frying pan, kettle on another ring, tomatoes on the last ring - microwave absolutely essential for the baked beans to complete my full English. You missed out on the mushrooms and toast. Forget H.B's - Not English Oh and where's the mug of whisky to put the tea in? We do all of the above onboard 'B.A' without the use of a microwave Griff
  13. Same here, we have replaced the toaster a few times on 'B.A', never had a microwave onboard, never felt the need. The Jewel of Lights have them but I can't remember using them personally Griff
  14. Grendel - As one of the participants in the 'Rudder' incident, I too would like to see it Grendel, there has been a multitude of photo's / film clips / Comments on the 'Lads Week' whatsapp group although it is starting to calm down now. You are missing out here and I ain't sure what I can do about it. Griff
  15. Welcome. Photo’s Would help Griff
  16. Ask Robin to share the ‘Rudder’ video on the Lads week thread - proper funny Griff
  17. Re mooring stern on using a mudweight through a full tidal range - easy- floating mudweight Griff
  18. 'B.A' led the flotilla the whole week that way we knew our speed would be accurate, so none of us went of charging ahead. Skipper of J2 - Yes that was me all week, I don't do much helming, just the awkward bits. Bro was the skipper of 'B.A' Griff
  19. Hi Broads01, the difference can be explained by two of the Jewels were towing dinghies, differing ages of engines and yes different use of heating, Griff
  20. Another great evening was had on our Dining Out Night. The staff at The Bridge Inn looked after us very well (We had the back room) they were superb as was the food as per the norm. The pre-ordered Lap Dancers however let us down and did not turn up. No surprise there then as they have failed to turn up each year to be honest. Note to self - Write to my MP about this matter. The inter boat quiz was won by 'B.A' with J-of-L II coming a close second. The 'Vicars' theme. I did have a vicars outfit that I had took with me but the lads had secretly secured a Popes outfit that I was presented with once alongside and ordered to wear on the night Today Saturday 13th 'B.A' sailed at 0630 for Stalham via Robert at Sutton Staithe for pump out and diesel. Jewels 1, 2, and 3 sailed at 0740 for Potter Heigham. By 1000 all crews were away on their way home apart from me n Bro who had to do the usual clean through on 'B.A' We eventually got home for around 1615. It was agreed by all that this has been yet another memorable successful Lads Week, No one fell in although two crew members did get wet from foot to crotch through trying to walk on water when getting onboard, they failed of course as neither of them are Yorkies. No accidents. One certain southern crew member lost his false front tooth on the first Friday night. apparently having left it in the Norada Pub. He found it yesterday evening down the side of his mattress by his pillow - Laugh did we? Gnasher who we wore false top rack of teeth for appreciated our support and has sent that photo off to his family etc who all agreed we were a great bunch of mates supporting him and that it was hilarious. Herbert Woods staff looked after us very well, especially on the Friday afternoon / early evening as we started to arrive and then again during Saturday forenoon prior to sailing, nothing was too much trouble for them, not that we gave them any trouble you understand. The three Jewels are provisionally booked for next year Diesel consumption for the week was:- 1 = 95 x Ltrs, 2 = 102 x Ltrs, 3 = 97 x Ltrs and 'B.A' = 93 x Ltrs, 'B.A' having to sail from Stalham to PH to meet up with the Jewels on the first Friday evening then back to Stalham from Acle so she covered more river miles. So when is 'B.A' crewed up once more and underway on the H20? - No idea at present although I will be onboard for a maintenance weekend next month but staying in the wet shed Griff
